  • I see these posted all the time. Anyone bought one. What are they like?

    • +32

Based on username I reckon they're right up your alley

      • But he'll look smicko sharp if doing Youtube unboxing clips? :)

    • it is basically just advertising spam now. It's had the opposite effect on me. It makes me think they are not great if they are constantly 'on sale'

    • I bought the Skinner Knife Damascus Steel Full Tang Rose Wood Handle Leather Case PN-DFBS2RW.

Excellent quality and happy overall. Knife doesn't come as sharp as I would like, but that can be easily fixed.

Knife doesn't come as sharp as I would like, but that can be easily fixed.

        By lowering your expectations?

        • yes

        • thats very blunt of you

    • +2

What do you need to do with it? Most people who buy ourdoor knives won't use it for anything more brutal than opening a bag of chips.

That said, whatever you need to do with it, a mora is probably a better bet.

    • If anyone need a folding knife just get civivi, yes their price is 2-3 times this rubbish knife but quality is heaven and earth.

    But will it keal?

Same sort of blade reviewed (in a very annoying manner)

    • as expected - not very good quality

  • +1

Absolute junk. Decent steel costs more than they are selling these for… Apparently made in Pakistan out of old jam jar lids…

    • Do you have any proof to support your view about our knives?

Our knives offer a nice combination of quality materials, asthetics and affordable prices. Read these comments here please.

      • +1

I make custom hand made knives so I reckon I might know a thing or 2. How about you start by telling us what steel(s) you are using exactly, and providing some evidence? Unfortunately with knives you get what you pay for, so if someone wants a knife to look at and not use these might be ok, but they aren't going to be good steel.

        • The materials used are mentioned on our website in the product descriptions. Thanks for letting us know that you are yourself in the knife making business so your motives of leaving negative comments without evidence are a bit more obvious now.

Every single day is a deal for these guys. SPAM

These are good deals offering great value for money. Genuine Damascus steel handmade knife for $39 including delivery is really a bargain. Thanks

We all know that the best outdoor adventures always involve a knife.

News to me… Maybe if your name is 'Ivan…'

No possible way this is "Damascus Steel Full Tang Blade" at this price

    • -6

      Its 100% genuine Damascus steel.

    • It'll be folded a few times with a pretty print job on top. Personally I find most of this "Damascus" fairly tacky.

    NO DEAL

thankfully those terms don't affect your consumer law rights. still pretty dodgy though. either they added that on purpose, which is pretty bad, or they copy+pasted T&Cs from a different website or a template, which is also pretty bad

      • They are absolutely T&Cs identical on a few websites including HouseOfKnives.
Not a terrible thing but it puts me right off these kind of 'bargains'

      • +2

We are a Brisbane based family owned small business. All the products we sell are covered by Australian consumer laws. We can happily do a full refund if a customer is not happy with that quality or workmanship of our knives.

        Thanks

This seller continues to use this site for cheap advertisement of mediocre products without offering actual bargains.

      • +2

If you're going to be a wanna-be lawyer, you might want to get "stand by" right.

        • -3

We will see how it goes. If the food you put on the table for family is at stake, specially in the current tough financial situation that many small businesses are facing, then you have to do what you have to do.

Expressing an opinion every now and then is understandable but relentlessly chasing a small business and voting negatively and passing negative comments repeatedly, on almost every deal, and without evidence or proof, definitely points towards defamatory motives and trolling behaviour.

  • That's not a knife…

      🥄

  • +5

From my experience as an amateur knife maker this will be absolute garbage. I can’t even buy the 1095 steel for this price, let alone make a knife.
A quick search on this seller, shows they are just trying to advertise. This is a regular price.

    • It is usual for many businesses to offer sales well below their cost price for various reasons.

What do you think what could be reasons why retailers posts deals here on Ozbargain?

      • +2

But this isn’t below your cost price, is it.

The steel you are using isn’t good knife steel, it’s simply too expensive for cheap knives like yours.

I honestly can’t understand why you keep posting this crap here when you get this response every time.

        • Because dumbarses will buy them, believing the spin.

        • As mentioned in the product description on our website that the Damascus steel used in these knives is forged using the combination of 1095 & 15n20 steel.

If you are looking at raw material costs in Australia then of course it will be much higher as compared to the prices in other countries and specially those countries which are geographically not that far from China from where 1095 and 15n20 steel is imported from. Our knives are handmade in Pakistan and we have our team on ground that ensures the quality of material and workmanship.

Our knives offer a decent combination of quality, asthetics and affordability. I hope you understand that you cannot bully a small business from posting deals on Ozbargain. We abide by Ozbargains terms and conditions.

          Thanks.

  • OP, if you want these deals to "work" for you, dont try to sell knives with gimmicks.

Damascus patterns and tang sizes arent of interest to most knife fans.

Offer things with known steel types; even if its a chinese clone like x50 or something.

Perhaps a 3rd party rockwell rating, or a carbon test?

Im a huge fan of knives as tools, and own many for various jobs, hiking, and such.

Sadly, these types of 'flashy' knives just dont tell anyone serious about steel and blades what its going to be.

    • Sadly, these types of 'flashy' knives just dont tell anyone serious about steel and blades what its going to be.

Yes, that is the entire point with crap like this

      • i dont own this knife, so I can't call it crap, ive done no testing.

I know their other knives have been very high quality, and have sharpened up amazingly.

This one looks more like a bulk import than their previous offerings is all, so nothing is telling me to buy, unless there's more info.

      • Sorry to say that you are just speculating about our knives without even actually having to try and test any of our knives. Our knives are handmade by skilled craftsment and our team on ground ensures quality of materials and workmanship.

        • -1

Then how bout you offer to send out a couple of knives for review purposes. I’d be happy to test one.

          • @uncyspam: You seemed to be prejudiced and biased and have already voted negative on this deal. And being an amature knife maker you may have conflict of interest in doing intentionally misleading and wrong review. Thanks for asking anyway.

    • Serious questions;

What types of steel are used in the damascus process?

      And you said:

      Its 100% genuine Damascus steel.

But I can't see the pattern continue on the sharpened section, so are you sure it doesnt have a solid core, with a damascus pattern outer?

      • This is how it is. You don't get pattern on the sharpened or polished sections. It is well known. If you check this video of this knife here you can see that the pattern continues on the top side of the balde. The visible full-tang handle top and bottom sides are also polished. The Damascus steel layered pattern will be visible if it is rubbed with a dilute acid.

As mentioned on the product description on the website the Damascus steel is forged from the combination of 1095 & 15n20 steel.

      • and these are genuinely full-tang blades with no weld/joint in the middle. Full-tang blades costs more as it takes larger length of Damascus steel billet to cut a full-tang blade out of it.
