Hey guys,
was searching for a little hand held vacuum for my car and came across this little gem. Bunnings have it for $108 so tried to get it price matched and all i can say is that the staff that was on today were very unprofessional. Not to be offensive but the cashier lady looked like a bitter 50 year old and she couldnt even read what the product was and when she called for someone to handle my request, that lady couldnt wait to get rid of me, didnt even bother to check anything. She then said that they dont price match online listings, which is fair enough, but then i showed her this from the bunnings website "Bunnings’ price guarantee applies to any cheaper price found on an on-line store or in a physical store in Australia. It applies where the other store’s final price, inclusive of delivery, taxes, fees and charges, is lower than our price" and she was like "oh shit" and just said "well im not doing it". I even just asked her to explain the clause to me and she just looked away. So misleading.
Anyway so i ended up getting it from Godfreys :D haha

Welome to Australia…
No wonder the retail is falling month by month. What I wonder: why is anybody shocked about it??
Not shocked but I feel bad when I hear of companies going bust, not because I like the companies, but mostly for the people losing work/security.
That being said, I will be waiting out-front of my local Good Guys for the day their time comes with a big grin on my face handing out centrelink papers.
But then you get staff mentioned like above, who try to deny every request under their policy. Of course, staff have to be responsible, but equally some act like it's their money being handed out and refuse things that are even accepted under company policy. When they should be knowing their policy correctly upfront, or checking, not being incorrect and arguing with the customer.
Yup sounds like 100% of my visits to the Good Guys.
I honestly have not come out of there without an argument.
does it actually work better then say a dyson handheld vacuum cleaner?
Such as the DC34?
Whats different about this and a portable vacuum cleaner?
price and suction power
Come on man…. you cant compare it to a Dyson.
My main vacuum is a Dyson, and no way could anyone compare a Black & Decker to that. No way.
Dyson (>$270) definitely better than B&D ($69)
Choice's comparison with Dyson and other brands

meh… i'm still blindly loyal to dyson ;).
as long as im happy, thats all that counts :).
If you have a westpac altitude rewards card with enough points you can claim it for free. I got two when B&D pivot 18V had a 20% points discount…it only came to 20,000 points each.
I am really not surprised it scored the best. It's so fantastic that I got one for my mum and mil and my family and friends have gone and bought one.
There's a world of difference between a 12V and 18V handheld. Get the 18V….I wouldn't even want a 12V if you gave it to me.
Dammit, beaten to it… Good work trump3
That is the cheapest I've seen them for. I bought one of these couple of years ago, and returned it to get a Electrolux. Nothing wrong with it, but Electrolux went on special and was only $40 difference. Electrolux was a lot better.
Electrolux was a lot better.
Not according to the Choice test in trump3's link.
I have this model I believe, and it's terrible. Extremely loud noise and not much sucking power, plus the pathetic battery life.
Have this for a while and it sucks :) Bought for $100+ and while it does its job well, it's quite loud and has short battery life.
LOL crap I hope its not that bad
What's worse is people like this get a job, when perfectly good people don't even get a look in at the job. I just bought a B&D DV1610-XE, it SUCKS…yes, i went there…it is good, only problem is there are no accessories (like a narrow nozzle).
I previously bought the larger model Pivot vacuum the red floor one.
And its a total POS! never buying anything from them again.
- Screws falling out
- Cheap plastic
- blocks up easily
- Need to stick your hand in the Dust and muck to pull the filter out.
got a similar item for free on the altitude rewards program..
not bad..is that the same brand as this, what model is it? Cheers.
i used to sell all this type of stuff in a past life, most if not all hand held are just to weak for any real cleaning EXCEPT for the dyson handheld.
Another review.
http://nz.bestintests.org/p/black-decker-dustbuster-pivot-12…Decided to take the plunge. I had been looking for a cheap handheld vacuum. Hopefully it is not as bad as what others say. I just need it to clean up food crumbs from floor, and small stuffs from the car.

I got the one from westpac altitude rewards…that's more like $160 but it's 18V. Very powerful and does a brilliant job. I won't use Dyson handheld because it's too bulky and loses charge in 5 mins. My friends who have it say they hate it.
But we have the compact dyson DC24 upright which is brilliant for a proper vacuum. I prefer vacuums that are lightweight.
I got one of these… pretty good, but VERY loud and tinny sounding.
