Celsius RK1 Half Rack $349 (Was $449) + $99.99-$149.99 Shipping or Free Click & Collect @ Rebel

370

Was looking for a cheap half rack for my garage gym. Already have a full power cage in my outdoor gym. Cbf dismantling and reassemble inside for the colder months.

Seems like an okay price for a half rack from a reputable source. Quite readily available in southside Brisbane from what I can see.

$99 may break the deal for most though. I can’t find any free shipping codes.

  • Odd setup for squats/deadlifts

    • +3

      Squats look ok

Deadlifts well I just want somewhere to rack the barbell for swapping plates

      • +9

I never rack to put plates for a dead lift . I usually use a tool at the gym to prop each side up a bit while it’s on the floor and put the plates on.

You want to go straight up and down in a safe motion when doing dead lifts .

Not a good idea to lift it off a rack and then take a step back for a dead lift especially at heavy weights

Haha dang I was doing exactly this at gym at my peak when I was deadlifting 160kg for 5 reps.

These days just do 50kg for extended reps. The days of 2hr sessions 6 days a week, intermittent fasting and calorie tracking are over for me.

        • +7

Luckily I can't lift heavy enough for this to be a genuine concern

        • +1

I go to a powerlifting gym and never see anyone racking for deadlifts, unless you're only doing like 60kg or something

          • +1

            @IdBuyThat4aDollar: Exactly this.

Just roll one end of the loaded plates up on a fractional/flat bit of wood. Far easier than involving a squat rack.

Swinging around 160kgs, even for heavy lifters, is a pretty bad idea. Even if you can do 5 reps, you don’t want to be pulling anything other than straight up with it. So easy to twist…. and pop.

        • Exactly what I meant

          • @Herb Utsmellz: But u don't even need a rack for conventional deadlifts. Just a barbell and full size plates.
            https://youtu.be/C-cwyf2K_LU

This rack would be fine for basic home setup for squats, military press maybe even bench press if the safety rails go low enough and u have a bench

        • +1, a jack or similar makes more sense unless you're dead lifting 1 plate

    • Just curious, why all the talk about deadlifts? I don't see anything in the description (here, or on rebelsport.com.au), nor photos, about deadlifts. Squats sure. But deadlifting is kinda N/A for this I would think  Is it mentioned somewhere on the product?

      • +1

Yep, no good for deadlifts… probably no good for star jumps either…

      • I’m not sure why someone mentioned deadlifts . You don’t need a rack for it .

Only time I use a rack is for bench .

Even for Squats I don’t use a big rack like that, just two stands is enough and if I hit failure ( which I rarely do) I let it drop behind me .

  • Do you lift bro?

    • +26

Sure I lift - the contents of my zinger box to my mouth :’(

      • How many repeatitions?

        • +1

When you get to the almost end of that large Mountain Dew and staring at the extra 10 wicked wings you got as a chaser and you’re like, dang I’m pretty full - you gotta just push through it, son. Mama didn’t raise no quitter. Pushing yourself to the limit is the key to success.

@Jimothy Wongingtons: I bring up a few David Goggins motivational videos in those moments. Leaving that potato and gravy behind is not an option. Nobody gets left behind!

this actually looks identical to the one aldi sells during their special saturdays. Different colour but identical otherwise.

    • I’ve never seen ALDI sell this but might keep an eye out

    • Yeah very similar to the Aldi one I got a year and a half ago. Small differences in colour and the chrome items. Been outside in the rain all the time, minor rusting build up on the chrome bits and around nuts. Otherwise good rack and cheaper than this, but tends to go fast when on sale at Aldi as people run in when the doors open to grab one.

    • +1

Yerp very similar to the ALDI set. Happened to grab the ALDI set last night on clearance for $81 =]

      • absolute steal

      • Where about's - there's been one sitting in my Aldi for weeks and I've asked to make an offer a few times. Just need to check if it's the same one :) ?

Get a rogue to avoid having racks collapsing on you

    • +10

Nothing wrong with this one. Rogue just breaks your wallet instead

    • +5

      Rogue?

      On my salary?

      Bruhhh

Ps I didn’t neg u but just because you’re paying $$$$$$ for rogue doesn’t automatically make everything else crap - though that being said there is a lot of crap unsafe setups like the ‘power towers’ for like $150 as seen on eBay/kogan marketplace that literally ROCK back and forth at the second you attempt a dip or even bump into it.

    • If it isn't anchored to the floor any rack is going to be susceptible to rocking depending on the weight being put up

  • Now I feel like having a half rack of ribs..

    • +2

      Me 5.

Half rack of ribs, herbed fries, 6 pack of Brookvale union ginger beer, and vanilla icecream with apple pie for dessert.

  • +5

Similar one here for under $300, and shipping is only $30 odd.

    • +2

      Actually yeah doesn’t look bad!

      • +7

And then this one for about same price, but has a 500kg weight rating (200kg more than OP's one).

        https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/115063073172?hash=item1aca4b2994…

Sorry to hit your bargain man… but it's only because I was looking at these not too long ago.
        Rebel's "sales" are rarely sales.

        • +3

No don’t be sorry - I only spotted this as was looking for cheap options and this seemed to get good feedback last time it was posted here lol

  • How high is it? I hate those dwarf chin up bars where you need to chin up on your knees. I was even trying to find a proper one but could not at a reasonable price point.

    • Everything is dwarf for the over 6ft tall man

      • All of the park ones and most of the gym ones are say 1.60-1.80cms. But if you want to actually hang and extend you need to add your hands to your height. So, it only works properly for a 7 year old or a dwarf.

WA customers can also get the same/similar from Flex Fitness and pick up for free
    https://www.flexequipment.com.au/armortech-squat-rack-pk41

    • I 500% will recommend flex fitness - very good transaction and customer service for the adjustable bench I got off them.

  • When I saw half rack, my first reaction was to see if it was pork or beef.

  • These are pretty bad. They are flimsy, tip easily if you don’t anchor them, are useless for a bunch of stuff, have weird hole spacing. But the biggest issue is the tiny space to lift in.

You are far better off with a decently made half rack that takes spotter arms. Gym Direct has one for like $375

    • At this rate with such feedback I’d prob drop another $800 for a full rack lmao - even if gym direct were very annoying to deal with, the price and product is pretty okay. Unfortunately they’ve disabled the old TRADE discount code for further 10% off haha.

      • +1

The problem is that you look at full racks and start thinking ‘maybe I just need to get something with twin cables’, then ‘changing weights is a pain, maybe I need pin loaded stacks’ and then ‘well I’m already spending so much, may as well get a forge g20’.

        The slippery slope to gainz.

        • +2

          That’s how I originally started.

I only need a basic rack.

Dang it would be good to have a multi grip pull-up bar integrated.

Dang it would be good to have a lat pull down option.

Dang it would be good to also integrate dips.

          … yeah

  • None of these look ok for also benching?

I wouldn't mind a half rack, but I also like it to be easy to do my chest workouts

    • Just curious, why would this make it difficult to do chest workouts?

      • Just thought it looked like it's too high, but obviously if the bench was in there it would be ok to do flat bench

  • This looks identical to the Aldi one they’ve been selling for the last 6 years, just different colours on some parts.

Basic but works fine (think Aldi was cheaper than this)

  • Thanks OP but I don't want to get too hench.

  • Is there one with the whole kit and kaboodle?

    i.e. Rack, bench, bar/weights?

    • Best off getting the components yourself according to what you require imo

  • I'm looking for a squat rack for home setup, Olympic barbell, bench and plates. Won't be doing any exercises over 150-200kg I'd imagine. Also won't be anchoring the rack. Anyone have recommendations? I was looking at Force USA OR one of the racks from one of the many local sites. Budget total for setup around 1.5k-2k.

  • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons giving you an upvote, not for the bargain but because you seem like class act my man.

  • Hey if I want something purely for pullups, and don't want those door extender ones to mess around with doors or their frames, what's a cheap alternative to this?

  • 200kg weight limit…

    • +1

If you can lift more than 200kg… or weigh more than 200kg for the pull-ups then yeah… this prob isn’t for you…

  • What do you use for your full rack outdoors? How does it hold up to the elements?

    • +1

      https://gymdirect.com.au/products/power-rack-with?variant=49…

Not well lol it’s only semi covered. Surface rust everywhere but not really structurally an issue. I could clean it down but would be a 1 day job for sure

      • Have cleaned my power rack and weights from being outdoors for 2 years. It will take more than 1 day.

        • Haha my worst fear. I did read online you can also dismantle and do a vinegar solution and soak overnight then it’s not so bad but ain’t no one got time to pull it apart, clean and reassemble

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Mine was rusted real bad. Pulled apart and soaked in dozens of litres of vinegar/water solution. The problem was finding containers big enough to soak barbells/big weights etc. If not, had to soak paper towels in the solution and wrap the metal with them but this was much less effective than soaking in the solution itself. Huge mess and still a lot of effort scrubbing, drying and repainting after. If I were to do it again I would definitely just buy a whole new setup. Not worth the effort.

      • Thanks for that. Was hoping there was something for outdoors. Tried to look a couple of years back but could only find really expensive stuff from the US. I wonder if I paid to get it all powder coated and then got stainless steel bolts if that would work.

        • I thought the same thing but powdercoat if scratched/broken will result in corrosion underneath too.

Very regular cleaning and protection with 3-in-1 oil or similar would be the go if you care about appearance. Structurally not really a drama I rkn. The steel is quite thick.

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Yeah true. Same with anything I guess. Not sure my missus would allow me to have a full cage in our small backyard anyway
