We can buy a 4080 gaming PC at this price by the end of 2025. The craziness of mining has gone and the price of any tech device will go down the minute you own it.

    • +3

I honestly doubt it. Was it ever possible to buy an entire RTX 2080 PC many years after launch for $1000? There’s a limit to how low it can go in a year.

    • +1

We can buy a 5080 gaming PC at this price by the end of 2028. The craziness of mining has gone and the price of any tech device will go down the minute you own it.

    • +1

You can buy a 2nd hand at fb marketplace for that price, not brand new, not a chance.

    I said god damn !

    Is pricing competitive?

    12100f+gigabyte h610m - $250 recent ozb deal
    6600xt - $400 recent ozb deal
+RAM($80)+SSD($60)+PSU($60)+case($60)=$910 total delivered to your door. Save $140 once postage in deal included. Use that to get someone to build it if you don't want to. Or do some upgrades. Or choose a case you like.

  • I've been shopping for deals last few months to build my first pc with similar specs. With the optional upgrades this is great value at this time. I would get this if I wasn't almost done shopping.

  • What does marketing label mean?

    • +2

It's marketing for tech fast. Luke works there

    • -1

Definitely couldn't have anything to do with the word marketing.

Round Mouse Pad ($2.75) is pretty good. Good weight and suitable to use on the couch.

  • 12400F should be a $90 upgrade based on market prices ($250 - $160 = $90 | 12400F - 12100F).
What are the ram timings, better yet, what are the full specs of the ram?
CLC options are weak, I can pick up a 280mm for $79, why would I spend a $99 upgrade on a 120mm AIO (which are awful btw), should be an air cooler option and maybe $99 for a 280mm AIO.
Which model of mATX boards? Both chipsets
    Which model of RTX 3060?
Which model for all of the SSD options and HDDs?
Other than that, and maybe a few other questions like why only MSI or Gigabyte for the PSU instead of say Cooler Master, Corsair or EVGA (you know, solidly reliable well known PSU reseller maker brands), the PC will probably boot yeah.

These are put together with whatever parts they have in stock or can get to meet their pricing and requirements
If you want specific parts you'll pay for the privilege elsewhere or better off putting together yourself

      • -3

If you want specific parts you'll pay for the privilege elsewhere…

No, you’ll save $200+ if you build it yourself.

        • +3

Exactly what I said in my last sentence champ

  • Finally a prebuilt with 3060 below $1k, so its not a dream anymore!

    • Remember when the whole card cost this much.

      AlienC remembers.

I had a terrible and incorrect build from Techfast. After putting up with the awful construction, I recently paid a local computer shop to rectify with a new case and installation.

    • I don't know if a prior bad customer experience is a reason to neg this deal. Also, surely you could've returned the PC to be repaired under warranty? What about the build was "incorrect"?

      • +8

        Valid neg:

        "Issue with retailer (For example:)
Previous purchases were not received or the shipping time exceeded what was expected. Example 1 Example 2
Issues arose which were not rectified in a satisfactory or timely manner."

I wish there were more negs on ozbargain. Have a look through all the deals - there are basically no negs. It's hard to make it stick and when people do neg they generally get slammed. Why even bother having a neg button that no one uses except for the super obvious cases?

      • +1

I don't know if a prior bad customer experience is a reason to neg this deal.

        You do now.

Also, surely you could've returned the PC to be repaired under warranty?

Sure, you can pay to ship it back to them, and enjoy the fun times waiting for them to fix it, which will be a VERY long time.

My advice is to always buy local for prebuilt PCs. Especially local pickup, which TechSlow don’t do anymore

    • +1

Could you please be a bit more specific? What was terrible about the build? What was incorrect? What sort of support did Techfast offer when you contacted them about the issues?

    • agree TOKEN8, did not have a good experience and bad build quality with bad quality parts (USBs, WIFI). just never worked well.

    • Hi TOKEN8,
I am sorry to hear you had a poor experience with us.
If you could provide me with your order number and some details regarding this via PM I would be happy to look into it.
      Cheers,
      Caleb

  • Good build for a casual light gamer or student gamer.

  • -5

This isn't a deal. For an extra $2000 I could get all the good parts I want.

  • Recently I've built my own but did got with a budget build a few years ago with an AMD 2200G from TechFast. It's still running solidly and updated the CPU to AMD 3200G (recent BIOS does allow upto 5950X but you wouldn't do that on that sort of PC). The specs were definitely budget build but I haven't had the bad construction or poor support experience that another poster had.

I am not associated with TechFast but they do put up decent deals. With this one I'd say 'Yes' if I was buying a budget build today. About the only thing I'd want for the price is a 12400F instead of a 12100F but likely the < $1k pricing can't be met with a profit margin then.

  • Curious what I should be in the market for in the near future.

Current specs are i5 4670k and a GTX 980TI. I run 2-3 1440p monitors and game on the middle one always at 2k if the game runs okay. I play things like Tarkov, GTA, rocket league, arma, sea of thieves all at 1440p from memory. I don't have time to play a lot any more but I know my PC is nearing end of life.

i know any current GPU is an upgrade from mine but should I shoot a bit higher and go for a 3070 over the bottom end?

    • +1

You're right on the GPU being 3070/RX6700 XT level. That is the norm for 2K gaming and should last you for years longer.

As for CPU current 12th Gen Intel like a 12400K or AMD 5600X should be fine and the motherboard to support that CPU, make sure the Mobo supports PCI Gen4 NVME drives and PCIE Gen4 GPU (most mid-range boards do by now). I think mid-range would be the guiding principle and not high-end for any particular component. It would be difficult or impossible to have a 'noticeable' difference.

You could first try the modern motherboard with CPU + GTX 980Ti and see how well it runs for you and then if there are some games that are slow then get the 3070/RX 6700XT. Usually these days a 1-2 month difference does mean better deals (the big risks on pricing are supply: Crypto resurgence or China/Taiwan supply disruption).

      • Thanks, hadn't considered the benefits of a motherboard, cpu and maybe ram upgrade to start with. Would certainly lessen the sting in the short term.

  • When does coupon expire?

  • Luke/Caleb: Is it possible to get this with the MAG Forge 100R case?

    • If you can message us your request at [email protected] we should be able to look into this for you.

  • I have to say.. I've bought from techfast a few times and not only are they actually very slow. They have terrible customer service and quality control.

First I purchased a PC and they sent the entire thing in parts when it was meant to be a prebuild. So I had to take the whole package back to the post office to send it back to them and wait all again for them to actually build the PC and send it.

Secondly I specifically asked for them not to send one particular brand of GPU, they advertised they had a few different brands being sent out. They sent the only one I didn't want.

Thirdly I requested that I receive the GPU box, they did not send it.

Fourth, when the PC arrived it had been built so poorly that fan cables were in the way of the fans and made a terrifying sound as soon as I switched on the PC. Is it that hard to pull the cable taut and cable tie it to a fixing point in the back of the case?

Fifth, one of the RAM modules was not fixed in place upon arrival, they have a locking mechanism so it obviously wasn't ever actually connected properly.

Sixth, the PC would not boot to Windows after resolving the RAM issue. Had to spend an hour troubleshooting and playing in the BIOS as they hadn't set the PC up properly. They hadn't set boot priority and I had to disable 'LAN PXE Boot Option ROM' and 'Network Stack'.

Seventh, the system did not have any network drivers installed. I was instructed to use a second PC to download them and then manually install them myself.

After all this the PC seemed to be okay for a while. After a couple of months the PC would just auto shut itself down. I have had a lot going on in life and I own another system so I put it in the too hard basket for a while.

Then 2 months ago I finally contacted them to advise what was going on with the shut-down issue.
It turns out the poor quality AIO that they supplied is faulty. They say that the system is no longer under warranty but the AIO is, and if I want it to be replaced I have to pay for shipping both ways and wait for it to be assessed.

This would cost me roughly $34 in shipping (not including shipping insurance) and waste even more of my time. I don't trust the competence of the staff there for obvious reasons so I decided to replace the cooler myself. Low and behold the system hasn't crashed once since.

Now TechFast won't budge on replacing the AIO unless I agree to pay shipping both ways.

All in all, a freaking nightmare to deal with. ACCC states that buyers are entitled to recover reasonable postage costs if items are found to be faulty.

    TechFast doesn't care.

Terrible company with terrible customer service and quality assurance.

Never again will I deal with them and I will be spreading that message far and wide.

  • Hi Luke, I am very interested in this build, would it be possible to add a hard drive (1 or 2 TB would be enough) and how much would that cost?

    • Nevermind, I just realised the option is literally staring at me :)
