I see having "gaming" in the name still adds a surcharge

$571 on Amazon as far as I can see.

  • Bought this last November during click frenzy for $259, plus got a $50 giftcard!
DumaOS has the slowest interface I have ever used in any router. I had to set it up multiple times initially as the config was getting reset. Backup/restore doesn't work properly but once you have it all set up, it works and has been rock solid for almost a year now. But I definitely do not look forward to when it fails and I will have to set everything up from scratch. I run a lot of Home Automation and IoT devices that need static IP and have internal port forwarding so setting it up takes time.

    • Thanks for the update. Will try mine tonight, so will report back on how it went.

    • PS: Scorptec has a bad return policy, so check if that works for you. I initially got frustrated and wanted to return it after 24 hours and they would not accept it.

    • My favourite part was when I did a firmware upgrade on mine, and everything was reset…

    • I second this, dumaOS is trash. slowest response for the most basic task. smartconnect is poor and 2.4ghz/5ghz often cant be connected by device and need a reboot.

      • I can confirm I have this same issue of one Wifi band not connecting and needs a reboot to resolve (even having to bet on it not forgetting all the settings)

This is not a good router.. bought it during the click frenzy event last year..

Its settings would mysteriously reset after a power cycle for no apparent reason. The web interface is also slow.

I would say avoid if you can.

    • I was about to buy it few months back to replace my old Netgear R7000 but then waited and bought a Asus RT-AX86U for just $58 more.

      • Would agree Asus is probably the better bet. I bought this based on good things about the Netgear brand back in the good old days.

Could only blame myself for not doing enough research about the DumaOS

    • this happened to me tonight. did a power cycle reboot and then next thing i know the thing had factory reset itself. looked it up and lots of people have reported the same issue. anyone know if i can get a refund/exchange for a different router? i'm still within the 1 yr warranty

  • I have had the XR500 for a few years now and have never had any issues with it, but can't comment on the XR1000. Most people would probably go for prosumer grade Ubiquiti stuff over this. I don't game much anymore, and when I did rarely used the gaming features.
