100

Hi everyone! Another deal from Sydney Aquascapes :) feel free to ask any questions below.

These are small red, gold and brown snails, great for any freshwater aquarium. Posted to anywhere in Australia.
They are quite hardy, and although prefer an temperature range of 18-28 C can survive lower temperatures over winter.

Ram Horns can grow to over 2cm in size, but usually slow down their growth significantly at about 1cm in diameter.

FAQ:
People often inquire about snails exploding in population when introduced to a tank, but there is a bit of a misconception with this: Snails will propagate until they reach an equilibrium with the food available for them in the tank. If you add snails and their population explodes, it means there is tones of food (usually left over fish food) for them to eat, and they are eating it. In other words: Doing their job. Once the food is gone, their population will reduce to enough snails that can survive on how much food is left after your fish are done with it. If they still keep up a massive population, that usually means you are feeding your fish too much.

Postage:
Snails are very resilient to postage issues, so much so we can send them in letters and 99% of the time there is no issue. We do replace or refund fully if there are any issues with your order as well anyway.

Wow, that's a lot cheaper than the French restaurant we went to last Saturday…

    • You can also take the shells off and let them slug it out. I won't judge.

  • It'll be awesome if you guys stocked Dusky Nerites.

    • I prefer ramshorns.

We don't unfortunately. If you have a suggestion of where to get an initial population we can try breeding them though.

You are going to keep them as sex slaves ???

We prefer to call them Indentured Snaivants in an ancient and historical industry.

      • If you want to give breeding a go, I think you can get them from here though I have never bought from them. I wouldn't count on being successful though because the requirement for brackish water would be very difficult to pull off.

  • Do they eat same as pleco? Or different stuff? Ie not in competition

    • They will eat the same and other things too. Competition shouldn't really be a problem: you should be feeding your plecos separately and they are faster so would get to the food before the snails anyway.

  • Purchased 12 several months back, six are~ 0.6cm the other six are as small as sesame, I nearly can't find them.

    • Hey Mcha, 0.6cm is normal, our batches atm are a little small but you shouldn't be getting any smaller than that from us, and they should have been growing quick as well. If its an issue I'd be happy to send you a replacement if you like?

      • Yes, please, those 6 sesame size snails can't be found as soon as they are in the tank. Please let me have the replacement invoice dated 25/1/22

        • If you could send me an email that would be easiest to do there.

          Thanks.

      • What's your email and name please

  • Will these be safe from my 7cm goldfish?

    • Probably not unfortunately.

  • Wow, didn't know u can post snails!

    • +2

Yup, as another user mentioned: its the legendary snail mail.

  • Have you got any NQ shrimp? Hunting for something that eats BBA and does not eat the rest of my shrimp population

    • No sorry just ghosts.

  • Hi will these be ok to keep with an Axolotl?

    • They might unfortunately.

  • i have just plants anubias in my tank since the fish died 2 years ago (heater died in winter) …..if i add snails do i need feed then fish food or they just eat algae, or both ?

    • Both. You don't need to feed them unless you get a lot and have nothing else in the tank.

  • What a good idea to keep an aquarium clean. Had no idea that snails were an option.
