My wife prefers these over the real thing these days

      Take the ring back.

      • -2

I thought that was funny. Upvote to offset the ideologues.

We are popping over to the IKEA Logan maze tomorrow (pray for us), if they are still discounted will give them a go.

Hmm, maybe my partner and I are atypical, but we don’t crack jokes about divorce.

            @Nuggets: We do! It’s fun.

@Nuggets: The point is the absurdity of dumping your wife over food.

People are so censorious these days.

          • @Nuggets: It was a joke about real balls, now shes got the ring she can have the fake ones.
I guess thats why people are married these days, Insecurity.

(lol at my previous comments votes. Some got it thankfully! ;))

        • Same. Up voted you and the previous commenter

I hear she makes the same complaint about other things too.

        IKEA sells eggplant dishes?

  • -6

Hope we don't find horse in these too.

  • +2

Same at Rhodes, along with the veggie balls and the veg mince too.

  • +6

I just want meatballs that taste like real meatballs

    • +2

      Won’t find them at Ikea

    • +2

Are you saying that horse isn't a real meat?

      • It’s a play on the I just want milk that tastes like real milk meme

  • +4

These are actually great. "Plant balls" is a bit of a silly sounding name but I like them enough go there specifically to pick some up every few months.

The vegetable balls are a bit soft and fall apart easily, flavour gets lost in the rest of the meal.

Wonder what the ingredients are. Sometimes (probably often) these sorts of manufactured veggie products have a bunch of ingredients, most of which are barely recognisable. We used to buy a fair few things from the supermarket but have gone off them and make our own mostly now (to reduce meat intake).

        Cancer in a ball

      • -7

And why would you want to reduce meat intake? You want to turn into a western soyboy?

    • That’s almost original. Do you come up with the cool Ikea names?

    • +1

Something came in the Ozbargain deal page….

    These are pretty good

  • Can anyone advise where I can find the ingredients list?

    • +1

100% plant-based stuff. Salt is extracted from the tears of the California redwood. That’s not very Swedish, but they’re an international company these days

Some people are humour challenged. Upvoted.

  • Have these been individually checked for horse meat or should we take their word for it?

    • They said plant based, not plant only. I think a little random meat in there is a good thing to round out the higher and lower notes of the palate

This would be good if they did delivery for a bunch to then go ahead and store in the freezer.

You're not getting me into that 'refurnished airport hanger cum mouse maze' again in my life.

    • +3

In case if you're genuinely interested, they usually stock these right at the exit where the hot dogs and cashiers are, so you don't have to go through the rest of the store if you enter via the exit.

        Cheers, appreciate the reply.

To be honest though, I find IKEA to be overwhelming. When I get home from being there it feels like I've ran a marathon. I have genuinely have a phobia of that place.

Thanks to the OP for sharing too btw :)

Bought one. It’s really not good 🤢

    • +2

At least you didn’t buy an entire packet of them!

  • I may have been living under a rock but since when did Ikea start selling frozen food products?

    • +3

Their meatballs which they've been selling forever come frozen.

    • -4

They’ve diversified due to controversy of using free labour to assemble their furniture, likened to Uyghur slavery.

    • There is a food area where the checkouts are in the Richmond store.

  • No horse meat no deal

  • sheep balls are the best just ask chevy chase

  • Ikea North Lakes were doing these and the plant mince for $5. Great deal with a saving of $12 I think

  • Does anyone have a list of the ingredients?

    • Google knows everything! They’re full of wholesome pea protein. The “meat” of the pea, as it were

  • +2
  • I don’t mind these. But when you get them at IKEA they are smothered in gravy and come with mashed potato so I could be eating the foam packaging beads and not notice.

At the IKEA restaurant we looked at the price points on the balls and ordered the middle number because it seemed the best bang for buck. Turned out it was the kids menu option so we got a free jelly as well. They label it now as the kids serve so we are too embarrassed to buy it again.

  • In Tempe NSW store

    Plant-based balls 500g
    Vegetable balls 500g
    Plant-based Mince 750g

    3 products all for $3.

I personally prefer the vegetable balls, although the normal price for this one is lowest of the 3.

  • Given the price of veges is going through the roof it makes you wonder what is in these things. People?

    • +1

      Soylent Green.

    • Likely made of TVP, which is super cheap as it always is!

  • expire date?

I prefer more natural products, not fake.
