    If you cut down the background noise, you can turn the volume down… so you can hear enough of the ambient noise.
    The other option is to NOT have noise isolation, so you turn the volume up so you can hear your Justin Bieber above the background noise… and you're in the same situation, but with hearing damage.

    Exactly. If you wear these at the gym, you won't be able to hear the spin class behind you until it's TOO LATE.
