STACYC Electric Balance Bikes are a safe, rider-friendly gateway to the world of two wheels. The 12eDrive Balance Bike is the perfect choice for the newest of new riders who are (literally) just getting their balance. In comparison, the Brushless 16eDrive Balance Bike is the ideal choice for taller beginner riders who are just getting their balance or young riders with some balance or pedal bike experience. The electric drivetrain lets new "rippers" focus on balance, brake and throttle without the distractions of noise, vibration, heat and weight of petrol-powered conventional minibikes. The 16eDrive has a ready-to-ride weight of just 20 pounds, and the 12eDrive has just 17.

Motorbikes for toddlers. Responsible parenting there.

    • My boy has been riding a similar electric balance bike (a Sherco EB12) since just after he turned 2. They’re awesome bikes for learning on and you can limit the speed so they don’t go too fast and just stick to flat ground while they’re learning to control the brakes.

When they’ve mastered the manual balance bike these are a great next step. As soon as my boy was tall enough to get on a pedal bike he could ride it instantly because his balancing skills are incredible.

He’s 3.5 now and totally tears it up on the balance bike at full speed. We’ve just upgraded him to a 16 inch model

    How much is 20 pounds?

    • +1

20lbs would equate to a little over 9kgs.

Don't forget to add a kid's cap (for $39) to your purchase to keep them safe.

I thought all ebikes in Australia needed to have some pedal input to be legal.
What could go wrong at 21.6kph for kids.

    • It would probably be classified as a personal mobility device. I.e. illegal in Vic, nsw and other states

    • I believe that's escooters, though I'm still looking in to it tbh. Terminology like that, while bullshit, is what's kept so many things legal, and illegal, in this state. I have an ebike, that is basically a moped / Vespa looking thing, with pedals, and it's supposedly still fine at the moment. Where a scooter, with no pedals at all, is completely not.

That being said, in the case of bikes, I know in Victoria a child under the age of 12 can ride on the footpath, where anyone older cannot, there is potentially several other provisions in the law for cases such as this, wherein a child is exempt from things that would otherwise make an adult ineligible.

      • the australian road rules require the pedals to be the primary form of propulsion. throttle e-bikes, those that can be used without pedaling, are no longer legal in australia

I think the balance bike I bought my kids cost about $20. They learned to ride before they were even two. Electric isn't gonna help anything.

  • These are a great inbetweener if you're kid is too young or small to get on a Peewee 50. They can smash around on this then get onto the 50 when tall and confident enough and can ride without having to go through the PW50 training wheel stage.

Many kids at our dirt bike club start on these when young which makes them a much safer and confident rider when getting on a motorised bike.

Meh, a bit expensive… Sherco make a line of these bikes as well for almost 1/2 this price when they are not on special…
