I have one and can confirm it's awesome

    • +1

      Me too.

  • This one comes without the memory cards.. Great price though and pretty easy to add own roms etc

    • +2

You shouldn’t use the crap sd cards, firmware or ROMs included anyway.

      • +2

I wish it came with all the roms and games already installed.

I used to love playing around with roms, software, jailbreaking etc. But now I'm old I'm really lazy to do all that.

        • The beauty of these is all the messing about is basically unnecessary, just stick roms in the folder and go

          • @ZuluOz: So you don't need to download all the different emulators? This one doesn't come with an sd card though?

Also downloading all the roms and checking they work can be a hassle lol.

            • +3

@Circly: It comes with the emulators, there are tested Rompacks.

Check out https://youtu.be/jeOTzRMy658 for a starter guide

              • @ZuluOz: Thank you.

OK so I've bought this haha.

Any recommended rom sites? Or is thst illegal talk on here?

                • +1

@Circly: Wise Decision! I hope you like it, check out r/roms on Reddit for more info.

        • this time is very easy.

        • +5

Even if it does come with roms on an SD card, you shouldn’t use.

          1. They’re always cheap cards that eventually fail and you’ll loose your games and saves.

          2. The roms are bad dumps, organised poorly and a mix of languages.

3, The stock firmware is garbage. Expect performance issues.

Spend half and hour learning how to have a good setup. The Reddit for these is full of people complaining about issues they could have prevent by switching cards from the beginning.

This is all you need. https://retrogamecorps.com/2021/03/28/rg351v-starter-guide/

          • @PainToad: "The roms are bad dumps, organised poorly and a mix of languages."

This is interesting because retropie images (obv for the pi, not these 351s) are often extremely polished - full cover art, descriptions, categorised etc.

            • @Certified Angus:

The SD Card included in these devices are thrown together by people in who don't give a shit besides making a quick sale.

    Be wary of hekka.

I ordered the USB Zigbee hub from hekka. After about 6 weeks I get an email from them saying they had logistics issues and offered to try again or refund. Twice I replied asking for a retry, I didn't receive a reply. I followed up again asking for a refund. Others complaining on the original deal that they didn't receive theirs.

My bank processed a charge back in ~24hrs. Still no reply from hekka.

  • +9

    I don't need this
    I really don't need this

  • How long does shipping take?

  • +2

I have to praise Hekka on this one. I ordered from the previous deal and I receive a unit with a faulty screen (purple line). They sent out a new unit after a couple of emails and didnt ask for the faulty one back

    • +2

Try opening the faulty one up and reconnecting the screen ribbon cable. Nothing to loose.

      • +5

Nothing to lose* or need to ensure nothing too loose?

    • I also have vertical purple/black lines flickering which is upsetting. I have emailed Hekka but haven't heard back yet. It seems to appear after a full charge/cold start and stays there for quite some time, eventually it goes away but it's annoying.

  • -1

    don't you guys have phones

    • +1

      Nope sorry.

    • +3

Digital dpad and buttons on phone with emulator apk just isn't the same feel.

      • i agree. thats why you connect a controller and play gamecube on the go

        • +1

Some people don’t like input lag from Bluetooth and the Android OS.

          • @PainToad: Can't you just plug it in?

            • +2

@belongsinforums: Depends on the controller. But you still have the input lag from Android. Also, the experience is a lot less pick up and play.

    • +1

If I did I would be playing Diablo immortal

      • +2

        *paying

  • Worth to have if i already have hacked 3ds?

    • +3

      Yes.

      Very different experience.

    • +1

Yes. 3DS doesn’t play retro games as well due to it not being 4:3 ratio, and doesn’t emulate PS1 as well as these RK3326 devices. As long as you’re running AmberElec or ArkOS etc, not the stock firmware which I would never leave on any Anbernic device.

I think the RG351MP and Retroid Pocket 2+ are the best handhelds in the $100-$200 with 3.5” screens. The horizontal form factor is more comfortable, but this device has the nostalgic vertical Gameboy form factor if you’re more into that.

  • Get a vita

    • any vita? specific firmware or all can be hacked?

    • I have a Vita running CFW, for the prive an Anbernic is a better option.

    • I jail broke my vita, played 5mins if Chrono Trigger and didn't try again lol.

I couldnt be bothered having to rest the device each time and log into adrenaline (or something else I forget the name of) via browser each time.

I think that's no longer required now though.

  • +1

I had this one for a couple months and can confirm it's an awesome little console. This is an amazing price! I did end up selling it and buying the 351p because i like the shape of that console more. Pretty much the same system though. Definitely one of my fav purchases in a long time and friends are amazed when i show them.

Hit my 28Degrees with PayPal @ AUD$88.95 - with 4% CashRewards at Hekka on top.

Basically got it for AUD$85.39, good Bargain!

  • Dang dats cheap. Loving my 351mp

  • Does this code only apply to the 351V?

    • Correct. Happy to take requests.

      • +1

Surprised no one is talking about the RG503, comes to around $120 with this coupon. 4.95” OLED screen and slightly better chipset

        • @Clear I second this suggestion!

          • @WARvault: Looks like they jacked it up to $220 shortly after I commented…I thought the price was a bit low lol

            • @zaprct: Yeah same with the RG351p. Saved me from myself, really.

      • I could maybe be tempted by the RG351p for a similar discount. I really don't need it, but for a good price that 3:2 aspect ratio for GBA sounds amazing. I already have the V. Great machine.

    thanks OP - ordered

    This or Miyoo Mini?

    • +1

      Ooooh that's a tough one.

I think it really depends on what you're going to use it for.

I own a fully jailbroken Vita and I bought a R280V and I found I pulled out the R280v more often, it was easier to carry around then something the size of the Vita and the experience scratched the itch for anything up to PSX.

YMMV but I'd probably go with the Miyoo for around the same pricepoint.

    • Different specs. Miyoo Mini (which I love) maxes out at PS1.

  • Thanks op, been wanting something like this

  • Check Miyoo Mini. Better portability. Similar price. Huge fanbase.

    • is that miyoo too small ?

  • Goddamnit bought one.

Now I just have to return the other one I just bought from the recent aliexpress sale.

  • Lol there's now locally sold handhelds? That's pretty neat. Hopefully this means the odins/retro pockets and their replacement parts will be sourced locally as well, my rp2+ was a first batch and had the sticky buttons problem.

Now if only the steam deck arrives to Australia.

    • Hekka ships from China/HK.

    • +3

      P:
      * GBA screen ratio.
      * No built in wifi.
      * No longer officially supported by ArkOS (there’s a fork and AmberELEC).
      * Lower resolution.

      V:
      * 4:3 aspect ratio.
      * built in wifi.
      * higher resolution.

I had the P. Returned it because it had JoyCon drift. Took the opportunity to upgrade to the V for built in wifi, so I could sync my saves between it and my Xbox Series X.

  • I’m jumping on this - does anyone have feedback on the wood grain finish? I leaning towards the translucent black but the wood grain one is just something different.

  • Been out of the loop for a bit but the Mrs recently got into some retro games on her laptop — how do DS games work on a single screen?

    • Very poorly. Performance is also terrible. Don't buy it for DS games.

      • Thoughts on the RP2+? Comes up to ~AUD170 shipped from Retroid directly

        • Worth it. Hard to decide between it and 351MP but overall the RP2+ is a better package. Includes wifi, better chipset and is on par in most respects

Loses points for right stick being a slider, cheaper build, more complex to setup and less retro friendly interface than Linux based systems.

        • It probably depends a lot on what systems you want to emulate.

  • How do you play games on this with no memory card? Doesn’t it need software etc to run?

    • +2

      You put one into it.

      • and the software/emulator? on the ROM/RAM already i assumed?

        • Runs off the SD card.

  • Mine has been shipped apparently

    • Mine too - do you know where I can find the tracking number for it? Both the shipped email and order don’t show tracking.

      • +1

If you use the live chat feature in the bottom right, they can send you the tracking ID

        • Thanks I’ll try that.

    • arrived yet?

      • I checked and apparently it arrived in "destination country" yesterday.

So it sounds it will be here soon?

But they are shipping via PFLogistics and they are pretty bad.

            • +1

@SamFred: How did you find that out?

Yeah this next part could take longer than shipping it out of China lol.

I'll update when it arrives. I don't imagine we would get a tracking number from PFLogistics?

              • @Circly: Last time I got a shipment handled by PFL. It was held up in Sydney for about 5 weeks before it got delivered to me. Hoping this time it is different!

                • @SamFred: Cleared customs today!

                  • @Circly: Mine must have been on the same flight as I have that update too 😆

                  • +1

                    @Circly: Mine too

                    • +1

                      @SamFred: Got mine today!

                      • @Circly: Wow. Congrats!
You must be in Sydney then?
Hopefully I get mine next week

                        • +1

@SamFred: Nope. In SA. Some others have got there's too.

Mine has an issue lol see bottom of the thread.

Won't get a chance to tinker until tomorrow.

                          • @Circly: Too bad.
Did you get any ready to use SD cards?

                            • @SamFred: Yeah two sd cards. The firmware one was 16gb (branded) and the one with the roms is 64gb.

But yeah haven't turned it on yet lol.

Overall, besides not turning on I'm impressed with the build quality. Feels sturdy.

  • +2

I was very tempted to buy one of these 3 weeks ago, after watching multiple reviews and spending a little extra coin, I ended up going with the Retroid Pocket 2+. I think there is about $50-$60 difference from this price. I’m still waiting for it to arrive, I’ve heard that a lot of these Chinese based companies are struggling to get orders out etc.

Anything higher than N64 I’ve heard this really struggles with. However this is arguable the best system for GB, GBA, Super Nintendo purely based on layout etc.

I’ve found recently that Rom Dumps have an absolute terrible download speed. So just keep that in mind, might help to do some downloading prior to RG351 arriving!

    • Retroid Pocket 2+ better than 351p ? 552 would be best but expensive I guess

  • +2

Mine arrived today, 11 days shipping from China is pretty impressive.

To my surprise it came with a Kioxia branded 16GB and a generic 64GB microsd cards.

    • anything inside the card ?

      • The 16GB has the stock EmuELEC, the 64GB is loaded with roms, a lot of Chinese bootleg ones as you'd expect.

  • Has anyone had theirs “attempted delivery” cause of no one being at home (even though I was home all day). No card or note was left or anything mentioning how to have it redelivered. I have no idea who to contact to organise to have it redelivered. Any suggestions?

  • Code is still active but price has gone back up now, I should have pulled the pin on this last night

    • If it makes you feel better, I ordered a week ago and it still hasn't been shipped. Comparing these comments from people who ordered on day 1 (seem to have been shipped the next day) and complaints from other posts (waited 6 weeks and had to do a chargeback) I am kinda thinking you might have dodged a bullet…
