Just an indication of how low prices are going

Cheapest petrol price in Sydneys east on Saturday is 157.9 at Metro Bexley

What is the chopper? Anyone explain me how to do it?

    • +4

Where people teleport from other states to lock in a specific price using the 7-eleven app :)

    • need a rooted android so you can spoof the gps and fuel lock anywhere in the country. search forums you'll find howto

  • -7

Yes. I understand that but please explain how?

    • Nice try 7-Eleven.

    • +5

bro, u can't even reply to your own thread. Flying a chopper for you would be like teaching a dog to play the piano.

    Doesn't E10 wreck your car?

    • +6

Full of sugar which gives you diabetes as well.

    • Yea, best to go for 91 instead. 91 should give you 5-10% more mileage too, so take that into consideration when comparing prices

    • $1.319 if you prefer U91

    • +1

The problem is it contains alcohol which means you may have trouble when police do the breath checking.

      • lol laughed

    • nah just the ozone

    • no it doesn't. it's fantastic. you get premium fuel on a budget. they take the highest grade petrol and add 10% ethanol (made from corn). there is absolutely nothing wrong with e10, and its actually better for the environment because you are using a plant based fuel. fyi, all grades of petrol in usa has 10% ethanol (corn). there Ferrari's and rolls royces have no issues, neither will you.

if your petrol says premium recommended, you can use whatever you want. if it says premium required, then you have to use only premium most of the time. usually what you will see is that you can run lower grades as long as you don't get any engine knocks when you turn off the car. the lower octane fuel won't give you the same performance (hp and torque), but if you aren't racing all day every day, you are absolutely fine using lower octane petrol. e10 is ball'in on a budget, great fuel to get anytime.

i have switched to e10 like 5 years ago pumping it every week, and i have zero issues.

      • That’s purely because you’re pumping it every week. E10 has cases where you should never use it. A mower is one example, as most people sit it for ages between mows. That will rust your tank as the ethanol likes to absorb water.

        • Anything sitting for ages isn’t good, not just e10. Lol

E10 also oxygenates the fuel, which reduces air pollution.

  • Anyone know if there's a line up? I happen to be close by today

Can anyone shed light as to why a servo would offer prices this cheap?

Hope people buy other stuff in store?
Pre purchased a tanker full but their tanks are still full?
    Just being good guys?

    • -6

I've heard some servos put water in their petrol, thats why they can offer cheap prices.

      • -4

true. a former colleague in the O&G division of the same company where i worked regualrly sampled and tested the petrol collected from different service stations. long story short, he strongly suggested I should always use the petrol from those big names.

        • -2

And yet i got down voted for my comment 😔

          • +2

@Homr: Because its a rubbish comment.

Logically it doesnt make any sense,Its very easy to check if there is water in the petrol.

The risk vs reward is so uneven.

Also i tend not to believe things like a friend of mine did X.

          • @Homr: Got any source to back your claim?

          • @Homr: i just happened to check back this comment and saw i got negged by 4 morons and you by 6.

            lmao!

            whatever!

      • Your sources are numbskulls. Petrol and water don't mix. This is literally a phrase you should have heard. It would cost the servo 100's or 1000's to get a tradie to pump out it all out as the cars would be filled with 100% water and the fuel would be floating on top.

      • +1

        no they dont

        https://www.couriermail.com.au/news/mass-breakdown-in-sydney…

this is what will happen if they do

  • +1

They just do it to get people through the door. They don't make money off of petrol more from the stuff they sell in store.

    • This doesn't really make sense.

They are selling at a good 40cpl cheaper than the next cheapest. Unless they are loss leading I wouldn't call that making no money (compared to if they were to sell it at the same price as others)

40cpl for a 50L tank is $20 worth. Surely the average customer isn't spending $20 in store, wouldn't come close to recouping that amount.

Also, why so cheap? I would imagine even at 149.9 they'd have queues to sell all they can pump?

      • Could be contract terms, could be prepping for a sale (volume numbers for the month go up up up), could be due for tank maintenance. Could be shutting doors.

  • +2

Powerfuel Granville - price is correct, but Long queues and some idiots skipping the queue as well, horns all round
Looks like the prices would be increased soon..

    • +1. Just been there. The audacity to skip the queue and squeeze in while people are waiting in the queue is just ridiculous.

    • +1

It's indeed sad to see such behaviour from drivers :(

      • -1

its granville tho at least they arent shooting each other this way

      • +1

People tend to lose their humanity when they get into a car. I find that very often in Sydney.

      • -2

it's granville what do u expect? the guys would carry machine guns on back of their pickups , taliban style you know

  • -1

Does officeworks price match this ?

    • Yes, both officeworks and Bunnings can beat the price as long as you can find fuel for sell in store or online ^_^

  • Hey what app can I use to do this but with VIC fuel prices?

    • Petrol spy

  • +1

Just came back from speedway @6:40. Prices are still same.
There is traffic on Mona st, but it wasn’t too bad. I was in the area luckily. The queue experience was not bad at all. Thanks heaps Op!

    • You are so welcomed :)

  • Are the working instructions anywhere to how to order the 7/11 chopper?

  • There's not much traffic and definitely no queue 2 hours back. The Woolworths Caltex just up the road was offering U98 even cheaper, think it was like 178.

    Speedway has it for 179.

    • Not sure when you went but there's heaps of traffic

  • Great find OP. Not too bad of a wait at speedway but there's people coming in from all directions. Only waited about 10 minutes

    • I'm happy that it was easy on you, and you managed to get everything done in 10 min :)

  • Only 18 minutes from my place

    • If you need to fill the whole tank, then it will indeed be so worth it :)
