371

Was $900.
Surcharges: 1.5% Card, 2% PayPal.

Bunnings can beat it on 10% https://www.bunnings.com.au/mitsubishi-avanti-2-5kw-reverse-…, so it comes to $729. And Mitsubishi is doing cash back at the moment. https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/703172

https://wholesaleaircon.com.au/shop-affordable-air-con-units… is $735, not sure Bunnings has this model.

Or you can try to find more models from there.

Mitsubishi is a good brand in air con, search the product review and you will find it.

@Richocho: Thanks for the heads up. Seems like the Armadale store (furthest away from me) sells a number of things that my local doesn't. The Robinhood ironing system comes to mind too.

I'll check it out, weighing up between this deal and possibly a Fujitsu after having owned one for a number of years.

I was looking at 2.5/3.2 avanti plus but doesn't look like bunnings stock them it's surely a better choice over avanti series https://wholesaleaircon.com.au/shop-affordable-air-con-units…

    • +1

The plus is higher rated for efficiency and was rated top by Choice.

I bought one a month ago.

However depends on how often you use it, given 10% price beat by Bunnings. The plus isn’t stocked by Bunnings

      • Are you happy with the Plus one? Could you compare it with others if you have them by any chance? With the bad reviews about MHI in OzBargain lately I’m not sure if I should go with them.

        • +1

See my review above on the Avanti Plus.

  • The website also has Mitsubishi Electric MSZAP25VGD-A1 at a discounted price. Is this website trusted, never seen it before.

    • Thats electric not heavy industries, two seperate companies. Confusing yes, but it is what it is.

Go the Avanti Plus instead of Avanti, heaps more energy efficient

  • +6

Refrigeration mechanic here - Mitsubishi Electric is far better quality than MHI.

    • Could you please explain how ME is better? Is that across the board or just for some particular models? I think the MHI Avanti Plus is the top rated in Choice right now.

      • +1

General observation on build quality and feel of the unit. Across the board not any particular unit.

I’m not up with the ratings in Choice. I would think the reasoning is because there are more MHI installed

MHI still has its place and definitely still a good option compared to others.

    • You say your qualification like it should sway people towards Mitsubishi Electric. Have you got Mitsubishi Electric splits yourself? Have you installed other units like Daikin Coras/Aliras, MHI Avanti Plus? Have you been called back often for warranty repairs with ME or your other units? MHI Avanti plus 2.0 kw is cheaper and far more efficient (7 star rating) than any ME in the same category. Only problem for me is one of my three units has a clicking sound when idle once heating temperature is reached which could be due to a faulty unit or the installation..

I say my qualification because I install and work on air conditioning systems for a living?
I have worked on many different brands Daikin, Panasonic, Fujitsu, MHI, ME, Actron and many other lower tier brands.

I have a Fujitsu ducted myself but it was installed in my property when I bought it. I haven’t needed to replace yet, when I do it will be a ME.

I think you’ve just given us a prime example of issues you might experience with MHI.

Next time you’re in a government building that has splits installed take notice of the brands they are using, you’ll mostly find Daikin or Mitsubishi Electric These building have a budget for whatever brand system they like.

        • Hmm deal with a fair few fridgies through work & first time I'm hearing ME in front on MHI but maybe the tides changing build quality wise..?

      • Have you got the installer or MHI to check out the clicking sound?

    • I too have heard that recently that ME is better than MHI (a few years ago it was the other way around).

For ducted can you rank the brand in order that you feel are the best.

      And again for splits.

Very curious. Disclaimer: I have Daikin for ducted and in the past have had Panasonic & Fujitsu for splits.

      • Not sure about ducted but for splits, I'd say 1-2 Daikin-MHI, then the rest.

Definitely MHI for value for money and as SC11 mentioned Daikin is installed in many organisation buildings and hospitals.

Take note a lot of tradies install ME and preach their gospel, I don't know if they get extra money from ME but I'd say a lot are biased to ME for one reason or another. Do your own research and compare the energy usage, db etc.

I'd say worry about insulation and gap sealing first though and invest in those. You don't need a big unit for a well insulated house.

If I could do it again I would do the ceiling insulation and tear down the plaster and put wall insulations prior to plastering and repainting. Then decide if I need any splits at all. This is for a single storey house with low ceiling built 1999

In my opinion ME has always been better. MHI has always been the budget option comparing the two

        My rankings:

        1- ME
        1- Daikin

        2- Panasonic
        2- Fujitsu
        2- MHI

I don’t have a lot of experience installing cheaper units, but I am hearing good things about Gree units.

Most importantly always use qualified refrigeration mechanic to do the install. There are corners that can be cut and will cause issues in future. Regular maintenance on your unit will also ensure is it operating efficiently.

  • Not a deal. This is the standard price for this unit. Not sure if cash back promotion applies to this unit.

  • This business is not good (from past experience)

They will make you pay more for shipping later on.

I got one of their reverse cycles for a bargain price, from their website and paid the advertised fees,
guess what the sales people did ?
Billed me an invoice for $5000 + (removing discount on the AC, and additional cost on Shipping)

The people didn't even offer to give any discount for their mistake. I do agree the advertised price was heck too low, But at very least they should have offered some sort of discount like $500 or something, THE AC was a very costly one which I bought at the bargain advertised price

  • Buy 10 and ship it to England for profits

  • Bunnings VIC won't price match with the delivery fee.

    • Try a few different stores, took me 3 to get a similar deal matched last year. Best time IMO is about 45 mins before close on the weekend.

  • Had to wait for 40 minutes but my local Bunnings (VIC) price matched then beat it. Apparently there's a Melbourne warehouse , that combined with the Sydney free pickup seemed to be the managers deciding factor. Good luck.

    • Thanks for the info, which bunnings was that?

  • There is a 2.0kwh model air con which is $735 but only on special orders at Bunnings. Has anyone had experiences in Bunnings price beating special orders item?

  • plus $100 cashback apparently

  • Hey OP,

I was looking at AC's this week, specifically the MHIAA's, I saw your post and I managed to get two!

    Thank you so much!

    Regards

  • a really stupid question, but what is the box that sits on the outside of the house called?

I currently have have a splt system set up in my house, one unit in each room. One broke, but the others are working fine. If i were to replace that broken one one with a different brand, would i need to also change the outside box? and will that affect the others that are still working fine?

    • Do you only have one outdoor unit? If so you'd just need to get the indoor unit fixed/replaced and it would need to be the same brand.

  • I have 3 of these units. Works well and power efficient. Lacks a "powerful" button versus our 8kw MHI

  • Anyone found stock in Bunnings Sydney?
