Still good to use on something like Fire TV 4K Max, $57 after the code (best to buy during Amazon Prime Day soon with CR/SB though).

To be fair the PS5 one should work with all of those as well. I use mine on my PC and prefer it to the Xbox ones. For some reason the xbox connection is always finnicky, even with the Xbox USB stick (and especially bluetooth).
Unfortunately, Game Pass games on PC do not detect a Dualshock 4.
You need some 3rd party mapping software like DS4Win.

Perhaps a controller firmware update would help. I had problems on PC until after the update.
AFAIK, you can only do this via a Xbox console. Tried the Xbox Accessories app on Windows years ago but couldn't get it to work.
Settle down big boy. I play on PC and I prefer the Xbox controller because it feels better in my hands and it still has native support with every game that has controller, can't say the same about PS

It's really quite odd - I've been an Xbox guy most of my life, but recently got a PS5 and holy shit - what a difference in controller…. You realise just how basic the Xbox is after using a PS5 controller - even just due to the technology alone (internal speaker, haptic triggers, internal mic, lighting, track pad etc.) i'm so surprised the Xbox is higher priced
I got the white one from Amazon last week and they sent me the old version. Fortunately the return process was quite easy with Amazon.
Both black controllers I’ve bought, one November 2021 and one May 2022 have been the new version.
Yea the white one that came with my console bought in November 2021 and black one bought earlier this month, both from Big W were the new version. Only had issues with Amazon.

Nope. You have to open the box and check the back of the controller for the FCC ID. If it ends in 1A you're in the clear, if not you have the old version.
@xers: Is it just the prospect of potential joystick drift? or are there other design issues? I got an old one from Amazon last month also.
@whorishmouth: The springs in the adaptive triggers are thicker in the new controllers. The new models also have a UKCA logo printed on the rear the older models don’t.
The joystick parts are slightly different but I don’t know if they’ve been proven to be less susceptible to drift.
@xers: Ahh damn, 3 of my controllers are not 1A. Only 1 is 1A. I can feel the difference. The newer one feels firm and a little heavier.

I just requested a refund. When I filled out the return form there was an option for "product not meeting expectation" or something like that and I just picked that one. Refund was processed as soon as I dropped it off at the post office.

Same. Console controllers are the best PC controllers for playing local multiplayer games with the kids.
We've been playing Shredders Revenge on PC gamepass, then moving the 8bitdo adapter to the switch to use the PS4 controllers for Mario Kart.
So easy, and so much cheaper than buying 4 controllers each for both PC and Switch.
Black is good, it doesn't get dirty-looking, especially with your or your kids' grubby hands!

Xbox One/Series controllers are still a bit easier in some games, but mostly it's not an issue.
If you prefer the feel of the DS5 over the Xbox ones, go for it.
Since day one i believe, using bluetooth and wired with no additional drivers. and then can customize led colours and rumble stuff further with the DS4 app..
Yes, I use it with my PC over bluetooth. It works natively with Steam, and for any other game which expects an Xbox controller, use DS4Windows.

I think it depends on the game. I think we needed DS4win with some games but not others.

Picked up the Purple controller for $62 from JB this time last month.
I'm desperate for a pro controller, I need back paddles so badly for movement in COD but I'm not willing to modify one of these controllers because I already return 2.
The controller that came with my PS5 is almost unusable, horrible drift. I am not sure how Sony ripped everyone off with these crappy controllers.

The girl at JB told me just to keep claiming warranty because PS5 acknowledge there's issues with these controllers.

Slightly offtopic but I really love these Dualsense controllers and my PS5.
I even use PS5 remote play on my PS4 Pro whenever my wife wants the big tv. Works like a charm.

JB Hi-Fi have the 1A models and will price match. They also allow 30 days to return the controller if you change your mind, which is great if you want to spend a few hours testing the feel and functionality of the controller (which I'll be doing tonight as I bought it as an upgrade to my DS4 for PC gaming).
