About this item

  • New Pokémon to Discover - Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet will have many never-before-seen Pokémon waiting to meet you.
  • The World of Pokémon Has Evolved - You can experience a new style of adventure, with a world that you’re free to explore at your leisure and not in an order dictated by the story. You will, of course, journey to hone your skills as a Pokémon Trainer, but many more discoveries and stories await you. Meet a variety of people and Pokémon, and adventure in the world of Pokémon the way you want to.
  • A Deeper Experience with Multiplayer Gameplay - Along with series staples, such as trading and battling Pokémon, you will be able to explore the various locations of the region in these games with other players. You can discover new Pokémon and explore unfamiliar areas with your friends and family, opening the door to an adventure more precious and fun than ever!
  • As the main character, you can explore a wide-open world at your own pace, and can encounter the Legendary Pokémon Koraidon.
  • Choose either Sprigatito, the Grass Cat Pokémon, Fuecoco, the Fire Croc Pokémon, or Quaxly, the Duckling Pokémon to be your first partner Pokémon before setting off on your journey through this new region.

  • Does this come with 1 cartridge or 2? Thinking of getting two copies to play with my partner

    • +3

Should be one of each game on separate cartridge.

  • +2

These better not suck or I'm giving up all hope for the franchise.

The horse has been dead since X/Y.

    • +6

I really enjoyed the Ruby/Saphire remakes tbh. S/M isn't as exciting though

      • +1

Forgot about them. They were ok, not great just like the originals. But yeah, still much better than everything since.

    • +2

I know right. I had a lightbulb moment in Sword I think when there was some explosion and some character said "oh we'll deal with this it's too dangerous, you go and catch Pokémon". I was like UHHH why is the NPC doing the storyline without me? and then I basically stopped playing.

    • -7

      These games look (profanity) terrible.

I can't imagine spending $134 on a preorder for them.

    • The last 10 Pokemon games sucked, why shouldn't this one too.

  • +2

Not sure if pre-ordering any more is a good option as these games seem to get discounted fairly quickly.

    • +1

It's Nintendo. It'll drop in price slowly.

      • +1

And the price of old Pokemon games eventually goes above RRP.

    • Quickly drop to $50 after first month and remained stable for another 6 months till clearance for $40.
Good enough compared to Galaxy flagships.

    • Amazon and JB have lowest pricr guarantee.

Drop in a preorder and end up paying lowest price between now and launch.

Set and forget type of deal, and pay lowest price. Easy

      • Both of those will not price match Ebay and Catch deals with codes
Most of the Nintendo new game deals have been on these platforms

    • For Steelbook, that's fine.

  • Pre Ordered at EB, gonna check if they price match.

    • +2

I called my local store and they said they will only price match on release day.

However I pre ordered with them and did some trade ins with 60% trade in bonus (im a level 3) and on the day of release I can still get a price match.

EB Games might get a pre order bonus other stores don't so maybe do the pre order with them and it if no bonus then you can always cancel.

      • Thanks! I did that 50% bonus trade too. Will try pm on that day, if not, I guess still good with that 50% credit.

      • I've fully paid off my pre-order. Will they just refund the difference on launch day?

        • I think they will the created under your account by moving it onto a different pre order item.

      • +1

Every store's policy is different. You will find some stores only price match stores in the same shopping complex, e.g. for most it'd be JB Hifi, unless Big W has it in stock at the time and it happens to be in the same complex.

I do note the above is inconsistent across stores.

        • Yeah I never been able to for sales but have never tried on pre order b4. I guess no harm trying, nvrtheless still good deal for me with the bonus trade.

      • i traded in bunch of 3ds games come with my second hand 3ds purchase, and games i bought $2 each from target. comes out they worth over $110 with only level 3.eb world. i won't order from eb if i don't have games to trade. 20% off gift card always make JB my favoruite.

        • What games did you trade?

          • @SpeedRunnerLink: luigi's mansion 2
            street flighter 3D
            animal crossing happy home designer
            nioh 2
            Star Wars: Squadrons
            Bayonetta + Vanquish x2

            • @ce5himm: That's not bad actually

              • @SpeedRunnerLink: Considering nioh 2/ stars war are $2 each from target. I am happy with it. Could sell a little bit more in private. But for the extra time, trade in is much easier.

                • @ce5himm: That's really good deal. I can hardly find anything under $5 in sydney, usually all hoard to store when it drops to $20. I was lucky to find a copy of COD Cold War for $10 in Target Burwood a couple weeks ago and that's it.

    • From my experience they rarely price match. When I tried a while back they would only price match with a store that's in the same shopping centre.

  • +5

These last couple of games have really put me to sleep, I keep finding myself back to gen three and four.

    • The series went downhill after gen 1.

  • +3

Man, it's kinda depressing that Nintendo are still clinging to the "same game twice" sales model nearly 30 years later. Especially when you also have to pay a subscription to play online in order to trade and battls

    • I read recently that originally you were going to be able to buy all the Pokemon with in game currency instead of trading - I cannot remember the reason why it didn't work.

While that would have been nice back in the day (rather than relying on the trade element), I'd be worried what that would mean in this day and age of in game transactions.

      • Back in the day there was actually a limit to how much money you can earn in the game. But no limit how much you can spend (e.g. on ultra balls and potions). So there were points where you could run out of money. Probably why. Recent games it's not an issue as you can just re-battle the elites for more $$.

        • In gen 1 at least you could just use the Missingno glitch :)

        • +2

The Elite Four can be rematched since Gen I so there was no limit on how much money your can earn.

There is a limit on how much your can hold which was 999,999 and was increased to 9,999,999 in Gen V.

  • -1

I thought this was trading cards at first.

  • ordered, thanks op

  • +1

If I have already pre-ordered this with Amazon back on announcement, do I get it at this lower price? Or was it always this price?

    • +2

Preorder price guarantee, you pay whatever the cheapest price was during the preorder period.
Check your order, it will show $134 as the price regardless of when you placed it. (It wasn't always this price)

  • with Amazon preorder do you only pay once delivery is sent like with other items? Or will they charge you now?

    • +3

Amazon only charges at the time of shipping

      • And wont receive on day of release, made that mistake, ordered a game that was released on a Friday, did not play it till Tuesday.

        • +2

I don't like ordering items like these from Amazon.

they tend to throw it loosely in the delivery box and ends up being banged up on arrival.

If you're a collect I'd rather do a pick up or order from Big W as they take a bit more care in their packaging.

        • +2

Not sure why you’re being downvoted, Gandalf - I stopped preordering Nintendo games from them because the Friday releases I wanted to play over the weekend always rocked up the following Tuesday.

  • +1

Perfect anti-inflationary "alternative investment" item here

    • +1

Is it though? Seems to be very common everywhere, unlike Xenoblade's.

  • +1

Any one know if this set would come with the 2 regular game cases + the steel book or is it just the cartridges + steel book?
Would prefer the regular ones to fit in with the collection and just have the steel book as a bonus.

    • +2

From previous experience you get all 3.

    • +1

Got gifted a previous steel book edition and you received steel book+game+original box but that was only for a single copy, wonder if you get a combo box like with Fire Emblem Fates

  • +2

    Now $128

    • yes. can see my order has also been revised to $128
