  • This or the Yoga 7 14 inch Ryzen 6800U with integrated graphics 680M for $1700?

    • This will be more powerful / less battery life.

    • +1

6800u is 15w TDP, binned for power efficiency.

      6800HS is 35w TDP

The 3050 dGPU will also consume power when idle vs the power gated 680m iGPU.

      • "The 3050 dGPU will also consume power when idle." Good to know mate, I'm just after a light gaming/work laptop for the occasional COD/battlefield games so looks like the Ryzen 6800U is better for me (I will be plugged in while gaming).

      • which one will be more noisy ?

    • -1

No USB4 in this one it seems, also slower memory and no OLED screen.

If you are keen on the 16" form factor I'd probably suggest also looking at the Inspiron 16 Plus deal for $1780~because the specs are killer. Wish I could find a hands on review for that one.

      • +4

Thanks but not interested in hot and inefficient Intel 12th gen sorry. I'm after 13-14 inch screen size as wanting <1.4kg laptop for portability as I work FIFO.

AMD Ryzen 6800U looks good to me.

      • Is there a reason why this and the slim pro x 14' do not have USB4 but the Yoga 7 14 inch Ryzen 6800U does?

I have read because lenovo is offering intel variants in the same series and therefore wont offer USB4 to the AMD ones

        • Wish I knew! Don't know if it's hardware or bios related? There's talks of some other laptops eg. Asus Flow X13 being potentially bios updated to enable USB4, even though they're not currently marketed with it. Also you'd definitely want to ensure any USB4 is 40Gbps not just 20 to get the most out of it.

I find it hard because I want a slim laptop which means going AMD for heat, but I also want USB4 and it's very scarce currently?

Perhaps ask chat and see how you go?

          • @tellhimhesdreaming: I am the same as yourself. If it definitely has USB4, id be pulling the trigger without really thinking. The 5800u is still quite cool and quiet with the yoga slim carbon, but the 6000 are even better with the cooling and igpu

  • For those not needing a touch screen, the very similar Ideapad Pro 16 (Ryzen 7/RTX 3050) is $1600 on the edu store:
