[Back Order] ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 3080 OC 10GB V2 Video Card $1359 Delivered ($0 VIC C&C) @ BPC Tech

182

Arguably the best variation of these cards. You can wait til next-gen but this will be a solid card to own regardless. I'd say the only rtx you won't be disappointed getting early while others wait til next-gen. FYI no ones knows the performance of 40xx series could be a small or big jump but end of the day rumors are rumors, could be the same price or more but definitely not cheaper. and how much the next gen will affect current GPU prices we don't know until new-gen prices are revealed.

How much these particular models will drop further I doubt much below 1200 in given months but anything can happen given the economy rn.

ozb deal pricing is going the wrong way

  • I'd argue the TUF was the best edition since it launched at MSRP, expect prices to continue to drop till the new cards actually launch. Especially on the used market.

  • Got the 12GB version of this. Beast of a GPU.

    • "I've Won… But At What Cost?"

      • Cost (~$1000) was reasonable (sold a 3.5 year-old RTX2080 for $700 plus $100 steam voucher as part of a promo). Victory can be subjective I guess.

          So, $1700?

          • @beeze: $1700 is the current market price for 3080Ti, for 3080 12gb is still too pricey.

      • Now i read it in waluigi's voice

  • Sucks they're still making 3080 10gb cards rather than just making the 12gb variant. Guess they can sell more cards if they do 10gb.

    • The 12GB version is more like a lite cousin of the 3080 ti it's not just a memory increase.

    • Sucks they're still making 3080 10gb cards rather than just making the 12gb variant. Guess they can sell more cards if they do 10gb.

They're quite different cards, there is much more going on that just 2GB of extra memory. I'm not really sure why they call it a 3080 12GB, because it is not a standard 3080 with more memory. Just part of Nvidia's stupid naming of the cards. It really needed its own category similar to the Ti, because the average punter just assumes its a bit more memory.

    HODL!
Coins are falling and you will see exodus of used cards on ebay and marketplaces. If you want current gen, grab one of those. If not, wait for next gen. Unless this card goes under $1000 for this mid-year sale I do not see any reason to buy.

    • Waiting for those sweet sweet cheap used cards people have been talking about for weeks.

      • Because those people were not in panic. They are now.

        • But still no cheap cards…
          Where are they?

          • @beeze: Try to bid on this for example.

@beeze: There won't be none, those cards reached ROI mid last year, they can keep them for the next mining boom. no point of selling it cheap.

            • @[Deactivated]: That makes sense.
Personally I don't know what will happen, just keep seeing all these predictions of significant price changes (on top of what we have already seen) and dont see it happening. Another 10% maybe 20%? Sure. More than that before next gen are on (virtual) shelves? Doubtful.

              • -2

@beeze: some of my non-LHR 3080s cost around $1300-$1400 from late 2020 early 2021, they reached ROI in 4-5 months. The BTC/ETH peak price in Nov last year helped a lot.

Those cards have made profit after ROI. Even selling at $1 each is still $1 profit, no loss whatsoever.

I'd rather give the cards to friends or some poor children in poor countries for donation if I don't need time in future.

How much per month it make in ETH?

about enough to get a mcchicken

      • lol indeed :D

      Enough to retire early…

    • Those downvotes on your comment! LOL. Either they are miners or people cannot recognise humour anymore.

      • Its bitterness, there is no humour in Jimmy's antics.

        • Not really, he down voted the deal. He was always against mining. Now mining is down, he is making fun of miners.

      • Yeah mate all miners/people who already bought at high prices. They're trying to remove the negative vote

just still patiently waiting for Noctua 3080

    • ahh yes one of the strangest looking 3080s

      • Yes strange but somehow attractive

    • for the low low price of $1600?
      pass.

      • Well it’s listed for 6599 CNY in China few days back so converted to AUD is 1400. Dunno ho much the retailers here will list it initially

I mean this will do 1440p very high/high for a very long time. 10GB at 4K is still so frustrating, it's mostly fine, but you know in the future bigger texture packs will catch up with it eventually.

But 40 series, you know 40 series at this price will perform at, at least a 3090, if not more, I'd rather get a much lower card then lose $100-200 if you are absolutely that desperate, then do your best to get a 40 series at launch.

    • Maybe. Time will tell. 3090 isn't miles ahead of this and the 6900xt I bought this week for $1150 out performs it in some / many titles.
      It will be interesting to see;
      - What stock is like when formally announced (which if there are zero delays could be Sepember-ish - its been a good few years for delays all over the tech industry.
      - How much of the proposed FPS boost we actually get (as there are zero reviews so far)

I gave in, keen to dip my toe in the AMD waters, might not like it and end up with a 40xx next year.

      • 3090 is only miles ahead in VRAM, and yeah it's only about 10% up on a 3080 in terms of raw performance.

My hope is, we'll see similar performance to a 3090 at the 4070 class range, that will hopefully be around $1000

  • Mid range cards defiantly have more value to be had from sales, as they will take the longest to be replaced in the Lovelace lineup.

    • There are more of the unpopular models - 3070 / 3070TI, 6900XT, 6800. These cards are more commonly at or below RRP, with the 6900XT regularly below the (silly) $1600 AUD RRP. It should have been $1200 RRP, but even then it has been below that price recently and for a good tier of card.

    1. Yes these are probably one of the best 3080 models, but at this price - who cares? It's not worth the multi hundred dollar premium for almost exactly the same performance. Duh.

    2. It's bullshit to say "could be the same price or more but definitely not cheaper". Yes, almost always these days the price goes up for the same tier of card in the next generation e.g. 1080 > 2080. But that info alone is worthless because usually the card one/two tiers down in the new gen is either (roughly) cheaper for the same performance, or the same cost for better performance e.g. 2080 Ti vs 3070.

    3. Also complete bullshit to doubt on the cost of the cards falling in the future. If you haven't noticed, crypto is crashing super hard right now, and used cards are steadily dropping in price as the supply of miner cards are starting to significantly outweigh demand, given that a lot of people who might be interested in a GPU are those that held out against the scalpers and want a good price, not just the inflated second RRP or worse. But because this is Australia and we can't have nice things, we have to wait until a little after it's kicked in for the states for it to kick in here.

  • That’s been on back order since the last time I looked at it which was over a month ago

  • Anything that's not under $6.25/fps @1440p for 6800xt/3080 10gb or less, isn't a deal at this stage. Even premium cards like 6900xt/3080 12gb should be sub $7/fps.

    • Then I'm glad I bought the 6900xt last week for $6.97 per frame
