  • How is this game compare to Mario:Odessey?

SM3D sucked imho. The world was just this strangled boring 2.5D mess. It was technically 3D but the level design doesn't entirely feel that way when you play it.. It's hard to explain but you're playing a linear level not exploring a world. The third dimension also meant easy dodging and not-quite-right depth perception (depth perception only mattered 1% of the time when getting a bad stamp/star).

Bowsers fury was way more fun, it actually felt like you were exploring. Much closer to odyssey… But about 10 hours to get 100%.

The beauty is the resell value is close enough that bowsers fury is worth it.

I actually didn't like Bowser's fury. I'm was trying to get 100% but constantly keep getting interrupted by the Bowser fights.
Unless there's a way around this?

You stay as Mario (not the super cat) and just hide behind a couple things until he's gone or you can try get a cat collectible thing and he'll disappear until next time. Quite often you need him to use bowser breath anyway, to break the grey blocks that can only be broken that way.

Sometime it feels a bit often but generally you can do most obstacles fast enough that you only get interrupted once. You can even take the blows if you've got a few powerups as they get you back to full health

Yeah, I couldn't play past the first 30 minutes of Bowser's fury. The interruptions just weren't a fun game mechanic.

      • I actually loved sm3d (each to their own!) - honesty I thought some of the level design was bordering on perfection. and that music track!

Kids have had an abundance of fun with it this year. It's 4 player, whereas odyssey is just Mario + Cappy. While odyssey is definitely the better single player experience, it's hard to fault SM3DW for kids.

I found the game fairly enjoyable. Just don't go into it thinking it'll be like Odyssey. This is a remake after all + bonus Bowser.

  • I enjoy playing the game with my kids and they also play alot with their friends. Ages 8-12. Second only to Mario kart for time played in our house

  • hope my 2 is going to arrive today
