With more of these PCIe gen 4 SSDs being discounted, need a motherboard that supports 10 or more PCIe gen 4 SSDs…. or 10 PS5s.

  • Is this the fastest drive available for the PS5? People on amazing mention the PS5 caps at 6500MB/s read anyway.

    • +1

Yeah, between WD SN850 and Samsung 980 Pro

      • I just bought a WD Black SN850 2tb for $320 inc postage via Amazon UK.. and the price has dropped a further $6 since then! But there's a wait for delivery. This Seagate is a tiny bit faster in theory though. https://www.amazon.com.au/WD_Black-Internal-Gaming-Technolog…

        • Um.. that is the one without Heatsink :P
But yeah, I am not an expert so not sure if Seagate will drop faster or not, but it is showing only 4 left now..

  • What is the Warranty from US with Seagate AU ?

    • To be honest, I am not sure. I thought we can contract Amazon for warranty?

    • +2

Yes and always at worst Amazon AU is really good with warranty, i had to make a claim for something recently and the product comes with 2 years warranty the vendor said it wont support it due to being shipped from Amazon AU vis US and Amazon said they would refund and i can re-buy it or another product and covered the shipping costs back,

Really happy with Amazon AU support and warranty for Amazon shipped/sold items,

  • I just bought the 1TB for $200 each off FB marketplace. Guy sold them face to face locally to me.

Checked serials on Seagate verification and all good. So cheap!

    • You do know that with Phison E18 based SSDs, the 2TB ones are better optimised than the 1TB ones right?

Also, if you ever needed to do a warranty return, an invoice is required so hopefully, the seller gave you the original invoice as well. SSD makers are cheeky, they will use the invoice date to work out the warranty period so all these online purchases, technically have a few days less warranty.

      • Ah right yeah I didn't get the original invoice because they were bought in bulk I think. Good point though.

As far as difference between 1 and 2TB, it was an issue of cost. I could only find the 1TB lowest for $320. So $200 was a really good deal. Working real well in my ps5

  • Also Amazon UK has the heatsinkless versions for about the same price on back order,
