Yeah… but the problem is finding an A3 laser printer in that price range :( I got the WF7845 and it serves me well, but yes, ink are expensive.
I got the Brother MFC-J6530DW for $249 in 2021 (for printing a3 posters). yes its an inkjet but there are no cost-comparable alternatives that are laser.
When I need A4, i use my lasers, when I need A3 I use the above. You can buy 3rd party inks (I have) its a lot cheaper.
Fully agree, so happy to be rid of my Brother inkjet where the ink literally dries out with almost no use. Hard pass for me
I wonder how much is the running cost?
Will never buy an inkjet again, it's a massive trap.
Bought a Brother laser a few years back (MFC_L2700DW) and it has been brilliant. Cheap toner refills on ebay too. Can't lose, no brainer.
do you have amazon link to it?
I'm guessing that below is the newer version of my model but I'm not sure. It's not part of the sales though…
Seems to be $258 at Officeworks
To me this is a great priceInk for inkjets are such a massive waste, even a $500 Toner is worth it,
they're superior for pictures
What are? Inkjets? Not sure, can't comment but I can tell you that you shouldn't be printing pictures on your inkjet… waaay too costly.
i don't have one, but inkjet pictures tend to have higher contrast and sharper image quality, whereas my experience of colour lasers is that they look a bit dull and the image isn't as sharp.
you may as well use the ink, rather than lose it, because the inkjet printer needs to periodically clean the nozzles by sending ink through, otherwise they will get dried ink in them and you'd need to clean them yourself (not sure if you can) or get them replaced, it's why the inkjets always seem to run out of ink, only good for people who print regularly.
this was $217 this morning!
I've used one of these for years now, excellent machine and doesn't seem to chew through ink whilst in standby.
Generic ink can be $20 for a 4pk on eBay, and includes the 'chip' (only a basic sensor, really) on each cartridge.
whoever posting inkjet is not a good ozb….
get laser peopleIf you have an equivalent colour laser in mind, I'd love to see how it compares. I couldn't justify double the price for the occasional colour page.
This works great in conjunction with my Brother B&W laser though which does most of my print jobs
I too have Fuji Xerox B&W laser printer for document printing :)
just threw away my Canon Multifunction with faulty print head last week :(not sure how Brother inkjet hold up?
seem like the 1 star reviews outline all the worst nightmare - one error pop up and whole printer became useless
also Product Review doesn't seem to have any good reviews on this model…

Problem with Inkjets is that they like to dry out if you’re not using them daily. Not to mention the mess with spilling ink. I switched to Laser and won’t ever go back.
Are Laser printers safe? I recall someone saying to me a while ago here that the ink can have a carcinogenic effect if you're in the room the printer is all the time, or not sure if he meant if was the ink itself if you're trying to refill it.
It's not ink, it's toner.
Laser printers generate ozone, maybe you're getting it confused with that. Might be an air quality issue in a very small room with the printer going crazy.
Sure, you want to be careful with the toner, clean spills immediately, etc. but it's not going to kill you. It doesn't get spewed out into the air by the printer.Hi, I found the comment from an old deal I replied to.

Not sure how true that is. I wanted to get a laser printer, but not sure about having it near me in the same room.
@Ice009: From 11 years ago: Brief Review on Health Effects of Laser Printer Emissions Measured as Particles
For this brief review no epidemiology studies directly associating laser printer emissions with adverse health outcomes were located.
Under the current reasonably controlled work environmental conditions, lung fibrotic changes caused by inhaled dust exposure, including powdered toner, appear to be relatively uncommon; however, non-specific temporal irritation causing subjective symptoms and inflammatory responses might exist.
Having been in the IT industry since before laser printers were common, I'm not worried.
@McFly: Hi McFly, thanks. I will have a read of that on one of my day's off. I still want to get a laser printer, just not sure which one.
I have one of these I got a week ago from Amazon, still in the box…. 😭
