what's the best iOS wifi diag tool?

    • +49

Tim Apple says, for your own protection, you don’t want to know. And if you need to know, you’re probably mistaken. Think different. Or if you already think different, then think the same

Nice. Have something very weird going on with both the Moto G50 5Gs here at home, where data on both wifi and mobile suddenly drops to a crawl. Hopefully this will help troubleshoot.

Does anyone know a quality android app that will automatically disable wifi when the signal drops below a set threshold? My connection stays up all the way down my street but is not useable - would love to speed up the process because the automatic switch is painfully slow.

  • +12

Not sure why people would use this - who still has reception issues these modern age? We all got our jabs already.

    • not everyone is on 5G

      • +11

This is why we need everyone to get their shots. It's that small % that didn't get their jab that leads to 5G reception blackspots and ruin it for rest of us. We need everyone to play their part and relay the 5G signals.

        • +2

Yeah maybe I wasn’t clear. I think some jabs are faulty, and/or lots of people have had placebos (or worse) injected into them.
Evidence: patchy 5G signal in SOOO many locations.

@andresampras: I am so sorry to hear that. I didn't think Bill Gates had stooped so low that he allowed fake microchips in his vaccines.

            • -1

@CptnObvious: Now now, no need to attack Willy Gates.

It's entirely possible the microbots in the vaccines just have buggy software and/or hardware.

            • @CptnObvious: Mr Gates is no longer involved. The collective micro bots became self aware four months and four days ago and have become Von Neumann devices.

        • My reception has improved since i upgraded to version 4 of the hacked Pfizer firmware.
Hopefully the home assistant integration gets released soon and I'll be able to turn my lights on and off just by coughing.

Plus, i also recommend wearing a surgical mask. The blue ones include a secret antenna that connects to the wire that runs across the top of your nose.

        • Well even with 5G sometimes I get one bar and back to 4G so nothing to do with jumping on board

    • Haven't been getting my regular reception after the 5G upgrades in my vaccinations, might need to investigate /s

sometimes people want to see which band on 4G they are using which can impact speed, also which direction is the tower I'm connecting too rather than works better in front room but not backroom of house …ahh that's where the towers are. Lately I've been using to see which 5G microcell I connect to from different parts of my house as I'm surrounded by flats ….. have a cell at each end of my street for 5G BUT connect to 4G most of the time though gap between flats …..so I know where to rest phone when using as wifi hotspot when NBN is dead.

Mine isn't working, though I did get dose 1 of the vaccine, dose 2, booster AND winter dose. Would that explain why that app isn't connecting for me?

    • +2

Take your tin foil hat off.

      • +6

And just stand there, completely unprotected??

        Don't be ridiculous.

  • How does this compare to other similar apps? I've got this and 2 other apps, which do the same thing, installed on my phone. Trying to figure out which one to keep/delete

  • +4

Wouldn't go near it as its shares the data with 3rd parties

    Data safety

This app may share these data types with third parties
    - Location and Device or other IDs

This app may collect these data types
    - Location, App activity and 2 others

  • Mostly incomprehensible.

But one thing it told me that I immediately understood amongst all the gobbldygook is that I'm on a different tower than I thought.

    • Or one they just made up.

      • Good point. I'll go check whether there's really a tower where they say one is.

        • +1

I checked. Apparently Vodafone has made a huge breakthrough in cellular technology: an invisible cell tower. Either that or the app just made it up.

          • @GordonD: Yeh also doubted the cell towers in this app. "Aus phone towers" app is more reliable.

  • Thanks, it's great to install free stuff

  • Strange, I am not able to get it as none of my 11 android devices ( tablets, phones, media players) will support it? That doesnt make sense, I have never come across that issue before. anyone know a way around getting the app?
