    WM Note:

    • I have seen only $50 and $100 denominations of the Swap Celebration gift card stocked at Woolworths.

    • When I exchanged a Swap Celebration gift card for an eBay gift card earlier this year, the eBay gift card code was emailed to me within a minute of submitting the exchange request.

    • Could you use it straight away?

My code is coming up as invalid šŸ¤·ā€ā™‚ļø

      • +1

        No idea.

I redeemed my Swap Celebration gift card a few months after purchasing it! (I have only ever purchased and redeemed oneā€¦)

It sounds like your gift card may not have been activated yet, but Iā€™m not entirely sure. Blackhawk Network (the gift card issuer) do not state how long it usually takes for a gift card to be activated. If I were you, Iā€™d wait another day, and then contact Blackhawk Network if there are still issues.

Are you getting error messages on both the exchange page and the balance check page?

        • +1

          Thanks for the reply mate.

Yeah error on both.. been 2hr now since code was issued from swap šŸ™„

          • @vash5: Were you able to exchange it for an eBay gift card in the end?

            • +1

@WookieMonster: Hey sorry about late reply.

Yeah did get it to work. The guys who make gc are ducking idiots!!

The digital gc comes with a card and pin number

              https://ibb.co/8PGtBnq

I was trying to use the card number and getting errors. Out of sheer frustration I tried the pin number, and it worked at ebay checkout.

Thank duck, but the way they communicate what details to use in ebay stupid. Never before have I needed to enter a PIN number for redeem gc card.

Thanks again for all you help :)

Anyone used the "OnlyONE Visa Dining". How does it compare to the TCN Restaurant card?

    • From the FAQ:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/gift_card_deals_retailer_fā€¦

The list of merchants it can be used at are here: https://onlyonegiftcard.com.au/only-one-gift-cards/category-ā€¦

The OnlyONE Dining Gift Card can only be used at the following Visa Merchant Groups: Eating Places and Restaurants (5812), Hotels, Motels & Resorts, Central Merchant (7011), Amusement Parks, Circuses, Carnivals, and Fortune Tellers (7996), Membership Clubs (Sports, Recreation, Athletic), Country Clubs, and Private Golf Course (7997)

      Interestingly… fortune tellers.

The beauty and spa one might be my new favorite since it can be used as massage palors and miscellaneous personal service.

        • +1

A lot of those places are cash only, particularly if you want anything extra.

    • I used the fast food one last time but dining looks like it has fast food plus more.

      • Fast food can be used in uber eats, might be useful for those who use ubereats from time to time.

However, since the app cannot do split payment itā€™s pretty hard to exactly using up the balance.

        • Cant you get ubereats cards at a greater discount than 10%?

          • @ATangk: Depends

There are times where Shopback or Cash rewards offer extra cashback promo on their giftcard portal which stack up to 10% off, but otherwise itā€™s hard to get 10% off Uber eats giftcard recently

    • +1

The benefits for these Visa ones:
      1) Relatively easier to stock because you can load up to $500 for each card. A couple of stores I went to had more than 10 of each type in stock.
      2) You can use the Night Out one in more categories

The major downside is you can't load them to your phone for tap payment and balance tracking.

      • Any websites you can use the night out?

  • How the Visa card works? Can it be used online and in store?

    • +4

Officially speaking, the Visa cards in this deal can only be used at merchants with specific Merchant Category Codes (MCCs). Unofficially speaking, you may be able to use some of the Visa cards in this deal at merchants outside the specific MCCs (as youā€™ll see from some of the comments in this deal).

These Visa cards can be used in-store or online, as long as the merchant accepts prepaid Visa gift cards.

      • You will have a hard time finding a merchant that does not accept prepaid Visa gift cards in-person.

      • Some merchants will not accept prepaid Visa gift cards online, as they do not have security features that allow the merchant to verify that the authorised cardholder is attempting to use the card (e.g. 3-D Secure). I suspect Menulog and Deliveroo are two relevant examples of merchants that do not accept prepaid Visa gift cards, because they donā€™t accept Ultimate gift cards (even though they were/are listed on the Ultimate Eats (Visa) gift cards).

If you are in-store, these Visa cards function just like any other magstripe-only Visa or Mastercard card:

      • Swipe the card on the EFTPOS terminal
      • Select Credit (if youā€™re asked by the EFTPOS terminal)
      • Enter the PIN that is on the back of the card and press Enter.1

      1. All the Visa gift cards in this deal come with a PIN on the back of the gift card, which makes redeeming the gift card relatively straightforward. I mention this, because the OnlyONE Visa Home Improvement gift card (which is not part of this deal) and the OnlyONE Visa Green gift card sold at Officeworks are signature-only, which means that a merchant may ask you to sign to authenticate a purchase.

      • +2

Can confirm OnlyONE Night Out Visa card is not accepted on Menulog.

By the way, Menulog and Deliveroo both accepts Ultimate Eats gift cards again. Just placed a Menulog order today and Deliveroo order two days ago using an Ultimate Eats gift card. Wasn't working a couple of weeks ago but is working now so looks like they've updated their system recently to accept them again.

        • Gahhhh Ultimate gift cards are so annoying.

Menulog and Deliveroo disappeared from the Ultimate gift card website sometime last week, which is why I assumed above that Ultimate gift cards were trying to remove them altogether.1 If it works at Deliveroo and Menulog, thatā€™s fantastic (and Iā€™m glad to hear itā€™s finally working again)! If my memory serves me correctly, it hasnā€™t been working since about Dec 2021ā€¦

          1. I use this as my data source because the QR code on the front of an Ultimate Eats (Visa) gift card points to that page.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: I still have a few Ultimate Eats GC (physical) that I bought thinking to use with Menulog, better use them up quick before it gets removed altogether.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: Very hit and miss with Ultimate Eats. Doesnā€™t work for weeks, then suddenly does, then suddenly doesnā€™t. I finally used my ā€œOfficeworksā€ price matched ones (at $38) a few weeks ago. Ended up with about 30cents left on each, easy to manage the balance.

Will get a few of the Visa One for Uber and Deliveroo on the special gift cards :).

            • @Coops1: "easy to manage the balance"- did you mean not easy? How're you gonna use up $0.30c on each- I can only think of probably Nando's/Grill'd but it's annoying.

              • @Craze: I don`t care about the 30 cents. It's not a couple dollars. 30cent loss from a $12 discount.

It's like the Ampol gift cards when you have 0.01cents left on it when you calculate the 6c saving on the pump price incorrectly.

      • Hey Wookie, just wondering if you've tried using these VisaOne GCs to pay bills online or via PostBillPay in store? Thanks.

        • +1

          Nope.

I have never purchased any category-restricted OnlyONE Visa gift cards, because I donā€™t want to deal with the hassle of trying to figure out where I can actually spend them, especially since I rarely spend money at any of the merchants listed on these gift cards. (I have read the exploits of other people sometimes successfully redeeming them on Shopbackā€™s gift card portal, but I donā€™t have a Shopback account, soā€¦)

I have purchased plenty of the OnlyONE Visa Green gift cards (i.e. the green ones you see on this webpage and are from the same gift card issuer).

          • They cannot be used for ATO payments. The card issuer blocked any payments being sent to the ATO a few years ago.

          • Iā€™m not sure whether they can be used for Post Billpay in-person at Australia Post, because I find that a lot of billers these days do not accept Visa or Mastercard payments anymore. I pretty much only use EFTPOS gift cards if I ever go through Post Billpay in-person at Australia Post these days (and thatā€™s only for billers that do not surcharge for Australia Post payments or card payments).

Some good comments here on Visa cards: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/680571

I got some Visa Fast Food during previous deal and I regret it as they don't work sometimes so wastes my time and also hard to use up the balance. Best use I found was to use in the maccas app and to use to pay doordash dashpass. Is hassle to keep tally of remaining funds. I wasn't able to use on menulog when trying. I am not looking forward to using up the little amounts I have left on the cards - maybe going to go to maccas when it's not busy and do split transaction.

    • +2

Can maccas do split payments across two cards i.e. a gift card and a credit card?

Once I tried to do split on card and cash, they asked for cash first which means you need the exact cash to handover then they'll do the rest on card. Which can make it tricky if you're trying to spent all the remaining amount on a gift card.

      • lol, oh no didn't know, I haven't tried yet. I guess I better ring ahead to confirm whether maccas or elsewhere. Or do as you mention cash and 1 card each visit. Or be really embarrassing and make a couple of separate orders in the one visit.

I have the same issue with those Ultimate Eats cards in that they are hard to use up the remaining balances, but was lucky had a friendly worker at Grill'd who let me use 3 to 4 card balances for one order.

With interest rates increasing even more reason to only buy cards I can easily use the full balance.

        • Why would you be embarrassed making separate orders? Just use the self serve kiosk and nobody cares/knows how many orders you place.

          • @truetypezk: Self-serve probably can't do mix of remaining card balance and cash, so needs to be in person though. I know how I feel if someone holding up the line in front of me, so I don't want to be that guy.

If it was coles/ww self-serve where can split payment method then no problems - but not with these category specific cards.

      • +3

The one Iā€™ve been too said they can do one split with cash.

  • +4

Be careful with the eBay gift cards - I've had checkout fail more than once, but the gift card balance still gets reduced to $0 ! It takes literally months with eBay support to get the missing gift card balance back.

    • Doesnā€™t it usually go to the account?

    • +2

Interesting, I've bought thousands in these cards and never had it happen.

      • It's not an issue with the giftcards themselves - they're fine. But if anything goes wrong with your purchase at eBay's end, you don't necessarily get to keep the balance on the giftcard.
I had a couple that got debited to $0 during a failed checkout - but then they got refunded 24 hours later. And a couple of others that also got debited to $0 during a failed checkout - but no refund appeared.
You know you're getting on to this pain train if "Your payment is pending" turns into "Your payment didn't go through".

        • I've started mixing purchases with gift cards with a small amount on Visa, seems on work (based on a small sample size).

  • Are these Visa prepaid cards and the categories (e.g. "Dining") effectively just gift packaging? Or are you actually restricted to the categories?

  • +9

Reminder that OnlyONE Visa Night Out cards can be used at Shopback so basically 10% off on top of any gift cards there. What more they count towards weekly Everyday rewards points offers too (both last checked April)

    • +3

Using Coles MC to pay for Visa Night Outs to redeem 10x EDR points then use that to buy SB GCs. Alright.

      • +1

His way will be hit and miss for most people, but it'll work after multiple different tests. I'll get some of these too this time.

    • You can use these directly to pay for GC purchases on ShopBack? No downside?

        • Ive been linking and unlinking cards since the beginning of prepaid card deals and I've never had any issues with shopback cashouts, so it seems its a YMMV thing.

      • Might be worth looking into to get some discounted Coles GC.

    • +1

As in, I can use the Night Out card as a payment card on the ShopBack app?

I just tried adding my card on the ShopBack app, and it said card verification failed.

      • +1

Interesting, need someone to verify this otherwise there will be a lot of disappointed ppl tomorrow with these cards.

        • Omg lucky I just read this, I was going to buy and use it on shopback . Yes someone can try please and get back to us?

      • i managed to add but the transactions did not go through when i actually made the payments.

        • Try to buy a different type of gift card.

          • +2

@Neoika: only uber eats seems to work,

            • +1

@dbui8743: SB categorises all gift cards. It may be work for all cards under Food & Alcohol.

Although Super Swap is under it, there is no guarantee.

      • +4

        Just checked.
Works at Shop back gift card when buying Doordash gift cards. Super swap/JB hi-fi/Sephora giftcards via Shopback don't work. I guess it is restricted to food related giftcards.

        • +1

          Thanks for sharing.

Maybe a little trick to help: try to buy Super Swap selected under Food & Alcohol. It may prompt the purchase to settle under the intended MCCs.

          • +1

@Neoika: I believe I did try that as well. Didn't seem to work.
Sorry can't verify again, just used up all the money :D Need someone else to confirm.

          • +3

@Neoika: Nope. I tried super swap, amazon, ebay & swap celebration under that category, rejected with "payment unsuccessful"

        • Sorry guys about the issues being experienced here, I actually had bought doordash gift cards but never thought shopback would categorize the transactions according to the gift cards so assumed that it would work on any. So for now what we can say is Shopback gift cards can be bought from these Only1 cards, but only that fall under their included categories

      • +2

If u get "card verification failed", it's likely because ur card was not active yet (there seems to be a bit of delay), try again. I got this and managed to add it after retrying an hour later, but not much options to buy as others commented

    • +1

Thanks for your comment about counting towards weekly shop. I had a deal of 2k points for over $40 spend so effectively 20% off now

  • Does it have any activation fee?

    • +1

None of the gift cards in this deal have an activation fee.

Some of the OnlyONE Visa gift cards not in this deal (e.g. OnlyONE Luxury, OnlyONE Green, OnlyONE Gaming) have a $5.95 or $7.95 activation fee, because those gift cards are not restricted to a specific Merchant Category Code.

      • So could those ones be used anywhere?

        • +1

          Pretty much.

There are some (but a lot fewer) exclusions, including:

          • Payments to the ATO online - the card issuer has blacklisted the ATO online portal, and I think Government EasyPay has also been blacklisted.

          • The purchase of some gift cards sold at Woolworths, Woolworths Metro and BIG W

          • Merchants that do not accept prepaid Visa gift cards (which may or may nor include a lot of EU-based merchants)

          • Merchants that require a card to support 3-D Secure

          • Recurring payments, direct debit or installments

          • Automated Fuel Dispensers (5542)

  • Hello. Can the Night out or dining gift card be used at event cinemas gold class? Does anyone know. Thank you

    • +1

I had a look at the Visa Merchant Category Code (MCC) booklet and if you are paying for Event Cinemas gold class tickets at an Event Cinemas location (or through their website), I would expect the MCC to be 7832 (Motion Picture Theaters). That is an MCC that is not a permitted MCC on the Night Out or Dining gift cards, so those gift cards should not work (at least officially speaking). However, I donā€™t have any real world experiences of how stringent the gift card issuer is with enforcing the list of MCCs, so there is a chance it could work in the real world.

However, if youā€™re purchasing Event Cinema gold class tickets through a third party (e.g. a gift card portal), the gift card portal will (probably) use a different MCC to 7832, and itā€™s really anyoneā€™s guess what the MCC would be in that situation and whether a Night Out or Dining gift card would work in this situation.

      • +1

        Damn! Thank you :)

  • Hi OP,

FYI the Go to Deal button always redirects back to Woolies' main page.
Anyone keen to try out - enter this link manually or click https://www.woolworths.com.au/shop/catalogue/view#view=catalā€¦

You can change the area name accordingly as per your relevant state.

  • Can the night out Visa card be stored and on Apple Pay?

    • +2

      I donā€™t think so.

I donā€™t think any OnlyONE Visa gift cards can be added onto a mobile wallet. I tried a few months ago and got error messages. I also donā€™t see any references to mobile wallets on the OnlyONE website.

  • +1

Thanks Wookiemonster, Iā€™m thinking of the restaurant gift card that can be stored on Apple Pay , thought might be the same

  • Can anyone confirm how many SC eBay GC can be used in one transaction? Does it stack with shopback too?

    • +1

The eBay gift cards you get from Swap Celebration gift cards are identical to regular eBay gift cards (and are also identical to the eBay gift cards you can purchase through Shopback, Cashrewards, Prezzee, Coles, Woolworths, etc). Because of this…

      • You can find information on eBay gift card limits here (and make sure you read the reply to the linked comment too).

      • The Notes section of the eBay page on Shopback states: Cashback is valid when gift cards are used as a payment method.

      • +1

        DON'Ts
Any Purchases with the use of Voucher / Coupon / Promo code will result in cashback tracking at $0.00 (unless otherwise stated)

        • +1

Yep. Youā€™ll get zero cashback through Shopback if eBay detects you used a coupon code (e.g. SNSHOGA) in a purchase.

  • +1

Is there a limit on number of gift cards you can use for AirBnB per transaction?

    • You can load the gift cards to your Airbnb balance so I don't think there is a limit.

    • +1

buy airbnb giftcard while FF points as reward, top up account, book airbnb through Qantas app to get additional FF points.

  • +1

Is it better to buy night out over dinning/fast food as it seems it include both?

    • yes agreed.

      • Does NightOut include delivery services eg Uber?

  • Does fastfood or night out has $500 denomination? If yes I can buy $500 I'm one card and use it anywhere restaurant card is accepted?

    • Does fastfood or night out has $500 denomination?

      It depends.

I noticed one Woolworths yesterday stocking a variable load denomination where you can load anything between $50-$500. Another Woolworths I visited yesterday only sold fixed $50 denominations, so it really depends on what your local Woolworths have in stock. I think the fixed $50 denomination is being replaced with the variable load denomination, because the latter has a longer expiry date.

use it anywhere restaurant card is accepted?

Yes, but it is reliant on a merchant:

      • Accepting prepaid Visa gift cards (and I donā€™t think Iā€™ve ever come across a restaurant that does not accept them in-person), and

      • Having its payment systems correctly coded with the correct merchant category code (MCC). You may find the odd restaurant or two that has a random MCCā€¦ I once went to a cafe with a friend who had a similar gift card (i.e. a gift card that could only be used at restaurants and eating places). When they attempted to make a payment, the cafeā€™s EFTPOS machine kept on declining payment. They eventually relented and used a different card to pay for the transaction. However, when they reached out to their bank for the card they successfully used to pay for the transaction, the bank said the MCC of the merchant was for a bakery, not a restaurant!

  • +2

Both Visa Dining and Night Out did not work at Pizza Hut: 'authentication failed'.
    Perplexed.

    • I also tried using Night Out on Pizza Hut online last night and the card was rejected. This means Pizza Hut falls under the category WookieMonster described in his comment above:
"Some merchants will not accept prepaid Visa gift cards online, as they do not have security features that allow the merchant to verify that the authorised cardholder is attempting to use the card (e.g. 3-D Secure)"

    • +1

Some potential explanations, depending on whether you were instore or online (and my guess is that you were trying to pay online):

      Instore

      • The MCC of the location was not for a restaurant. This would be weird, but not unheard of, because some non-PH restaurants are assigned seemingly random MCCs.

      • The location has programmed their payment systems to not accept prepaid gift cards. This would be strange, because it is unusual (at least in my experience) for a restaurant to do this, since the restaurant can physically see you and can

      Online

      • PH requires any cards used on their website to support 3-D Secure. This would not surprise me, as 3-D Secure allows payment processors to get the card issuer to verify whether the cardholder is the person who is actually attempting payment online. Prepaid gift cards cannot support 3-D Secure, because they are not tied to a specific person, so there is no way for the card issuer to verify whether you are actually the cardholder.

      • PH has blacklisted all prepaid cards. I doubt this is the case, because some prepaid cards (e.g. Qantas Travel Money) support 3-D Secure, but there are some payment processors that are so stringent that they just block all prepaid cards, not just prepaid gift cards or cards with no 3-D Secure support.

      • The MCC of the location was not for a restaurant. This would be weird, but not unheard of, because some non-PH restaurants are assigned seemingly random MCCs.

      • +1

I have used Cole PMC(Indue issued) online without issue before.

      • +1

        Thanks @WookieMonster.

Was used online and this Pizza Hut merchant accepts prepaid cards e.g. TCN Restaurant Card.

Perhaps the 3-D secure explains this? Can't remember if TCN Restaurant Card has this, but sounds like the VISA OnlyOne Dining and Night Out do not have 3-DS.

        • Iā€™m not entirely sure.

Digital TCN Restaurant cards are prepaid Mastercard gift cards, so they do not support 3-D Secure. However, Iā€™m assuming you used a TCN Restaurant via Apple Pay or Google Pay? If so, I think payment processors usually skip 3-D Secure checks if you use a card via Apple Pay or Google Pay, because youā€™re using a wallet tied to your Apple or Google account, plus you usually need to authenticate using biometrics or the deviceā€™s PIN to authorise a payment. This would increase the payment processorā€™s confidence that the cardholder is initiating the transaction.

    • It works with Maccas app, I just tried. Yay. Also OK for a couple of local restaurant I tried, happy with the card

  • It says to wait 24 hours before using it, is that right ?

  • +1

Visa night out didnā€™t work on shopback food and alcohol super swap

  • So with night out, the only cards that you can buy from shopback is Uber, DoorDash any food card? Thatā€™s it ? Can buy Amazon etc ? Or any other website I can use ?

  • Any idea if a football membersip via sportsubs is going to fall under MCC 7997?

  • I think Ebay has a limit of 8 gift cards per transaction. Is it possible to combine these Swap Card into a Larger nomination Ebay gift card?

    • +2

Yes. I swapped 5x100 into a single 500 ebay giftcard
