A bit hard if you're renting though.
Teco and Kogan have vertical window air conditioners that suit rentals pretty well, work a little better than these units I've found, but the Teco is almost double in price to a portable unit like this.
To add: one-hose portable units can actually increase indoor temperatures.
Units with only one hose draw air in from the room that they're in and exhaust it out the window.
This draws hot air into the house from outside, cools it, and then exhausts the cooled air out the window.
If it's already cooler inside than outside your house is going to stay cooler with it off.
Its not a good explanation but Yes, they are very inefficient.
Air from the room is drawn into the filter/inlet at the rear of the unit essentially recycling the cooled air from within the room, the hose is only used to push the hot air from the condenser to outside.
The only heat drawn back in is from the uninsulated hose been so close to the inlet and from any poorly sealed window from the unit outlet, if these are minimised the portable units work quite well.
The air in the room has to come from somewhere.
As air is exhausted out the hot air hose more air is drawn inside from outdoors to replace it.

Can get 5.3kw at JB hi-fi for $595: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/dimplex-dc18-5-3kw-portab… . This is only 4.5kw. No deal I am afraid.
Came to say exactly this

decelerator?
Acceleration is a vector. Maybe his user name is referring to acceleration in the negative direction.
FYI, these (portable units) are very inefficient when it comes to power use. It has a zero star energy rating.
Where possible, aim for a split system or a window/box air conditioner. They are more efficient.
