game descriptions:
In this award-winning cinematic action-thriller, troubled author Alan Wake embarks on a desperate search for his missing wife, Alice. Following her mysterious disappearance from the Pacific Northwest town of Bright Falls, he discovers pages of a horror story he has supposedly written, but he has no memory of.

Wake is soon forced to question his sanity, as page by page, the story comes true before his eyes: a hostile presence of supernatural darkness is taking over everyone it finds, turning them against him. He has no choice but to confront the forces of darkness armed only with his flashlight, a handgun and what remains of his shredded mind. His nightmarish journey to find answers to the mind-bending mystery he faces will lead him into the terrifying depths of the night.

Alan Wake Remastered offers the complete experience, with the main game and its two story expansions - The Signal and The Writer - in stunning new 4K visuals. The tense, episodic story is packed with unexpected twists, heart-stopping cliff hangers, and intense bursts of combat where it takes more than bullets to banish the darkness. The game’s cutscenes, quirky cast of characters, and the majestic Pacific Northwest vistas have been enhanced for an experience that delivers as much on its visual impact as its unnerving atmosphere.

For anyone on PC, the best price currently for the game is off Epic Games, at $18.57.

Exactly what I was going to ask, thank you

  • Anyone know if there is a difference between the XSX & PS5 version in terms of what runs better?

    • +1

highly doubt there would be any noticeable difference, this game is 2 decades old, they only touched up some textures, resolution bump and added HDR.

      • and added HDR.

They didn't even do that, the only way to get that is Auto-HDR on Series S/X & Windows 11.

Why not charge $129 for a remaster like Naughty Dog??

    • Would you prefer if they charged more?

      • Dictionary.com, facetious.

  • I'll def check this out in the $15 range. When did it come out? Suspect this will happen in coming months.

    • +1

      $9.80 at Turkish PSN store.

    Alan wakeboarding

  • Is this scary to play? Like Silent hill kind of scary or resident evil kind of scary?

    • It has its moments as most of the game is in the dark.

Have a look at some gameplay on YouTube is the best bet

    • +2

It’s neither. More thriller than horror. Not scary at all.

    • +1

Not overly scary, its meant to be a narrative driven game. Only the narrative isnt that great. The experience above average but worth it for a Remedy game.

      • +1

The vibe is fantastic if you like the pacific Northwest though

  • Was this any good? Kinda remember it being advertised but no one ever talks about it anymore.

    • Kind of good. A fairly enthralling story interspersed with a lot of repetitive monotonous shooting sections.
It is a polarising game if you read the reviews. Some loved it and others hated it.

I really enjoyed the first few hours and couldn’t wait to play it the next day, and then when I did I absolutely hated it.

      • My experience was kind of the opposite. I had trouble getting into it after multiple starts. One day it just clicked and I finished it. The story has a satisfying finale.

I tried the DLC but it didn't feel essential so I stopped. Im just a fan of Remedy in general, their art direction and the physics aspects of the game engine.

I'm confused. I thought this was an xbox exclusive?!

    • +1

The original was… but the "remastered" version is available on both Xbox and Playstation (and PC).

  • The action and shooting mechanics with the flashlight is super satisfyingn in this game. Plus it has great sound design and the story is interesting and pretty well paced.

Highly recommend it for anyone that hasn't played it. Just a good solid singleplayer. Which we don't get enough of nowadays.

Just an FYI it's $9.80ish through Turkish PSN. Highly suggest going that route, especially if you are starting up and wanting to build a digital catalogue.
