Damn very good value, but the ticket item in store after negotiation is same price if i apple all discount with current prices online! sad!

  • How long does delivery on gift cards from shopback take?

  • +15

Just a reminder that you can only use 2 gift cards per transaction online, if you're buying a $$$ ticket item you might be better off purchasing the 10% off ultimate gift cards from Woolworths and then trying to negotiate price down in store

    • Looking at TV for under 1k. So the 10% ultimate would be best way?

      • +2

Depends. If you can negotiate that TV lower than what’s listed on TGG, then yes

If can’t, better to buy it online as:

        • you get 12% cashback at uncapped amount
        • still can use two gift cards at checkout
        • $80/ $120 store credit bonus
      • +1

At that price if the tv is already on special u might be better off buying 2 $100 ultimate gift cards and then paying online with 12% cashback

        • Hi. Donkcat, if I want to buy $2000 lg tv , what’s solution ? Cheers

          • +12

@tonytong: You really need to know what they will come down to in store.
$2000 at 12% cashback will return $216 cashback (cashback isn't paid on the GST component)
You could still use 2 gift cards online so you could just purchase a $2000 TGG giftcard from shopback at 3% off which will save you $60.
You could click and collect and get the $80 store credit
You could pay $1500 with TGG giftcard at 3% cashback from Shopback and pay the other $500 with Pay Pal pay in 4 for the $120 store credit

So looking at these options if you went the 2k giftcard at 3% and shopback you'd save $276
If you paid 1.5k Shopback giftcard at 3% and C&C and Pay Pal pay in 4 you'd save $261 and get $180 store credit

If you went in store and could even talk them down to $1800 and then used 18x 100 ultimate gift cards then you'd be paying $1620 for the tv which imo beats paying $1739 and getting $180 store credit.

Things to consider would be, can you actually obtain the ultimate gift cards to the amount you require (you'll need multiple transactions to do this).
Personally consider the store credit a bonus but don't count on it, many people have had TGG not honor the store credit and the customer support the chase this up is hopeless. Furthermore the store credit has an extremely short window you can use it (1 week)
            Hope this helps.

@donkcat: Thank you, sir. You are so professional!

        • +1

Think you can omlu use 1 ultimate gift card and numerous good guys gift cards.

          • +1

@Jono258: You are spot on, I forgot you can't exchange physical ultimate for online TGG gift card

        • Follow up on this, I forgot that you can't exchange ultimate gift cards for TGG giftcards so this method won't work.

          • @donkcat: Home card can be swapped for TGG. Check out the 10% off deal again.

            • +1

@MiscOzB: My understanding is the old Home cards (with the eftpos symbol on back) can be exchanged for a TGG gift card.
But the new ones can't, they take you to a portal where TGG aren't 1 of the few retailers that you can exchange to.

              • @donkcat: I can see TGG advertised on the front of the Home card in the catalogue (page 39).

                • +2

@MiscOzB: Yes thats right, you can use them in store, online you can only use 1 as you are using it as a payment option so can only use at $100 or less

                  • +1

@donkcat: I see now, thanks. I was actually thinking of the TCN Home cards which can still be exchanged for TGG gift cards (I exchanged a couple just the other day).

      • +2

        Facebook marketplace is usually cheaper

  • +3

FYI - the banner on CR doesn’t mention of any cap. My assumption would be it’s uncapped

Edit: it doesn’t say anywhere it excludes Nintendo Switch OLED consoles
TGG is currently selling it for $449. Stack with this 12% cashback and the bonus store credit for C&C

    Double yummy

  • thats pretty darn good

Looks like you can get credit if click and collect too https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/features/eofy-sale

    • Thanks, updated

  • +2

No cap? Can buy 10,000 TV XD?

  • Thanks Op. Do u think i'll still be eligible for the bonus store credit if i use a couple of giftcards then pay the rest by paypal?

    • +3

Bonus Store Credit if their qualifying transaction is paid in full using PayPal Pay in 4 at the time of Checkout.

If it isnt paid in full with PayPal Pay in 4, you'd get the lesser amount.

      • $40 with C&C order between $300-$499
      • $80 with C&C order $500+
  • After a 5kw split system, Fujitsu $1799 or panasonic $1649-1749?

I have 4 Panasonic's all within 2-3 years old. It has nano air purifier. Only 2 brands do this.
      I would buy Panasonic again

    • Not sure if you'd be eligible but just in case you are I thought I'd bring this offer to your attention, https://www.heatingupgrades.vic.gov.au/ we've just applied for ours so can't tell you how good it is. We received our code straight away.

From T&C's of TGG bonus store credit:
    5) All Bonus Store Credits will expire within seven (7) days of the Credit Dispatch Date (July
    14, 2022).

    • +3

That's such rubish only giving a week to spend it.

  • Would it work with part payment online and rest paid instore would u still be eligible for cashback?

  • My partner wants to get a pair of XM4s, was thinking if I can possibly price match PCbyte for 369, then use 2 $100 giftcards purchased at 8% cashback, stacked with the 12% cashback, would bring it down to $308.72? With $60 store credit on top?

    $200 in gift cards at 8% cashback = $184
    369 with 12% cashback = $324.72
    16% cashback from GC = $308.72

    Am I missing anything?

    • Can only do the auto price beat online right?

Also Cashback is only on gst exc. Amount

      • What do you mean by gst exc. Amount?

        • Price x (10/11x(1-cashback%)+1/11)
          =Price x (10/11x0.88+1/11)
          =Price x 0.891

          • @justtoreply: @justtoreply: The formula can be simplified as follows:

            Price × (1−Cashback%÷1.1)
            = Price × (1−0.12÷1.1)
            ≈ Price × (1−0.109)
            ≈ Price × 0.891

To calculate just the cashback, the simplified formula is:

            Price × Cashback%÷1.1
            = Price × 0.12÷1.1
            ≈ Price × 0.109

Note that the 0.109 values above are the actual "true" GST inc cashback rate (10.9%).

    • No dice. How after you going to price match and go through the online ordering system?

    • +1

Normally cashback isn't paid on goods that are priced matched or negotiated online (they link you to a different portal to do the transaction which means cashrewards don't get the affiliate click).
Also keep in mind the $5 bonus on the $100 shopback gift card can only be claimed once per account.
And cashback isn't paid on the GST component.

      • Ahh dang I forgot about it taking you through another portal. I guess even without pricematch it'll still come down to around $332 ish with $60 credit.

      • Good to know. Almost used this on a purchase

  • I can buy gift card and and get 12% cash back !??

    • +2

      No.

      Cashrewards Special Terms

Cashback is ineligible on Apple, ASKO, Miele, AEG, Neff, Bertazzoni, FFalcon, La Germania, Loewe, Playstation 5, Playstation 5 Digital Edition, Xbox Series X 1TB, gift card purchases, negotiated deals (phone/email/chat), purchases via The Good Guys Commercial website, home services, concierge, delivery, GST.
Cashback is eligible on redemption of gift cards.
Cashback may be ineligible if using codes not listed on Cashrewards.
You must return and click through from Cashrewards every time you make a new transaction/purchase.

    • As described in the OP you can buy gift cards with 8% cashback from Shopback, then use them to make purchases and still qualify for 12% cashback on the purchases you make by clicking through Cashrewards.

      • +3

Don't be fooled 8% is is only on $100.
        3% +$5.
It's only 3% on anything else.

  • With the 12% cashback and 8% gift card combo, the Breville Barista Express is only $485 and if you choose click & collect there is another $80 store credit. A pretty good deal.

    • It does actually say cash back is eligible on redemption of gift cards. Damn that’s new but still up to the store whether they honour that or not

      • Yes that is why I said you can use buying 8% cashback gift card combo with spending gift cards and still eligible for 12% cashback.

        • Yep just surprised CR is doing that now - which is great. Only just picked up my Breville on Wednesday which was about 507 after 10% sale and SB cash back

          • @jadamd: It is not the first time. Sometimes TA specifically states using gift cards as payment method is eligible for cashback.

        • +1

isnt the 8% giftcard only on the first 100 - 1 x $5 bonus then the rest are only 3%?

wish there was a way to bundle all the ultimate gift cards into 1 giftcard so could use them all online.

          • @kingyone: Hm.. I have not verified this myself but simply use the description in the OP. When I got into ShopBack for TGG gift card could only see 3% cashback instead of 8%. If that is the case maybe click & collect using PayPal pay in 4 is a better option?

    • Apparently only 2 gift cards can be used online tho?

    • +2

      599 - 12% cashback - 3% gift card cashback from Shopback - $5 bonus from Shopback - $80 Good Guys store credit

      599 - ((599 / 1.1 ) * 0.12) - 599 * 0.03 - 5 - 80 = $430, not $405.

I wouldn't risk gift cards either as you're possibly saving $23 but getting stuck with Good Guys store credit should the machine be dead on arrival and you want a refund. A replacement machine could possibly invalidate the 12% cashback per Cashrewards T&C (although this is ambiguous) as the order may be refunded and repurchased as two new transactions as part of the replacement process. If you pay with cash, at least a machine arriving dead allows you to take your cash and wait for another deal elsewhere to repurchase.

  • Make sure you have your email set to receive marketing materials as a user wasn't able to receive the store credit from the last mother's day promo.

  • So can I use gift cards and still get cashback?

    • +1

Cashback is eligible on redemption of gift cards

  • What to do, here i am with 40 x $100 ultimate home gift cards to buy a TV. And this comes out.

  • Anyone know if this will work with Microsoft Surface? thanks

  • +1

Thanks OP. But I wish people wouldn’t cite gift cards as being available at x% where x requires a one-time bonus that could be used on any number of other things as well.

    • well that shopback deal is expired too

  • I got tempted to buy the new Sony WH-1000XM5 with this offer but then realised, I could get it for only $418.20 delivered from the Sony Australia online store with the Cashrewards 10% cashback and the Amex get $75 back on $500+ spend offer - see here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/707170

    • +1

Don't have a Amex card so the best for me is to get this offer with PayPal Pay in 4 + C&C to get $120 store credit.

  • Ideal timing, about to order a new oven, this will save me from going in store and negotiating to the same price.

  • -2

    $80 with C&C order $500+
    $120 with PayPal Pay in 4 C&C order $500+

Can I get $80+$120 if I use pay in 4 and Click and collect?

  • Thanks. Just placed an order for the Panasonic ub820 and the cashback was tracked instantly.

  • Fairly new to Cashrewards- can anyone tell me if this product is eligible for the 12% cash back?

    Hello everyone,
Could someone please help me find a bargain on Dyson Stick vacuum please?
I am lost with so many models to choose from. Budget $500 max.

  • Thanks OP. Was going to by a Dyson vaccuum today, so scored it with 12% CR and a $120 voucher. Nice.

  • Anyone knows why the HOME gift card is not working on TGG webiste?

Sorry, we are unable to process your gift card at the moment. Please try again later or visit your nearest store to complete your transaction.

    • getting the same error

wonder if normal shopback ones working?

      • i checked on the card network website. You need to swap to TGG voucher

        • I am still getting the same error even after swapping. Think carefully before swapping gift card.

          • @jamba: my 10 shopback is working now, give yours a crack

        • i've got the ultimate HOME version and cant swap.
dont want to get stuck with shopback one if that is not even working

          • @kingyone: Mine swapped ok.

            • @jamba: ultimate you dont seem able to swap TGG are not an option. looks like they are meant to be enter as CC details and not a gift card.
I tried a 10 shopback voucher and get the same error so gift card purchases seem broken atm

    • i'm getting the same error…

The ultimate cards work as a debit card with money in it, you can only spend it online by getting the final amount be less than the value of the card or the exact same amount that is on the card.

In-store they can split payments to use multiple cards but online, you can only pay once.

I worked this out when I was trying to buy food from Menulog using ultimate eats gcs.

Either that or you can try to swap for a gc for that specific store.

      • +1

        Oh i see, thanks.
I went to TGG store and they refused to transact/swap it for a goodguys gift card.

        • If you read replies above, apparently there’s a way to swap them online.

  • You would be losing out if you use the gift card from shopback wouldn't you?

Say I use the $100 gift card from shopback on a $150 item. I would be getting 12% back on $50 = $6 + the $8 from shopback gift card =$14

    or don't use the gift card i get %12 back on $150 = $18

or does cashrewards not take into account any gift cards you use??

    • i think it doesn't matter for this promotion how you pay - cashback is on total except GST portion.

  • Anyone recommend which heater to buy?

    • Ceramic heaters are what everyone seems to be saying are the best now

  • dji not excluded - dji mini 3 pro with rc $1040 after cashback

    • How did you get it from 1299 to 1040, I can’t do click and collect in sydney with PayPal pay in 4

      • yeah sorry its 1157 after cashback and i was counting the 120 paypal credit which i shouldnt have

    • Goddamn why the F did I not get an email alert for this until today

      • i didnt buy one hence i didnt post it, i think there will be a much better deal soon
