Hisense ULED U8G going for $2288 @ JB. My local store didn't have stock so I got The Good Guys to price match over the phone.
I haven't seen it cheaper anywhere.
RRP $5499
Myer $3999
Most other retailers $2999

Not great. The Australian models are different to the US ones. This doesn't have HDMI 2.1 or 4K 120Hz (only 60)
The answer I was looking for thanks.
Interesting. I have the 75 inch. And it has both of them.
These models and HDMI versions are very confusing!
@MrGareth: Umm yup.
Can post a screen shot from the Xbox.
Also the back panel says HDMI 2.1 120k hz on one of the HDMI ports.
But I also did see a video where Xbox shows all tv features but in reality they are not present.
But mines 75 inch version. Not sure about 85 inch.
@faraz4oz: Interesting as most websites I see seem to indicate the opposite:

@faraz4oz: How can I post a picture?
I'll do after this round of DOTA
Of the U8G? Who did you buy from and can you link the page please?
@reloxation: JB hi-fi
@faraz4oz: Shit sorry. Mine is U80G. Not U8G.
@faraz4oz: That’s a high end 8k screen…. And costs about 4 and a half grand 😳
@MrGareth: Yup. My bad on that!
Do you mean the Hisense ULED 75" U7HAU 4K QLED Full Array Smart TV [2022]?
If you only plan on using a Nintendo switch, then it’s fine.
On an 85" screen..?
If u want to game, go for U7HAU or higher.. 2022 models.. they have HDMI 2.1 and 120hz
While I agree with you in principle, it's worth noting that neither the PS5 or Xbox Series X will be able to do 120hz gaming unless they are running older games that have been patched for high framerate. The PS5 struggles to get 60fps @ 4k on recent games like Horizon Forbidden West.
Even my 2018 i7 gaming PC with a GTX 1080 is going to struggle to get above 60fps @ 4k resolution. It will be a fair while before 120hz gaming is something I need in my life, and TBH I'm too old for competitive gaming these days.
Nice find. Good job on your 1st post.
This is a really nice TV. For the money you won't buy better
This
isisn’t a really nice TV
Please show me the better set for the same price
Have you actually owned one or are you just parroting the anti-Hisense hysteria?!?
I'm happy that you enjoy your really nice TV
This has HDMI 2.1 and FALD for around same price https://www.videopro.com.au/product/tcl-85p735-85-4k-hdr-tv-…
@Ryballs: Looks like it has HDMI 2.1 but a 60hz panel?
Good price though
@parkmichael: TCL, not true HDMI 2.1 given it's a 60hz panel. So it is "Partially HDMI 2.1 compliant, same as the Hisense".
Not FALD (which the Hisense is) or even local dimming at all according to TCL.com.au
This is a TCL with true HDMI 2.1 - but over $1000 more

Both TCL and Hisense have 3 year warranties.
I don't and wouldn't ever buy TCL so can't comment on their support but in my experience Hisense warranty support is top notch.
I see all the comments about this not being the USA version. To a semi-tech-minded person, can someone please tell me: for a non-gamer who uses TV with Kodi/FireTV to watch movies, shows etc what’s the real impact of not having 120Hz@4K? Is this TV real Full Array? What’s better than this within 10% of this price? Thanks!
Before you even start to be concerned with 120@4K you needs a decent panel.

"The motion on my unit is terrible, the worst of any TV I've owned and I've previously had a TCL and budget LG.
The ghosting is so significant that watching any action scene leads to frustration and disappointment due to the picture honestly looking messy, you would think it was the cheapest 75 inch TV available.
There is obvious blooming issues too and weak contrast due to due to it being an IPS panel, not a VA (Not that this is disclosed anywhere on the spec sheet/online when I tried to research myself before pre-ordering)."
Thanks mate! Appreciate the detailed research & response.
Hisense makes nosense
I'm pretty sure the U8 and U9 are not full smart TV and you can't download apps like 9 Now I view etc. Daughter bought from HN and had to return it. Salesman didn't mention anything to her.
Currently it has ABC, 9 and SBS but not 10 or 7. Vidiaa is annoying. Fortunately Binge got added recently but yeah at the mercy of Hisense.
Thanks. I absolutely didn't believe her when she told me. It's 2022 and you're paying $1K and you can get a real smart TV for half that and they don't tell you? And HN wastes their time when people return and opened 65 inch TV they won't be able to sell.
I have the 55" version, found the picture washes out at a fairly moderate angle (45). I understand (now) that it is related to the panel type. Just recommend you take it into account wrt your lounge room layout.
These guys do good reviews and mention viewing angles of TVs. https://www.rtings.com/ Most TVs have that limitation.
I have a 55" atm and looking to upgrade to a bigger screen BUT 95% of the content is being watched by 6yo kids
So is it worth entertaining the notion of 85" … or should I just get a cheap 75" (ie: The Aldi one) until 85" gets cheaper (or another cheaper 85" that anyone can recommend??)
Is this good for gaming?
