  • what the flying heck is this???

is this led made to look like old school bulbs?

    • lol that's what I was thinking as well

    • Yes - they're designed to mimic the "big" old school bulbs (G95 = 95mm diameter).

    • The good part - they look cool.

The bad part - every time you look at the bulb directly at the filament it will burn a mark into your retina's. Compared to the usual "diffused" LED bulbs which spread light more gently.

You can run these on smartlife/tuya, but I wasn't able to run tuya convert to flash them to tasmota/esphome.

    • Oh they are "smart" bulbs. I didn't catch that part from reading the title.

  • I went to JB Hi-Fi and got 2 for $15 and then went and got a 5% gift card.

  • Lenovo makes light bulbs now? Are they even good/reliable?

I once read that the most important part of the light bulb that needs to be of high quality is the converter inside the screw part. It needs to convert 240v to whatever the LED voltage is and if this part isn't made well the bulb is more likely to fail quickly.

    • Lady at JB was hella confused when I went to pick up my click and collect Lenovo product today. I told her they were light bulbs and she genuinely thought I was trolling

      • Yeah lol. Never heard of Lenovo light bulbs either. I later realised these are "Smart" bulbs, which kind of ties it to their "Smart" RGB LED Strips which I do remember seeing.
