Mine site supply contract fall through?

Does seem like a pretty sharp price - not that there’s many other available to public sources to compare it to…

Wouldn't 75 lumens be useless? I thought minimum you would want would be 1000

    • Think it was Automotive - MyCar

Yeah that's a no from me.

Blackwoods are a huge PITA to deal with, in my experience, so I avoid at all costs.

      • +2

I'm dealing with them right now and it's been a positive experience. Two out of two customer service reps were super nice and someone in accounts receivable was helpful

I also had a positive experience when buying, they shipped interstate at no extra cost just to get stock to me.

PS: to the others, I don't get spam either. Maybe I unsubscribed but you don't get badgered by random sister companies or mailing lists

      • I've had nothing but positive experiences with them.

Even when there's no stock at the local and I can't do click and collect from there, in most cases if I gave them a call they'd order some in from elsewhere as long as they could.

My very first time at blackwoods I walked in wanting to buy some safety equipment, with no real idea what I was doing. Store manager came out and spent 5 mins walking me through their PPE catalogue. I went away with a face shield and earmuffs, and a few weeks later I get a call that they had got in a few different styles of polarised safety glasses that I could try on.

Edit: I also don't get any spam, just what I chose to sign myself up for. Their workplace safety articles are actually quite interesting.

      Hard no from me also.

75 lumens is high power? My keychain light has more power. Speaking of headlamps I recently bought a Nitecore HC65 V2 (+ a 18650 batt) for about $90 inc GST and delivered from AliExpress. Infinitely better than this one for $30 more

Edit: if it has to be Intrinsically Safe then I would get: Nitecore HA23 EX 100 Lumens CREE XP-G LED Headlamp for about $75 inc GST delivered https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005001324255369.html?spm=a2…

    • I'm struggling to find a cert number for the Nitecore, in any of their documentation though, which is required for use in haz areas

Dang! Thats one exy headlamp! You can get poor man headlamp (100 lumens) for $3.95 from Bunnings:

That isn't an Intrinsically Safe Headlamp …

      • +4

Not many folk around here care enough for an intrinsically safe headlamp.

      • +2

Agree that items certified as intrinsically safe come with a hefty premium.

Unfortunately this is the wrong audience. The people here aren't going to be working in explosive atmospheres, they just want something they can wear while working on their car.

        • $6 Aldi one does me for PC building

  • +3

High power? Friends don't let friends buy overpriced low quality headlamps.

My best bang for buck head torch is the Sofirn SP40. Cheaper, brighter and waterproof. Don't get this junk.

    • Still have the SP40 from a year and a half ago. Still holds up very well after bumping and dropping it dozens of time.

    • +1

This is intrinsically safe though, it's not the same comparison

  • What does intrinsically safe mean

    • +2

Intrinsic safety (IS) is a protection technique for safe operation of electrical equipment in hazardous areas by limiting the energy, electrical and thermal, available for ignition. In signal and control circuits that can operate with low currents and voltages, the intrinsic safety approach simplifies circuits and reduces installation cost over other protection methods. Areas with dangerous concentrations of flammable gases or dust are found in applications such as petrochemical refineries and mines. As a discipline, it is an application of inherent safety in instrumentation. High-power circuits such as electric motors or lighting cannot use intrinsic safety methods for protection.

      • Does it come with certification?

        • +1

Yep, you can just make it out in the rear picture
          IECEx UL 08.0021

    • +2

It means it's safe to use in explosive atmospheres

    • For use in a hazardous environment & won't create sparks (ie a mine shaft or around certain chemicals / AVGAS)

  • +1

    Means expensive lol.

This will be perfect for my baked beans addiction.

  • +2

Avoid this blackwood at all costs, I still haven't fully refunded until now.

    • +1

Cost me shipping for their mistake. Never again!

  • -2

    Not a bargain, Cheaper elsewhere
