        Yep every FTA channel has an Apple TV app with a live stream. In fact, I don’t even have the antenna connected to my TV so anytime I want to watch it I use the Apps.

      Apple have $70 gift cards promo every year during Black Friday. I guess this promo is because they are indeed coming up with a newer cheaper ATV later this year as multiple forums and sources seem to confirm.

      I was about to pull the trigger last night but wanted to buy along with a new tv on Black Friday. Why not wait and see what Apple has to announce in Sept?

      Don't you love the random unexplained negs.

      It probably makes sense if you're already in the ecosystem and used to overpaying. That said, my partner is in an Apple household and use a nvidia shield and CCwGT and are really happy with it. Had to use an long unused apple tv once and signing into netflix was a bit of an ordeal.

        I have Sonos which I use airplay for then just cast using chrome cast for Netflix and YouTube etc. 🤔 still trying to figure out the benefit.

          For people that wants to do local playback of high bitrate 4K files - the options are probably only Shield and ATV (though not as good Shield I believe). Or go full blown Tiny PC. Probably doesn't apply if you only stream.

          Though would be happy to pay $50-75ish for Shield Pro capability if there is such a product.

      Apple Music. Frame rate matching for streaming apps. Powerful CPU and GPU for games. AirPlay. HomeKit Hub.

      Also certain things that both devices offer but the Apple TV integrates with other Apple devices such as cross-service watch list tracking and aggregation through the TV app.

      Also the iTunes movie store is vastly superior to Google Play Movies for those who like that kind of thing.

      Lots of reasons.

        I do wonder how often do people use things you have just mentioned. Fair point though, maybe I’m just a tight ass don’t want to be spending $200+ for something I can do using my phone and chrome cast 🥹

      Did you add the gift card to the order?
      If you buy the ATV, you will automatically get an email with the $70 gift card after purchase.

      The order does have both items (Apple TV and Gift card)

      But I still haven’t got the giftcard after ordering 1 day, the order status page said processing (but delivery time stated normally within 1 hour)…
