It's my first post here so feel free to comment on any possible post format issues.

They may not be the lowest price in history, but still worth considering if you want to buy one.

I found them while looking for a Kobo Clara HD deal, although unfortunately, it's not on sale this time.

    My kobo h2o has been my sidekick since launch day.

    Amazing ebook reader, and emergency e-ink web browser.

    So glad I went with an open ecosystem rather than kindle's more closed choice (even though at the time imo, kindle paper was slightly whiter).

      That's why I'm waiting for a Kobo Clara HD deal while having a Kindle lol. The Kindle ecosystem is so close.

        I already have the kindle, but looking for Clara because of the weight and overdrive integration.

        Is Clara HD the go to? I’ve got an Aura (N514) that has just started having issues charging. I think the micro-USB port is damaged, it will charge but only if the cable is pulled up on an angle.

        Reads ePub format. Connects to libraries. Has an in-built web browser so you can download direct from lib gen.

          Kindles read epubs. That changed over a year ago.
          Kindles definitely connect to libraries through overdrive.

          The final point fair enough, but I’d rather search books on my computer and send through calibre rather than use a terrible e-ink browser. But that’s just me.

            @ONEMariachi: I didn’t realise Kindles had improved on those fronts. Kobos have read ePubs from the start.

            Of course managing a library is easier via PC but it’s nice to have a backup option on the go.

              @sween64: you can use your phone, and email it to the Kindle too. Another method I'd still prefer over an eink browser. They're awful.

            @ONEMariachi: The Kindle device itself has no native EPUB support. The EPUB file is converted when you use the Send-to-Kindle service, and eventually you will lose your book cover.

              @momok: That is no longer true, that changed over a year ago. It has native epub support now. Literally was doing it only last week. Getting errors for sending mobi files and the emails stating it has now got native epub support and they are removing mobi/azw support.

                @ONEMariachi: I just double-checked. The support of EPUB can only be done through the email service called Send to Kindle now. During this process, Amazon actually converted your EPUB files to AZW3 format before pushing them to your devices. Native supports means your devices can directly read EPUB files as you transferred them to your devices with no format converting, while Kindle can't do that.

                One obvious problem with the Send to Kindle service is that all formats transferred to your Kindle through it won't display covers properly in your library except for the old MOBI format, while Amazon said they will stop supporting MOBI in future. I know that won't be a problem for lots of Kindle users, but it really annoys me.

            @ONEMariachi: Most of us carry our kobo's, is the point.

            Not everyone carrys an x86 computer at all times.

            Im not going to defend the browser at all; its slow and clunky; but is great for live-checking wiki or dictionary.com as you read.

            But comparing it to an x86_64 PC also isn't even within the same playfield.

    I've had my libra 2 for over a month. First impressions were good but it's frozen on me several times (only fixed my holding power to restart) and the battery is not as good as kindle PW 10 gen that I switched from. The build is also very flimsy. On the plus side the buttons are very nice, adjustable front light is great on the eyes and the general reading experience is fantastic. Just wish they'd fix the software issues that have been around since it's launch. (Not bad enough for me to consider a refund yet but still disappointing).
    Also wouldn't recommend if you plan to read comics or manga.

      I had the same short battery life issues, but once I turned off wifi and bluetooth it was so much better!

        I've had bluetooth always off but I'll try turning wifi off since I only load from PC anyway. Still, shouldn't have to do this :(

      I like my libra 2 a lot although I wish I'd have just bought a Clara hd. The libra can't fit into my pockets like the old kindles I had and I didn't realise how useful that was. Having overdrive integration has saved me so much cash!

    I'm genuinely baffled as to why anyone would get one of these rather than a tablet at half the price. I use a Lenovo tablet for reading all the time and never had a problem.

      I've got a couple Android tablets and a decent sized phone.

      But yeah for reading a book I think kindles/kobo is just a much better experience.

      I'm on my phone for too much as it is. Kindle/kobo is like reading a physical book rather than looking at a screen that is begging to distract you with other things.

    Left my new Kobo Clara HD on a plane a week ago and lost it to the void forever… still so gutted 😢

        Yup, I called them twice and even contacted the lost and found at the airport. Unfortunately nudda :(((
        I always seem to lose at least one thing on holidays, pity it was my new Kobo and not my dignity as per usual.
