NordVPN: 96% Cashback (Uncapped) for New VPN Plan Customers @ Cashrewards

1180

For those who decided to sit on it last time.

IT’S BACK! https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/708881

Last time, I paid ~$7 for 2 years of VPN after cashback.

This time looks like a slightly better deal, 2-year plan ($3.09/mo) + 3 months FREE for USD$83.43 on Standard Plan. Cashback 96% on what you paid.

Deal ends 11:59pm Monday 5 Sep

Please READ this before you purchase:

Use the Cashrewards mobile app for best tracking results. Personally, I never had an instances where it didn’t track with Cashrewards app. I learnt it hard way with the browsers.

Before you purchase NordVPN, make sure you scrolled down and Nord didn’t add any add-on products with additional costs (some add-ons are automatically ticked, ensure it is unticked)

To avoid GST, select non-GST countries such as US. Personally, I used post code/zip code ‘90210’. GST component is excluded from the cashback.

FAQ:

When do I get tracking email?
o Based on my previous experience, you will get cashreward tracking email within 1 hour. If you don’t get this within a day, something has gone wrong, enjoy for few more days and cancel for a full refund

When do I get paid?
o Up to 90 days, should be 6 to 8 weeks. I got mine within 9 weeks.

How do they classify ‘New customer’
o It is based on your email address, if you had one before even free trials, use new/another email address.

What are some of the things that I can use with VPN?
o Youtube premium Argentina (only once off required during sign up) ~AUD$2.20 - please search for previous posting for more details
o Netflix Turkey (only once off required during sign up) - please search for previous posting for more details
o Netflix US or UK contents (VPN required at the time of viewing)
o BBC iPlayer (VPN required at the time of viewing).
o EPL / MLB / Golf / NFL / Tennis via Peacock. AUD ~$7.20 (VPN required at the time of viewing and adding cc is tricky)

I've been with Nord for a few years now. No issues at all. Always works when needing a VPN to circumvent geoblocking. I use it in combination with Chrome incognito mode, and only use that browser for OS transactions. Never had an issue.

I only recently resubscribed for like $90 for 2 years or something? Still worth it.

    • +1

I'm agree with your comment, it's work and in my experience well. At the end of my 3-year plan thing, I just got a new email address and signed up again to get the deal. Not much point renewing without discount

      • No issues signing up with a new account with a new email?

        • +1

Yes! I was in the exact same boat as Froot Loops - had a 3yr Black Friday plan which ran out and I got this a while back, I made a new account and used the Cashrewards app to make my purchase. Approval took 9 weeks and 2 days for me and tracking took less than an hour :D

          • @noren7: thanks Froot Loops and noren7, I'll definitely do that next time. It's worth the trouble to make a new account when you're saving what's about $100!

    • Does it have indian server

      • It used to

      • Nope… but as explained below all VPN's are leaving India.

  • How is the speed with nord?

My PIA coming to an end and when i connect to local servers the speed is same as using with no VPN

    • +1

I'm 350km from the nearest nord server (Brisbane) and am getting 759 Mbps down 411 Mbps up 26 Ping. I find it delays a little (ping?) sometimes when accessing a page, but downloading and normal use is totally fine. My normal speeds without a VPN are speeds: 906Mbps down, 931Mbps up, Ping 20, so not too much difference

      • What internet plan are you on for getting such high speeds?

        • I'm on an enterprise network, hence the speeds.

  • Are there any VPN's supporting India?

    • +1

India has decreed that all VPNs retain user data for 5 years and provide it when requested.
So if the P bit of VPN is important to you, forget it

      • +3

Right now $ are more important to me than P, I have so many subscriptions having low prices from India, would be a hassle to convert to Turkey :D
lets see, I was mostly after VPN providing virtual servers.

      • <$10 for 2 years of VPN subscription sounds like gold standard of privacy. Privacy is just a myth, you can only convince yourself that you are protected until one day you are proven wrong

      • I wonder if this also applies to companies that have workers in India. VPNs are extremely common for remote offices and people working from home.

    • +2

TorGuard has an Indian server. Use Official50 for 50% off listed prices.

      • thanks mate

    • +2

Not anymore and many VPNs are on the way out. google for many articles articulating this.

    • surfshark

      CyberGhost

      ExpressVPN

  • Does it includes smartdns as well?

  • Thanks OP, my plan expires next month so i will sign up again with this. I've had a good experience over the years with them and get good download speeds multiple megabit still when connected.

    • this deal expires on Monday (not saying it won't available ever again)

      • Thats ok, I plan on using a new email and signing up today. I don't care about a few weeks lost on old plan.

        • +1

Otherwise, if you look at posting history an almost identical deal has dropped every 4 weeks or so all year long. I’m also due for renewal this month and have watched many Nord renewal deals come and go. Might jump on it this time, but if you didn’t there’ll likely be another in a few weeks.

  • So I picked the standard plan $99.63 / 2 years.
With 96% cashback, it's going to be $3.99 for 2 years. It's that right?

    • +1

      That’s USD I think

    • USD and also check if it's the plan you want. I tried with Standard just now, and got ~$83 USD

    • Try in incognito, I was getting 64% off at first showing $99.63 at checkout then tried in Incognito and got 68% off which is the $83 USD price.

  • -4
    • It did for couple of months and came back.

  • +1

Tried them and they kept blocking all the Warez sites I use so got a refund.

    • +4

NordVPN were blocking them? Or the sites were blocking known VPN IPs? The latter seems more plausible..

      • It was nord they work fine with windscribe or CyberGhost which I am using now.

        • +1

That just means the servers you were using for windscribe and cyberghost weren't blocked - it's very unlikely that a VPN will really ever be blocking any websites, where as it's extremely common for VPN IPs to be blocked by websites.

  • So this only works on the 'standard' plan and not the 'complete' or 'plus' plans as they come with nordlocker and nordpass? probably easier to say 96% cashback on standard plan only then.

    • 96% is on all plans not just standard

      • thank you for the quick reply

Are you saying that you could buy the complete plan that comes with nordlocker and pass and get the cashback? I selected this plan but could not see any tick boxes that could be unticked

        • +1

Yes, it should be on all plans, not just standard. I didn't want all the optional ones, so I went with the standard. re: tick, untick, it seems like they might have changed this, but if it is all unticked and no options or features that you don't need aren't included, then its all good.

          • @superbass: Thank You, I've gone for complete plan to try out nordlocker. As long as cashback tracks then it's not much of a risk to buy and try!

      • This isn't true. I purchased the complete plan through shopback and you get an email with a receipt stating that all the extra things from complete and plus are considered "NordLocker" and "NordPass" products.

Cashrewards also states it doesn't include NordPass or NordLocker products as part of cashback. Unless this works for someone else I would only buy the standard package.

I managed to get a refund easily through NordVPN anyway

    • +1

      Special Terms
Cashback is eligible for new NordVPN customers only.

Cashback is eligible only on NordVPN plans, and not on any up-sold products such as NordPass & NordLocker.

Cashback may be ineligible if using codes not listed on Cashrewards, and ineligible on any payments made with Crypto currency.

Cashback is calculated and paid on the advertised cost of the plan only. It will not include any GST, taxes, credit card or PayPal surcharges.

      • I didn't see this and bought the plus. I guess I have to get a refund for them

  • +1

Hmmm. I'm getting total of $83.43 with US Zip code 90210. Wonder what I'm missing.

    • make sure you dont have any addon in your basket

      • I'm at the checkout page after selecting the plan. I'm not seeing anything else in the cart, unless perhaps the add-ons only appear at the next steps?

        • my bad. I tried and you are right. Looks all good. ~$123AUD and 96% back on that. AUD is higher now that USD is going up

    • same

      • you are on the right path

  • Mine has recently expired. Am I considered a new customer if I sign up again?

    • please refer to FAQ

      • Whoops somehow missed that. Thanks, easy solution

  • I'm going to take this deal, keep missing or forgetting the previous deals.

    • yeh, know what you mean. kind of what I did two months ago.

      • 2 months is nothing, lol. I've been meaning to do one of these deals for over a year. Hahahahaha.

  • +1

Need a deal for current customers!

    • +2

just sign up with new email address?

      • +1

        Ah righto! Thanks

        • +4

You can use the same email address for new account just insert a dot or + before the @. Watch this YouTube video tutorial.

          https://youtu.be/03zeWrun8G4

          • @mckayver: Even better thanks!

          • @mckayver: Just be careful with [ +, . ] (aka email alias) trick.

Some sites (like Afterpay) strip them out, and then run comparison against the non-aliased email address within their database.
How do I know? Afterpay sent confirmation email to the non-aliased email address.

  • Have anyone tried it with Optus Sports outside Australia?

    • dont see why it should work once you connect with australian vpn

      • My friend travelled overseas and he used my PIA account but it didn't work. I did some research online that Optus Sports managed to block some VPNs. Some comment that ExpressVPN works with Optus Sports.

        • interesting. thanks for sharing.
Let me try and loop back

        • Same with NordVPN. I tried couple of IP addresses and It doesn't work.

          • @superbass: Thanks for trying. Sad that it doesn't work with NordVPN

        • If its a well known VPN provider expect it to be blocked.

  • +1

I used a different e-mail address to sign up for a deal like this a couple of months ago. It tracked properly in Cashrewards so didn't think much of it until about a month later when I checked again and saw it had been declined. I queried this and Cashrewards said that Nord did not give a reason and there was nothing they could do. It was past the 30 days for a refund from Nord.

    • ouch - how would know its was the same person tho?
Was it the same name or the same credit as you bought previously?

      • Yeah, same credit card. Other people didn't seem to have an issue using the same payment method though.

  • +2

Yay perfect timing!! been holding out for this min expires in 6 days

    • @superbass - Thanks for the write up and post!

I usually don't bother with the app (as i've never had an issue with Cashrewards on browser on my setup) but this time just to be extra cautious, used the app to sign up etc. Can see the click history in my account, now just a matter of waiting for the cashback to come through :)

  • It's only letting me use cryptocurrency (coingate) as payment.. Anyone else having this issue?

    • +1

      It's because I am overseas.

Ironically I had to use my soon to expire nordvpn to come back to Australia to buy a new plan paid from outside of Australia to avoid tax.

      :D

  • Strange. I assume you have tried a different credit card and it still failed? Or are you trying to use google pay?

    • See above. Thanks OP!

  • Do have to use a different email for just Nord or Cashrewards ? What if you have tracked on in cashrewards before.

    • +1

Just for the Nord account signup

      • Thanks Mate. Seems like a good deal

        • Yea seems like a no brainier. I have had no issues with Nord soo it was a timely bargain for me to create a new account for another 2 years

Fwiw - cashback tracking on mine has been recognised already in my account (less than an hour’s time). Just gotta wait for Nord to acknowledge and profit cash back :)

          • +1

@spikiii: I actually don't like nord all that much became of the windows app. It feels really bloated. I like PIAs minimalistic approach.

          • +1

            @spikiii: Thanks for sharing.
Good to know that it is tracking within an hour like before.

  • Can you use AMEX to pay and still get the cashback? Or does it have to be a Mastercard/visa?

    • +1

dont see why amex is an issue as long as they accept.

  • My 3 year plan from a previous deal just ended, forgot to turn off auto renew but luckily my bank blocked the transaction. Signed up to this using another e-mail, just waiting to see if cashrewards tracked. Havn't had any problems in those 3 years, it's worked for every deal signing up in different countries like Netflix, Youtube, Playstation Plus, Xbox Live etc. Long live the bargains!

    • +1

lucky. make sure you turn off the auto renew straight away this time.

  • Noob question - how does this compared to the VPN included in the Google One subscription? I have one, but it does allow to select countries.

    • +2

      According to cnet;

If you're a subscriber to the Google One 2TB plan and just looking for light protection as you browse public Wi-Fi, the Google One VPN may do the job. But if you're looking for more robust privacy, we'd recommend subscribing to one of our tested and recommended VPNs instead.

Nord is one of their recommended.

      • Awesome, thanks! I may jump on this deal then.

    • +1

Google One bundled in VPN doesn't allow you to select specific countries… it's a very light protection at best.

  • +2

How do we get the $78.96 (USD?) listed in the OP? I'm seeing $83.43 with a US postcode (no GST) and no extras.

    2-year plan ($3.09/mo) + 3 months FREE - $83.43
    Discount -62%

    • +2

Looks like it is $83.xx with 2 yrs and 3 months vs $78.xx with 2 yrs last time.
I have removed the comment on the posting according.
You are on the right path

      • +1

Nice! This came up as AU$115.63 on my card, and quickly got an email to say it's been tracked at AU$107.70 - so that's AU$7.93 for 27 months.

  • +2

    FYI,

I did this cashback last time, have had my cashback declined. Nil tracking issues, showed up on my account almost right after transaction.

After multiple emails with Cashrewards and NordVPN, still no $$

    • Uh oh. Does not inspire confidence… Were you a returning customer with a new email?

    • I got my cashback just after 2 months, so please feel free to elaborate on your story

      • There isn't much to elaborate.

Brand new user, never signed up before. I used a new window to make sure everything was tracking. Worked perfectly, transaction showed up on my account tracking fine like a minute after the transaction went through.

It was still pending a couple weeks ago, then all of a sudden declined. No explanation on details. So I emailed both Cashrewards and NordVPN. NordVPN tells me everything is approved for cashback and Cashrewards keeps saying its declined. After about 4-5 emails with each, I still have no $$$ and doubt I'll be getting it.
