HN is doing SGII for $394 today and DSE is doing Nexus for $449.
Myself I would prefer Nexus with plus google and would receive updates faster than Samsung, what do you think?
They have both bad and good with each other.
BTW $4.95 delivery.

Good luck getting one (SII @ Harvey Norman). Sold out within minutes.
Unless… you don't mind a pink SII.
Well good deals don't last long. It was available online for a good hour or 2 and plenty of notice to know the sale was happening so you are unlucky if you missed out. This I suspect will go through the same deal, the store checker near me showed that all 8 or so were out of stock so how long can the online stock last?
depends on personal preference.. but i reckon its still a good deal..
$444 at .becextech with free delivery

Would rather spend $5 more from Dick Smith, Website seems fishy and wouldn't have good warranty.
Anyway I paid $240 for mine on a telstra plan :)
Doesn't appear to be Australian stock though so if you wanted imported Kogan has it for $399 + shipping.
S2 is a better choice for the price, the 5mp camera is crap TBH. Even if the S2 was the same price, I'd still get the S2 for choice of expandable memory, design and camera as well as the processor.
its not always about the hardware though. i can't speak for phones these days but when the iPhone 3gs came out with its 3.2mp camera, it took much superior photos than its competitors did with their 5mp camera. and also how often would you find yourself expanding your memory?
I have 16GB+32GB in my S2. I use it as an iPod replacement at work. It's nice to have the option, not having the option is a fail.
Oh and S2 is running 4.03 already.
The biggest reason for or against is TW, I personally like it, some don't.
I don't.
good to know
Nexus sound quality with headphones stomps the S2. No microSD is stupid but inconsequential for most users.
The Nexus camera is perfectly fine, processor is more than enough for any application and the screen of course is much better.
Nah, quality is same, volume is problem on S2. That can be solved for less than $2 by buying Voodoo Louder from Play Store. You can damage your ears as much as you like then.
And if you want true quality sound then you need a) good quality headphones and b) Neutron Music Player, its the only true high quality player I've found on Android.

Output with headphones is quite frankly terrible on the S2 given it was supposed to be a top-tier device.
The 5MP camera onthe Nexus is not crap, it's easily on par with the SII and in some cases, eg. low light, considerably better. It's not all about MP, and hasn't been for a very long time.

that review is on picture quality alone…I have personally used both phones although I have an S2 bias, but the camera is not one of the strong points of the Nexus.

This gives a more in depth analysis of the camera. nd yes the pentile display also puts me off it, but that is personal choice.
Yeah I like to try something myself rather than believe random reviews. There are normally many with completely opposite opinions.
One less subpixel puts you off but having less than half the actual pixels on the S2 doesn't? The Nexus screen has higher pixel density AND subpixel density than the S2.
I've used both phones as well. The pentile matrix is unnoticeable.
1280x720 vs 800x480. Ponder that for a moment.
Try using both in sunlight, let me know which one you can see…There is no point in having those many pixels if you can't see them
Both are usable in sunlight. S2 is noticeably better but Nexus easily surpasses the threshold of usability. It's really not an issue, biggest criticism with this phone for me was the weak vibrate motor and speaker but the screen made it worth it.
My point was that if you're comparing S2 with Nexus, pentile means nothing. Plenty of other screens have a pentile matrix and high brightness as well.
faster update? ics is up to 4.0.4 now and I'm still stuck on 4.0.1
You probably don't have the yakju build of software.
Head over to XDA Developers and they have tutorials on how to check and update to this build if you like.
Ive been there and seen it. But will it erase my phone if I updates it "unofficially"?
I got one white SII from Bondi Harvey Norman Today. There are still a couple stocks, not much left. Grab the itunes card too. Finished in few minutes. I saw a lady took like 8-10 cards and the sales lady seemed donno it's limited one per customer policy.
NSW also? Not VIC only?
would get the HTC One X for only $100 more at Kogan, its a newer phone and currently the top android.
LOL is $549 + $ 19 postage is $100 more? Plus, if I will get the tax back in next month, it only costs me $358 only.
That's $210 more than Galaxy SII. There is always newer phone. How about U pay another $200 more for samsung SIII. wow that's top ranked mobile phone.
This thread is about the Galaxy Nexus at DSE. So it's $100 more + delivery….
How $449 + 4.95 = 100 more?
He said the HTC One X costs $100 more(plus delivery)
I would do the same, but the Nexus here is Australian stock, which matters to some people.
For anyone interested…i was in HN (batemans bay) a couple of hours ago and they still had 3 SGS II on the shelf for $394
I already had a Galaxy Nexus on order from Kogan but I couldn't resist picking one of these up today for $30 more. I'm pretty sure the Australian stock comes with 2 years Samsung warranty so worth the extra bucks.
The Kogan one will go to my girl when it arrives;)
got one, the HN SG2 updated to 4.0.4 when u open, sweet ;)
I'd stick with the SGSII for $55 cheaper but still a good deal for Aussie stock.
