Is it just me, or is it frustrating how Philips have created 50 billion different model codes so that you struggle to compare models across retailers?

      This model in point.
      Amazon has HD9651/91 - $383.95
      Myer has HD9650/93 - $424.15
      GoodGuys(Commercial) has HD9650/93 - $405

According to a Philips rep on ProductReview, the HD9651/91 has been discontinued and replaced by the HD9650/93 (lol… initial number goes down, and the second part goes up… wtf)

But by gosh, there was actually an HD9650/91 model!! https://philips.to/3sPyf0a
And then this posts model HD9651/91: https://philips.to/3zk3aUV

But in terms of the model sold at Amazon vs the other model at other retailers - Philips: "…the HD9651/91 model has a double layer accessory included and a weighs 8.28 kg while the HD9650/93 weighs 7.99 kg."

      • Do the numbers mean anything, for example, the size?

HD9650/91 and HD9651/91 look pretty much the same to me.

        Something im waiting for :D

        thanks

    • Damn that looks mint

  • Can someone explain how this Philips is better than the much cheaper ones you can get everywhere else - ie Kmart, Aldi, Big W, Harris Scarfe etc for like $60-100?

I had this for 2+ years no issues. I had cheaper ones before and their anti stick coating on the inside of the tray bubbles and peels within a year.

Short answer is: It isn't, but there are pro's and cons as with anything.

      Pro:
The build quality and design of the Philips airfryers is the highest quality.
Cleaning is very easy due to the modular design of the cooking cavity.
      Interface is simple and effective.

      Cons:
      Expensive AF in comparison
Cooks stuff the same as cheaper alternatives

    • You may get better value from an instantpot or ninja
I went with the Philips because unlike others, the element is easier to clean and the fan sucks air from the bottom for more even cooking.

We got the Instant Pot for mum, and this one for ourselves. The Instant Pot's main basket can't be put in the dishwasher, which is a major bummer, but it's certainly much cheaper and does a great job. Personally I find the Philips presets useless as many of them are the same temperature. Their "anti fat" two part tray is also a bit of an extra hassle as it means one extra part to wash than most other air fryers.

oh yeah the star thing at the bottoms sucks to clean as more oil/grease gets stuck in there.
I've been putting it all the dishwasher lately.

Agree the preset option are mostly useless.

          Still happy overall.

I have the earlier version of this same model Phillips. The only difference between it and the others I have (Kmart and Sunbeam) is that the Phillips has higher wattage and therefore cooks a bit quicker than the other machines I have (think it has the highest wattage of any airfryer so gets up to temp quick).

The size is pitiful though if you have a family of 4 and boys… after a couple of years use the basket is rusted in places, the double layer stand snapped in half, the lcd is faulty and the draw no longer closes to the point it heats the bench rather than the food inside.

I like my sunbeam now - is a door version. Bigger, has a basket which rotates and blows the Phillips out of the water for chips and gems being cooked evenly. Need to shake the Phillips otherwise everything sticks and had issues fitting standard chooks/roasts inside. Also trying to cook a pork roast results in a house full of smoke - only the Phillips with pork seems to have this issue.

        Which model Sunbeam?

  • Been waiting for this to go below $400, thanks OP
