    This or instant pot ?

    • I have this one and we love it at home, but when doing quick searched online most of the recipes and instructions are for the instant pot, although they are easily "adapted" to this one, so there is a very slight learning curve. apart from that, not sure which one would be better, maybe when buying replacement parts the instant pot will be cheaper?

This one has a Ceramic Coated pot, If you're looking for a Stainless Steel pot - go for the Instant Pot.

      • And if you need ceramic coated pot for instant pot, they are decently priced on Amazon and even cheaper when on sale.

Can't adjust temp/manual cooking mode and no auto pressure release on this, I'd get the instant pot for that alone.

Was not a fan of the instant pot. It kept stopping the pressure cook on slightly thicker contents saying the bottom was burning. It wasn't.

The only issue I've found with the Philips models is the rubber seal stops sealing very quickly. It seems to loosen way too easily then the pressure cooking function becomes useless. Support have happily sent replacement seals and you can buy 3rd party replacements too, but it's just a super annoying flaw. Otherwise it's really great.

      • At this price + a 3rd party seal, I mean, whatever!

    • I had the one from Costco which i ended up returning and purchased the instant pot instead.

Main gripe was that the temperature with philips on sauté mode didn’t get high enough or wasn’t controllable. The instant pot has 3 temp settings for all modes and 2 pressure settings.

Going great for over 2 years now

Edit: The instant pot was much cheaper as well

  • Does this steam vegetables?

Brought one recently. Highly recommend this as a rice cooker, even though the manual doesnt really cover it well. Just add unwashed rice and about 25% more water than rice (e.g., 2 cups of rice plus 2.5 cups of water), then select 5 minutes on the "steam" pressure cooker function (rather than the rice cook function that doesn't allow you to change the cooking time). Overall about 10-15 min if you include pressurisation/preheat. Works for both short and long grain. If you want less sticky rice, rinse off some of the excess starch a few times before cooking. Enjoy :)

Uh…You're meant to rinse the rice until the water is relatively clear…If you want sticky rice, get glutinous rice, but still, you should be rinsing your rice. Also, you just need water that goes above the rice by one section of your finger (the first line when you dip your finger and the tip is touching the top of the rice).

  • $249 at costco

  • if you don't mind less than perfect condition, Amazon has this item as "Used - Very Good" condition for $224.22.

    • won't get the cashback with used

  • $242.1 on ebay with code PLRANGE3 (Plus member only)

  • I think this may be a better deal. The Instant Pot Duo Crisp (Which has Built In Air-Fryer) is on special at Myer for $299.00 https://www.myer.com.au/search?query=Instant+Pot+Duo+Crisp

Go buy 3 Myer gift cards at Coles tomorrow as they will be 15% off so you can get the Instapot for $245.00

    • one day only offer so myer sales price should end tonight?

  • That's strange that must have just been added I copied that URL on Saturday, and then it said it was valid till the 30th when the sale ended,

  • I bought one of this recently. Personally I wouldn't recommend it. It's heavy and difficult to use.

  • Switched from this to Instant Pot mainly because of a smaller size (3L) being more useful for daily use, and the ease of cleaning.

  • Bought this full price a few months ago, bloody love it.

Anywhere to get an extra/spare pot for them? Not stainless but the same as it comes with.
