FYI you can do pretty much the same thing* with WifiMan, which is a completely free app released by the well known Ubiquiti (they make enterprise grade networking equipment).
It also allows you to create a Wi-Fi heatmap using your phone's camera and accelerometers (and on an iPhone, LIDAR is used), it's useful for figuring out where you should deploy your mesh routers or access points.

    *Except 3G / LTE signals

    • Good point, thanks. I guess if anyone is using 3G/LTE signals and wants to test them, this would be a good option as I'm decently sure this app covers both.

Enterprise grade might be stretching the truth a little bit

      • Enterprise? Ubnt switches limited to only 10G SPF+ hardly there. Enterprise grade you should have at least 40G or 100G gear.

        • I agree, but according to the down votes I got, other people dont hahah

    • +2

The mapping only works if you have ubiquiti gear

      • On Android WifiMan has a lot more low level access. Try it on Android no need for Ubnt gear.

  • Edit - sorted

Or for Android, WifiAnalyzer is pretty good free opensource wifi analyser app. Nice to see what channel the neighbours are on, what equipment they're using. We've co-ordinated which 2.4 & 5 channels we're using as to not overlap too much. Sped everyone's wifi up.

Yes. Been using this for years. Definitely good to see what other channels are being used by neighbours

  • Any iOS equilavent?

    • Yes would like to know too Thanks

    • Wifiman mentioned above works on iPhone

… never mind this only works with ubiquiti stuff

Check out their video about it. This is the pro version, but you don't need the pro version IMHO

It looks like the program got an overhaul recently, but my old pro version didn't get the update :(

I just saw what M00cow wrote, he/she beat me to it

  • Still shows $1.29…?
