LAMY 2000 - Ballpoint Pen Gift Set - Blackwood $168 + $8.99 Delivery (Was $369) @ Milligram Outlet

110

Hey OzB.

I know nothing about this pen set but somehow stumbled across a few random comments about wanting this pen on sale. Funnily enough the site I was currently browsing has it on sale. I have no idea if it's the real deal as it's coming from an "outlet".

I was really only on this site searching for Bellroy stuff but stumbled across the LAMY 2000 as well as a few other things:

LAMY - Scala Brushed Steel Ballpoint Pen & 0.7mm Mechanical Pencil with Pouch $225 (was $399)

Pilot Pen - Metropolitan MR2 Gift Set - Ballpoint + Mechanical Pencil - Black Crocodile $27 (was $84.95) OOS

Edit:

Also:
Pilot Pen - Custom Heritage 92 Fountain Pen - Fine - Black $195 (was $349)
Pilot Pen - Custom Heritage 92 Fountain Pen - Medium - Clear $195 (was $349)
Pilot Pen - Metropolitan MR2 Gift Set - Ballpoint + Mechanical Pencil - White Tiger $31 (was $84.95)

Edit 2:

I have bought stuff including a Bellroy sling from these guys before and it seemed like the real deal. Very nice bag and everything was very nicely packaged. Even the box was really nice :D

Edit 3: They are now giving 20% off everything storewide I believe.

  • Wait for the: ‘$170 pen?!?’, this is not a good deal and I don’t share the values you share therefore they are unacceptable’ gang

      Reporting in.

Not a deal - I got a free pen at a conference I attended. Only stupid people spend more than nothing on a pen. The existence of pens that cost more than nothing is unacceptable.

Knew what I was clicking, clicked anyway!

Justin Roiland as the Earl of Lemongrab.

    • I can barely afford milk lol

  • Well, I'd suggest people get a Lamy Studio instead.

The 2000 is their iconic oddball. The Studio has a nice "Bauhaus" design if you want the Lamy aesthetic, the nibs are super easy to change over and can be used on nearly all the Lamy range (including the Dialog3 and Dailog CC, Safari etc) if you buy other Lamy branded pens, all that is EXCEPT the 2000

OK, the 2000 kinda started it all for Lamy so there is that but unless you are interested in Lamy themselves, I'd suggest don't get the 2000 series :)

Anyway just my observation but I have a Lamy Studio and a Dalog3

    • You seem to know a lot about these pens. How is this one?

      LAMY - SCALA - Fountain Pen - Medium - Infinite Orange $225 (was $599)

You are like the Patrick Bateman of pens.

      • New pen … what do ya think

        • That's bone. And the lettering is something called Silian Grail.

    • +1

I'd suggest not bothering with any Lamy fountain pen except the 2000 (which is a must own). The steel nibs are super underwhelming. I barely use my Scala (which is also hella uncomfortable to hold).

I would, however, suggest getting a Studio rollerball because they are sexy as hell and write like a dream. Especially the glacier blue.

I beg to differ. The Safari is an excellent fountain pen.

I'd suggest getting a Montblanc pen instead which generally has better resale value.

      • Amazon reviews of the cartridges in the studio rollerball aren't great.

nice & comfortable pen with the worst ink cartridges in the world.

I'm long for something comfortable that i can use as EDC, but still be a bit special. Any other suggestions?

  • Is the MR2 pen any good?

  • Damm the kaweco supra is pretty cheap too https://outlet.milligram.com/products/kaweco-supra-fountain-…

    • As someone who just uses a gel ink pen I have no idea unfortunately. I can only go by what they claim it used to be and of course google. There do seem to be quite a few good prices. Easier if you know what to look for though.

      • I paid more for my kaweco liliput which is generally a cheaper model.

I'm a bit of a fan of these series of pens, full metal construction with screw top meaning if there's ever a leak it won't go through your pocket. Plus you can always add a converter for like 5 extra dollars and use your own inks.

Kaweco - AL Sport - Ballpoint Pen - Light Blue $29 (was $129) Seems like a nice cheap Father's day gift. Quick look at reviews suggest it could be a bit too small for some people. Most reviews I quickly skimmed through didn't really like it. Still, I'm sure there are some people who would appreciate a small pen like it.

  • I finish my uni degree this week and have been thinking about buying a nice mechanical pencil (im studying to be an accountant and will use a mechanical pencil every day) to celebrate. Too bad neither of these do it for me because the saving look great.

    • +1

Did you see the deal I posted the other week for the Rotring mechanical pencils? Pretty good deals, the 600 is still on a good deal through Amazon au

      • +1

I did. That's what made me think about getting a fancy one to celebrate haha. I have been doing a little bit of googling since then and the one I like the look of the most so far is called otto hutt design number 2 pinstripe mechanical pencil. It's about $180 though.

        • $180! Thats fancy 😁

          • @Perrino: that's a high-yield investment pencil

            • @tdw: Hi price, low yield. I do get the auto reference though.

If you're going to a big 4 they have plenty of stationary and people generally just use the company supplied stuff. Same goes for banks as well. Most just use the supplied stationary. Only the very pretentious or fresh grads will buy something really expensive and look out of place

  • Fun fact I found out during my 2 week pen addiction. No matter how expensive body you get, you're still writing with a $1 refill. Everyone just goes back to the trusty pilot G2/Sarasa or energel needle tips.

  • I must be mildly unusual (as an Ozbargainer) as I still get impressed when I see a starwalker or above in someones pocket.

  • Not sure how subscribe works. I'll add a comment here too.

They are now giving 20% off everything storewide I believe.
