You can play solitaire at 1000+fps

@Pugkin "Omg how is this a gaming laptop with only integrated graphics."

You're missing the point, this is a thin and light tablet with the form factor of a surface pro, the performance of this base tier is miles better than any surface pro config you will ever find, plus if you really want to game spend more on dedicated graphics or their external gpu dock.

This isn't some budget clamshell that's focused on highest performance per dollar.

        • +1

It's a Republic of Gamers laptop, aka a gaming laptop that can't game

        • I wouldn't say miles ahead, this thing throttles unless tweaked probably and even that cooling is not ideal. So essentially it's like slapping a V6 on a car and disabling two pistons.

Sure, benchmark-wise (when talking numbers), this will probably beat a top-spec surface pro 8, but what difference does it make when both thin and lights are more suited towards productivity rather than gaming? In this case, Surface pros will at least have better battery life and arguably better support.

      • Can connect to XG mobile GPU(RTX 3080) otherwise cloud gaming with xbox pass or GeForce now etc

To be fair, Intel's iGPU and integrated cards in general have come a long way.

Quite surprised actually at how well it can run some titles.

While impressive for integrated graphics, it's still far weaker than an entry level dedicated gaming GPU like the RTX 3050 or even last gen GTX 1650.
I really don't think it should be advertised as a "Gaming Laptop"

The YouTube link you sent seems a suspect because:

        1. They don't show the actual laptop they are using.
        2. No specification of the GPU driver or CPU are shown in the video itself to backup what they claim that they using, other than what can be tampered by the user.
      • is this true, that's is really impressive. is there anyone with a 12th GEN iGPU + dGPU can compare the results by disabling dGPU and play some games with the iGPU ?
I have a something called Tiger Lake GT1 on 11400H (Pixel/Texture filtrates seem to be about 1/8 th of RTX3060), is it same as the 12th gen one ?

    • The ROG flow is meant to be used with XG mobile to give it the GPU power it needs. Sadly it is marketed that way as ultra portable "gaming" laptop but actually needs extra hardware to make it work.

Nice looking machine. Got one for my mum.

Not sure about gaming but this does seem like a great option for productivity/work. From the few reviews of this model I've seen, it runs hot, battery life isn't great, and not to mention the software that controls everything is terrible, such as shame.

    • but doesn't run hot .. depends what you are doing of course .. controls work fine.

  • Wow … I paid $2299 in the first week of release about 4-5 mths ago .. new I was paying a premium but wow.

    • +3

      sorry . knew not new

    • What do you use the Z13 for?

At this price point without a dGPU there are heaps of lightweight AMD Ryzen 6000s laptops with 680M iGPUs that are capable of light gaming too.

  • I want the X16 Flow :(

      • I need to bring the price down a few hundreds before Im comfortable with that lol

        • +2

its really not a good price considering the specs

but again asus is the only company out here making bizzare 16' 2 in 1 gaming laptops so we aint got much choice

          • @Brrrrt: Yeah I think the mini led and 165 qhd touchscreen is the selling point on the X16

            • +1

@RegentHoney: It is. But for the high prices you would think Asus would have good QC for them…

And given the zephyrus duos mini led screen, it doesnt look like thats the case sadly. Many users have reported a humming noise and in many cases basically coil whine from the mini led screen. I hope they fixed this in the later batches.

              • @Brrrrt: Oh man I didn’t know they were also having QC issues. I couldn’t find a good deal on the M16 either. Asus said they’re launching an eStore by the end of the year so maybe they’ll have better deals.

  • +1

I'll offer $999 and a packet of nacho cheese doritos

    • I don't get ..

  • How much is Asus selling the dGPU for?

If only they had the 2022 Asus G14 on sale too, 1.5kg vs 1.65kg but not requiring a dGPU.

    • +1

      1.7grand

      • Hmm is the Z13 worth it as a gaming laptop then? $1600+$1700= $3300.

Compared to $3400 for the top specced Asus G14 with 32GB RAM + 1 TB SSD.

        • +1

If you wanted the portability at this form factor, then yes. this will do better in gaming than a g14, much better. AMD pulled a nvidia here, as the 6800s is really a low powered 6600xt while the 6800m is a lower powered 6700xt. so big performance difference between the 6800s and 6800m with seemly a difference of one character.

Otherwise alienware m17r5 with the 6850xt, plus an 6900hx, 32gb ram and the 4k120hz panel runs you 3.4k or 2.9k with a sale on.

Or you can do the recent 2.1k strix ae 6800m deal, but to reach similiar performance levels as either the m17r5 or this z13+egpu, you would need to upgrade both the ram and have an external monitor hooked up.

      • $1700 is too much just for the dGPU …

  • ROG

    Gaming Notebook

    No dGPU

    hmm

  • +1

JB Hi-FI currently has the ones with dGPU at a discounted price,

    RTX 3050Ti, i9-12900H, 16GB/1TB - $2799

    RTX 3050, i7-12700H, 16/512GB - $2479

    • Man just if they had 32gb ram options would bought in a heartbeat. The lack of ram is the only thing holding me and im sure a lot of people back who wanted an actual portable beast on the go. 16gb is really not enough for the beefy cpu its packing.
