        I did, thanks.

      • +7

As someone that doesn't buy from Luke, I can say these prices are very legit. The CPU is $6 less than what I paid a week ago, and the mobo price the same. You could probably swap some parts to shave a few bucks, but that's not what it is, and even then it wont be much; outside of I guess a budget 3080?

If you have some better pricing, would be happy to see it.

    • +10

Just an opinion, only $121 difference excluding delivery to Sydney $58. Therefore, its only $63 cheaper with complete built. Probably can save more to buy individual parts from eBay or Amazon with free delivery and if capable to assemble myself and less wait time.

      • -5

        100%

      • +17

I'll preface this as someone that spent a few uni lectures researching my current build and building it myself, paying a $63+ premium to save time and effort looking and building is not a bad price to pay.

        • +2

Also true, although some of us also find the process fun in itself. A bit like building a lego set, but at the end you get more than an objectively useless pile of plastic :P

          • +1

@snep: You also gain an understanding of what the parts do and how they are assembled - super useful if you want the satisfaction of diagnosing any problems or having the knowledge to upgrade stuff in future (saves you money in the long run to an extent).

        • If you really research and make your own build, chances are you're paying significantly higher than $63 premium in getting 'slightly better' parts for every component.

        • not everyone has this kinda time or wants to know exactly each part of their build and all that compatibility issues.

I agree they should, in case something goes wrong they can identify which part of the pc needs replacing but not everyone has the same mindset.

  • +10

That total price used to be a single purchase for 3080 when it was at the peak!

    • +3

Some dumbass still selling used ex-miners GPU for that price on ebay and gumtree

and double dumbass who buys them

      • +2

Tbh it's only a dumbass who buys them.

    • +1

Worse than that, sold my 3070 for ~$70 less than this computer after using it daily for months.

    • Peak 3080's were selling over 3k

    • This is more of a FHR 3070 price (they were selling for over $2k). 3080s peaked a lot higher.

  • +7

Might be flying a bit close to the sun with a 750W?

    • +6

NVIDIA’s official recommendation is 750W. You can get away with less.

      • +1

recommendation is based on max spec using AMD threadripper probably. actual draw for 3080 complete system is around 350w on max load using i7.

    • I have an i5-8600K and a 3080 initially in an EVGA G3 650W Gold. I can definitively say, the sun melted me. I replaced the PSU with an Gigabyte 850W Gold and have had no issues since. Moral of the story, can't comment on 750W but 650W was definitely not enough.

      • I always overdo it on the power supply, not only for spikes in power draw but for future upgrades.

    • +3

Gamers Nexus just released a video about how Nvidia 3000 series power spike to 200% of rated power…

And PSU rating (bronze, gold) has nothing to do with quality, in case anyone assume any 750w Gold is good enough.

      • +1

I usually turn to TechJesus when I'm looking to buy something haha

    • +8

Er, this is an assembled machine, not a delivery of parts 😎

      • +3

If your gripe is with how allegedly slow this store is with dispatching stock, why are you talking shit about their comparison pricing, which is clearly verifiable?

        • -1

I don’t have a gripe. I’m just pointing out for others who are wanting a ready made PC from TechFast then expect a long wait time for delivery, despite what they say. In regards to PCPartPicker I would take that with a grain of salt.

          • +2

@MuddyClear: Lmao, what a cop out. Why not just say, prominently if you feel the need to, "in the past the dispatch times have been slow" instead of this nitpicking, drawn out whining? It sounds like you have a serious bug up your arse but don't have the balls to come out and say what it is.

            • -3

              @Ham Dragon:

in the past the dispatch times have been slow

              Slow is an understatement.

instead of this nitpicking, drawn out whining?

You lose all credibility when you exaggerate.

@Ham Dragon: The number of replies is not an indication of “whining…”. If you want less replies then maybe stop your pointless tit for tat 😉

      • +1

You're also paying to have it assembled, and have a company taking on responsibility for it having been done correctly dude. Sure you can make it cheaper but some people just want ready made, and this is a good price for that service.

    • +6

I've been on the lookout for a good 4mo. The 20% deals are on junk tech or price jacked stuff; no actual deals. The only true sales that I have seen have been the two afterpay ones. I grabbed the exact mobo and CPU for these prices but 10% off, but they were short lived and rare sales, and I had to stuff around with AP.

    • +7

Because shopping around, getting the parts and assembling the PC take time and effort. This is a pre-built machine where you're paying for someone else to spend that time and effort so you don't have to.

You know like how buying a steak at a butcher and cooking it at home is cheaper than going out to a restaurant and having them cook it for you?

        • +14

Ah there it is, the personal sledge that he just can’t help himself making

          • -1

@luketechfast: It’s not a personal sledge. If it was you would know about it. It would include your name and lots of profanity. It does not so calm down. I’m pointing out the fact given TechFast is a bulk builder, it takes a long time to assemble and ship out items, as mentioned by many on other threads.

            • @MuddyClear: I'm not too sure about the past but I recently put in an order and it was shipped out within a few days so seems they are improving.

Although I wished I had waited a bit longer as I much prefer this case as oppose to the black on I ordered. Oh wells….just a case….. :(

        • +2

Not sure how that's relevant to what I said.

If you have feedback on the store as a whole, perhaps you should post that as a standalone comment so that it is easier for everyone to see rather than halfway down a comment tree.

Not sure how that's relevant to what I said

Since you missed the memo, I was responding to your analogy, which is quite the opposite given how slow TechFast operates…

My analogy said nothing about to speed at which the steak is prepared. A steak takes like 3-4 minutes to cook, yet I have no expectation of getting it faster than if I was cooking it at home. I'm outsourcing the effort and paying for the pleasure.

              • -5

If you take pleasure on waiting for your steak, which arrives late and cold, then by all means enjoy! But I would rather cook it myself given the fact.

                • @MuddyClear: Why you so grudge, it's only a game (ING machine)

@MuddyClear: My analogy is to do with the type of product/service on offer.

Your response is to do with this specific seller.

You clearly have some kind of gripe with this seller that you haven't made known in this thread, and I don't follow all the techfast threads so I'm not sure exactly what that is. But you aren't adding much useful information other than to demonstrate that you have some kind of gripe with techfast. Judging by the negative votes your comments are receiving, your opinion is not the popular one.

                      • -1

I can appreciate that. Just pointing out your analogy does not take into account the specific seller, which is relevant given their history.

I don't follow all the techfast threads so I'm not sure exactly what that is.

                        There lies the problem maybe…

you aren't adding much useful information

Some people like you who don’t follow the threads might find it helpful to know of the long assembly/dispatch times in their purchasing decision.

    • +2

Bullshit, when was the last time you saw a 3080 for 20% off on eBay that wasn't price jacked to $3k or something similarly ridiculous?

      • -1

Calm down with your responses. We don’t want you to blow a gasket 😬

  • +2

Any chance I can order it pick up?

    Not far from your office.

    • I bought the 3060 earlier this year (yes, my bad for not HODL-ing!) and they said no, citing covid reasons and such. But hey, that may have changed now… who knows.

    • Apologies, we're not offering local pickup.

      • +6

        boooo

        • +4

Are you saying boooo or boooo-urns?

  • This seems like a pretty low spec CPU to combine with the 3080 isn’t it?

    • +4

I'd agree - but it comes down to the price point. You can bolt on an i7 for +$239.

      • I have a 9400 and a 2700 and that bottlenecks hard. I can imagine this being similar (however I'm not sure how the big/small architecture might have changed this, 3 generations is a bit of dev)

    • +5

Not really. If you're gaming at 1080p you might notice a difference but at 1440p or 4k you're talking a few frames at most in most games.
It's all about hitting a price point.

    • how confortable would you be pairing a 5600X with rtx3080?

      • +1

I have an 5600X paired with an RT3080 and I'm fairly comfortable.

        • +5

ikr, so it baffles me when people doubt the performance of the i5 12400F, when is on par if not slightly better then the 5600X.

          • +1

@Steakz: When I saw "Steakz replied" in the notification I thought this was going to be a response to my steak cooking analogy in this same deal post… :)

      • I run a 5600x with a 3090 at 4k@60hz with RTX on, no issues so far.

CPU bottleneck is correlated to frame rate, not resolution. It might bottlenecks at 1080p@120hz, but not 4k@60hz. But min frame rate still related to CPU performance too.

  • 750W is enough, but you can always change to 850W to 1000W to make sure.

  • Where can you find FHR?

    • +1

Why bother? its 100% unlock now. All FHR cards are now abused and almost out of warranty, its like buying 2nd hand car that's been beaten up 24/7.

      • Thanks, didn't realise it was unlocked now, woo!

  • Nice to see prebuilts & GPU prices came down a LOT, really hope car prices will be like this, so I can get a 2nd car at a more reasonable price …

  • G'day Luke,
Any chance of a 12100 or 12400 system with and AMD 6600XT or 6700XT before the 30th?

  • How much extra if I want to change to MSI MAG Z690 Tomahawk WiFi [ATX] Motherboard?
