The replacement filter is very expensive and it needs to be replaced regularly

Thank you. Very useful insight. I think this is the "printer cartridge" approach to profit making.

Replacement filter is stated by Philips to last 36 months / 3 years . Is that what you mean my regularly?

      Source: I own this model.

They're probably thinking of the non-i models, which are 12months.

I'm stuck with a bunch of non-i's myself that I can't justify replacing the filters on. I do wonder about the 36month claim though, since you have the model, did you read any where what the testing conditions were for that?

Most people just run them 24/7 and it's pretty unlikely you're getting 36months with that usage rate.

        • +2

Unsure of the testing conditions but from my experience its probably 'used' 10% of the filter in 6 months according to the on screen indicators.

I think if you clean them regularly it would help the filter reach the 3 years.

          • @Andrewskates: Yeah those indicators are usually just time based, I'm guessing you don't run it 24/7?

Still those numbers are promising thanks.

  • Bought it 495 and haven't even opened it yet, got it 10 days ago. Unfortunately Amazon don't do price match for their own price. If i return my old one and reorder not sure if it will affect my cashback as its already been submitted

  • This, or the 2000i for a two bedroom apartment?

    • We have one of this for the living+dining+kitchen (65sqm) and it’s just about right. Getting a smaller Xiaomi one for each of the bedrooms.

      • Amazing! Thank you. We planned on putting this one in our bedroom, but sounds like it’ll be overkill. Could the 3000i do the whole apartment, or are they designed to be used in one open space, rather than separate rooms (with doors open obviously)?

        • Best would be one whole open space. I'd imagine it would be pretty hard to get enough air circulation to cover the whole apartment with multiple rooms.

Plus I find vacuuming 3 times a week and wet wiping down surfaces once weekly really help with all our allergies.

  • it is 649.00 now have I missed the deal?

    • The 2000i is still heavily discounted

  • It changed to 649 as I added it to cart. Looks like its expired.

  • I grabbed another, I have noticed the difference since using it plus they don't use much power so you can run them 24/7.

The filter are expensive but I have setup camelcamelcamel to alert me on a good price.

I did I have an issue connecting it to the app but the turn off wait 10 seconds turn on fixed the connection issue.

    • May I know the link for the filter that you mentioned?

I have also grabbed another one, as I liked the first one so much. I tested the power usage on Auto - (fan was at its lowest speed) with my Power-Mate Lite (power consumption meter) and the cost to run it 24/7 for a year at this speed was just over $11. Reduced to $8 on night mode. I also had to do the turn off, and then back on to fix the initial connecting problem.

  • I bought this on an impulse during the last deal even though I had no use for it. That new filter cost put me off.

So I sold it on marketplace for no loss. I reckon that was a good decision since the price seems to be going further down quite regularly now

  • Back in stock now
