Duracell CR2032 Lithium Coin Batteries 20 Pack $19.99 Delivered @ Costco Online (Membership Required)

500

Usually $39.99, Costco online have taken $20 off the price. Maybe a few too many for a lot of people. Maybe can split the pack with others? Don't know the expiry of these. Maybe if you aren't happy with the expiry when you get them you can just take them back to the store?? I'm going to take a chance on these and split the pack with family. Sick of eBay ones that go flat as soon as you put them in.

These Duracell lithium coin batteries have long-lasting power, and are made from superior materials with an exceptional battery design. They offer reliable and efficient power for devices like key fobs, remote controls, and thermometers, and they contain no mercury. The child secure packaging helps avoid accidental opening—it can only be opened with scissors.

Warning: Keep batteries out of reach of children and in original package until use. Do not swallow. If swallowed, seek medical attention immediately. Ingestion may lead to serious injury or death. Battery may explode or leak if heated, disassembled, shorted, recharged, exposed to fire, or inserted incorrectly. Not suitable for use with children under 5 years of age.

If you suspect your child has swallowed or inserted a button battery immediately call the 24 hour Poisons Information Centre on 13 11 26 for fast, expert advice.

Edit: Got off the phone with Member care and the lady I spoke to said if I wasn't happy with the expiry I could return it as part of their change of mind policy. You have 90 days in which to return it.

Edit 2: Just got mine in the mail. Production date 04-2020, Expiry 04-2030. Hope everyone gets something similar! : )

Thanks, my 20 remote fobs all went flat at the same time, this will come in handy!

  • Thanks OP

Is there a way to see the expire date?

    • I don't think so. A quick look on google suggests these batteries should have a shelf life of 10 years? Then I guess it depends on when they were made. Costco have been pretty good with returns and such. I would say you would have a few years at least. How many years do you think is acceptable? I'm wondering myself…

They said they couldn't tell me the expiry but said if I wasn't happy I could return it as part of their a change of mind return policy. You have 90 days to return it to a store.

    • Mine was 04-2030

I have a whole bunch left over from the last SCA deal - PM me if you want me to send you some batteries (max 2 per person)

    • Why did you buy so many if you didn't need them?

      • +1

Cos you can only buy them in a pack of 10? Why are you so judgmental?

        • -1

So because you can only buy them in a pack of 10 that is the reason you bought lots of packs of 10?

          • +2

@4foxache: Who says I bought multiple packs of 10? Jumping to conclusions much?

          • +2

@4foxache: And what business is it of yours if I decide to buy 10 packs of 10 to power 100 remote controls, or to give away to people on OzBargain, or broden on eBay?

            • +1

@inasero: You missed the point… buy only what you need and leave the rest for everyone else. What is the logic behind injecting yourself unnecessarily into the battery requirements of other people? You're just creating a supply problem by having been greedy in the first place… and to be honest this sort of behaviour is why we had a Toilet Paper shortage! Nuff nuff stuff

              • -1

@4foxache: "injecting yourself unnecessarily into the battery requirements of other people" - isn't that what you're doing? Hypocrite

      • ozbargain slogan: buy now, worry later!

  • If you want these for AirTags they might not work

    https://www.macrumors.com/2021/07/28/airtag-replacement-batt…

    • I'm not sure if these have that on them but it is something to look out for. It's something I was hoping was on the batteries but there is no indication on the packet that these have the special coating.

    • -3

Children are smart enough to press and twist the airpod to open to get the battery, but stupid enough to swallow the battery.

Mmm, makes sense. More likely, parent places battery on bench very young child eats. Bad parent!

Tell me you don't have kids without telling me you don't have kids

        • So what you're telling me is I need to market airtag condoms, so you have to de-key-ring them before you can open them.

        • Right????

        • -1

what the fling are you talking about?

explain how my comment means I don't have have kids?

are your kids stupid? do they swallow without thinking?

      • Supposedly kids can push the batteries out of the packets too. Apparently these batteries can't be removed from the packet without scissors.

        • +2

I agree. Got a packet of 8 of these same batteries a couple of days back and it was hard to get one out even with the scissors. They are definitely well packaged.

    • Erm, is there any resource that explains this more scientifically?

Ive been doing low voltage electrical designs for a long time, and I cant figure out how on earth this would make a difference.

  • Hopefully these are available in-store for less. I will check during my visit tonight.

    • Can you please post a reply someone in here if you see them in-store? I'd love to be able to just pop in for stuff like this but Costco is a day out for us. It's pretty far away.

      • +3

Yes of course, that was my intention.

        • Thanks :D

          • +1

@ozbs25: Auburn store did not have any :(

            • @Pecan: I've never seen them in store but was cautiously hoping that they changed that.

Thanks for checking. I'll probably try one of the stores in Brisbane towards the end of the week.

there AA and AAA leak all the time… certainly these won't?

    • +1

I'm confused. Where are you talking about?

      • Duracell AA and AAA batteries leak and just saying hopefully their button batteries don't

        • +1

          Oh, right, sorry.
My mind got hung up on 'there vs their' and 'certainly vs hopefully'.

I wasnt trying to be a dick, sorry.
I was actually confused how a location made such a certain difference. Clear now.

    • I hope not. Didn't know coin batteries could leak but yes, we've had an awful time with their AA and AAA batteries.

Apparently Lithium coin batteries can leak, but I've never seen one leak. Maybe someone who knows a bit more about them can comment? I couldn't find a good explanation about it.

      • Over the years I've had some aliexpress button cells have issues. They don't leak like alkaline batteries though - it's more corrosion appearing at the seal between the positive and negative parts of the battery, so I suspect if the cell is made to better tolerances this would be even less of an issue.

    • yup, Glad to hear it just wasnt me. I have lost so many duracell AA / AAAs to leaks. Its the most annoying thing and also damaging when it leaks in your devices.

      • yes bloody remotes stop working and the green stuff stinks

  • They could be clearing them due to the packaging not meeting the new packaging requirements starting in a few weeks.
Given the sale price ends the 20/6 and the new standards start 22/6 this seams likely
    https://www.productsafety.gov.au/product-safety-laws/safety-…

    • You could be right. I wonder how strict these new rules are. Supposedly can't get these batteries out without scissors.

    • Always a possibility, although the image appears to show the latest 'child resistant' packaging that requires the use of scissors to cut around the packaging surrounding each individual battery….

    • I went to buy some the other day and was told at both Coles and Kmart that all the Duracell coin batteries had been recalled but not sure the reason. I managed to get some Energizer branded ones from Mister Minit though and they were $7.65 each!

    • It could just be that all packaging needs to come with really specific warnings/wording. I can't imagine them having to rework the packaging to make them even harder to get out. I think I do remember having to help my mum get a battery out of the pack as she couldn't do it herself.

  • +1

Wouldn't it just be easier to keep battery's out of kids reach. IF kids can get batterys they can get a knife/sissors.

All im seeing is alot of older people having issues with these packets which i presume some life support pendants ect use.

I buy a 4 pack of these and do my harley fobs every april when i do smoke alarms as new harleys dont use keys anymore ist the fob or pin number only

  • Anyone want to split a pack? I got the woolworths /Coles deal ones and they don't last a month in a sensor.

    • Yeah I'll transfer you $10 if you wanna buy it and ship a few down to Melbourne 🤣

    1. July a new child proof packaging is required. Unsold stocks will be dumped.
Reject stores amongst many others are worth checking out.
Generally they tend not to leak acid for 10 years + Many still retain 80% el capacity after 10 years.
  • Has anyone checked the in-store price?

    • Pecan checked out the Auburn store and couldn't find them. I've never seen them in-store but haven't looked recently. I was going to try to get there this week but haven't been able to.
