        I don't care. I love it!

Has anyone actually weighed how much chicken (including batter) you get for $10?

      • +31

Yes, several times. I math my way through life.

I weighed the box before feasting, threw bones back in box, down the side of the slip of paper lining the box.
(I'm a leave no meat behind/ scrape bones of all flesh kind of chicken eater too including crunch down cartilage)

Weighed remaining box and bones. Fairly consistently the delta shows it's 1kg of meat, skin and batter you're getting for $10.

I only get my KFC news from my trusted informant brandogs.

  • +4

Nice! One of my favourite KFC deals.

  • +23

After having Red Roosters fried chicken recently, I'm not sure if I can go back to KFC. Might just disappoint

    • +41

Then don't ever try Korean Fried Chicken, the rest of your chicken eating life will be a forever disappointment. Goto a Korean restaurant, not the Nene chicken stuff.

      • +4

        So Gami?

        • +6

Pelicana probably the best in Australia after a extensive search by yours truly.

        • theyve got some good stuff

        • -1

tried Gami, didnt like, every flavour is garlicy

        • +4

ICG (Incredible Chicken) - actual service and other yummy dishes to blow your mind.

Nene and Gami are too fast food styled.

          • +1

@hippo2s: ICG has really tasty snow cheese flavouring, others use a cheap tasting sugar cheese…

        • +1

Gami is good as you can get beer and friend chicken pairing.

My recommendation would be Haysung Korean Chicken at Springvale VIC if you're there. Their creamy onion chicken is worth the trip.

        • +2

Springy isn't too far from me, only about 20 minutes. I'll give it a go, thanks for the recommendation

        • +1

Thanks for the rec, will have to try it out

        • Will put it on the to-try list!

      • +5

I enjoy KFC's semi-emulsified saltiness/MSG at under half the price of Korean fried chicken.
        Both very different.

        • +7

Same. Korean stuff is definitely nice but also usually twice the price if not more. And sometimes the flavour I'm after that night is not snow-cheese or sweet chilli, but a greasy fill of 11 herbs and spices lol

        • ^^this

Korean fried chicken normally cost $27 for half and $39-40 for whole.

      • nothing special about the chicken, its just a heap of sugar in the crumb and sauce.

        • You're right in saying theres nothing special in the chicken.
          They use normal chicken.

The batter is usually plain and they fry it twice to give it better crunch.
The sauce is usually made and tossed with the chicken before serving.

The entire process takes at least twice as long as a high school kid dumping a new batch into a vat.

      • I've had Korean Fried Chicken multiple times at different Korean restaurants and specialty Korean Fried Chicken places.

While they are good., I've never met a deep fried chicken I didn't like haha.

I think Korean Fried Chicken is slightly over-rated and not sure they are game changers IMO. I enjoy both, including KFC when cooked well. I've had some greasy KFC which wasn't good.

I've started making my own deep fried chicken. Marinating in buttermilk overnight IS a game changer for me.

      • KentuckyFC Hot and Spicy makes for great hybrid KoreanFC too. I mix up various sauces using Gochujang paste and toss broken up chicken in it (more surface area if broken into smaller chunks).

Leftover Hot&spicy also makes for great sweet& sour chicken (Chinkiang black vinegar, brown sugar, soy, tomato sauce).

        • The best was KFC Tabasco (Hot & Spicy coated with Tabasco sauce) … really hope they bring that promo back!

      • I love the Korean stuff but you really can't beat this KFC deal for bang/weight per $. Still don't know why they don't make hot n spicy available as a menu item, less greasy and keeps crunchy longer

    • +17

Red Rooster is crispy and tasteless

      • +1

I rate it higher than KFC, but that's just my preference

        • -5

          They also cost more too

Red Rooster has no direction and should close already

But I won't say no to their free stuff

        • +2

Have u tried chicken treats crunchified chicken? I rate them higher than kfc

      • +1

Yeah tried it with some recent deals, didn't see the hype. Apparently the spicy one is much better, but haven't brought myself to go back and try.

        • +3

Ya I tried that I swear it's just coated in spicy oil but not very tasty

          • @Poor Ass: I found the spicy one salty . Too salty twice that I tried it.

      • I had assume yesterday. It burnt my tongue.

      • +1

the reds hot version is nice but the regular RR fried chicken I agree, very bland. But crunchy at least

      • +3

        crispy and tasteless

Similar to the best comments on OzB

      • Must have had a bad batch.. I was so surprised at how good it was (and the sauce)

        • there's no sauce for just the plain fried chicken

    • Heard it's fried chicken with mie goreng taste, is this true?

      • +8

It's more like fried chicken with no flavour. The batter is really good, but KFC hands down wins on flavour

        • +3

Yep, great crunch but there is no flavour. If they could combine KFC seasoning with the Red Rooster crunch, they'd be onto a winner.

        • Not for me. The spicy one was amazing.

      • Can confirm it tastes like Thai Tom Yum flavour. Sweet, sour and spicey kind of vibes.

    • +4

Everything about Red Rooster is so inconsistent, even at the same place. At least I know if I go to my local KFC I'll get nice chicken, good burgers and undersalted, soggy chips every time.

      • +7

Meh, KFC is inconsistent too, sometimes greasy, sometimes crunchy, sometimes overcooked. At least the flavour is consistent.

      • Chips have been crap since they changed from palm oil to canola.

      • +4

Sometimes you even get all the stuff you ordered

      • +1

I find out of all the fast food places, KFC are the biggest hit or miss on the burgers. But we continue to eat it for the 1 in a 100 stacked, fresh, hot burger.

    • +1

Only Popeyes has topped KFC in my books

  • +1

    is this nationwide?

  • I think so it is $10.95 for QLD

    • +1

      Hope not

    • +2

Saw the ad on TV, definitely $9.95 in QLD.

    • Its $10.95 in Victoria too

      • Says $9.95 in my app for pickup, I'm in Vic.
        Is it $10.95 delivered?

  • +12

No Hot n Spicy no go.

    • Agreed but I think you can always change to Hot n Spicy.

      • +2

I only know of a single store in Sydney CBD that has it as regular menu item. Can't just change it if it's not on the menu.

        • Town Hall right? I heard the Broadway one near UTS (not inside the mall) might as well but haven't confirmed.

        • As well as artarmon and v the one on the pacific hwy - lindfield

        • the one on Haymarket has it all year long too, and usually much less crowded than the corner store

        • +3

          Artarmon
          Broadway
Chatswood Station (there's 3 kfcs at chatswood pretty sure its just this one)
          Dulwich HIll
          George St, CBD
          Haymarket
          Lindfield

          • @brnaodn: Do any of these stores allow you to choose hot n spicy on the app? The last time I tried months ago it didn't show.

    • -5

Hot n Spicy makes it Thin n Runny 🥺

      • When they have it, its nowhere near as good as the original back in the day.

Is Town Hall the only one that has it as a regular on the menu?

      • +2

Had Hot and Spicy this year when they brought it back briefly.

It was neither hot nor spicy. I think they changed their spice level.

Maybe too many "woke" kids these days saying the level of spice is not "inclusive" for people who cant tolerate spice.

  • Waiting for the everywhere and forever deal

  • +8

They can give me ~$1.10 chicken pieces but I can't get lettuce on my zinger burger?

    • +3

Only the finest lettuce-fed chickens go into your Zinger burger

    • It's getting worse, too. Even less stock of lettuce coming into stores now.

  • hope it is 9 piece hot and spicy
