Normally comes at a premium for Telstra services, so quite a good offer in my opinion. Stay safe, and enjoy.

Hmm haven’t got my text yet.
Got the text this morning. Restarted the phone (moto edge 20), still there is no radio button to choose 5G in the network settings.
Any tips?
My wife got 5G but I immediately turned it off for her - mine hasn't come through yet.
Just got mine. It's fast.
Nothing here either.
5G phone, 5G area, $300 plan
Still waiting, for anyone in the same situation.
I am with Telstra prepaid, and have noticed I now have 5G on my phone. I ran a speed test and it's 1160mbps download and 112mbps upload. This is the fastest result I've ever seen
And it's prepaid! Got the $300 sim starter pack for like $200 from previous deals. That calculates to around $16/month!
very good deal!
I noticed the 5G on my phone before getting the text. Nice of Boost to give us this trial but what's the point of it if they are not going to include it after the trial ends? I see it more like a teaser especially if we have already prepaid for the service without 5G and now it's here. I am sure they will make a change $$$ to be able later on.
The only good thing I will benefit from this is to see where good 5G areas are. I got different speed tests ranging from 85 to 499mb which is a huge difference. Sadly, the 85mb is while tested from my house couch :(
Only works on phone with 5g access?
No. If you've been vaccinated you get 5G and Microsoft Windows free.
I got 5G access here in Bargara near Bundaberg a few days ago and my wife had it a week prior. Speedtest is consistently 235/30 Ping 24. I notice the server it connects to is usually Telstra Brisbane but today was Sunshine Coast, with no difference in results.
I don't use data much anyway as I'm connect to my home network at home - Optus wireless BB for the record - but I was on my beach walk over at Mon Repos yesterday and up loaded a 1 minute video there which usually struggles to upload over about 10-15 minutes on 4G but was up in no time yesterday on 5G.
TBH if there is added costs to use it after the trial I'll be giving it a miss. I'm/we due to renew 10th August so I'll see what happens in terms of costs and if too much we will move on, absolutely no loyalty to Telcomms companies from us.
No text here but noticed 5G was on today.
Wow a speed test uses like 1.4gb of data. At least it doesn't count to the quota!
wait! is 5g data free?
The speed test doesn't count
thanks, only with the ookla speedtest app or website ?
Just got it today in Hobart - 300 down, not bad at all.
Goodtimes. My S20FE 5G will finally be able to be put to its full use.
Got it. 250/30 in East Perth
14/18 in Perth City
686/82 in Western Adelaide on Mi note 9T 5G (on direct telstra)
Instead of 12-15 minutes across the network I got BTN for my class in five seconds.
Outside of that, I'm not sure when else I would need that speed.
No text, still 4G
Yet to get 5G
on 5g nice!
Anyone figured out how to get boost texts while in Europe? I get no signal but need to receive my texts.
Have you got roaming enabled?
I'm going to need the same thing to work at the end of this year, so let me know how you go.
I just realised i do not own a 5g device
'Trial' now runs to 28 November…
Let's hope that Telstra stops dicking around before that time and makes uncapped 5G permanent and free for Boost…
Just me, or are Boost asking for your physical address on signup now?
Given all the hacking that's been happening recently, that's a huge turnoff to keep in mind. Your full name, DOB, licence/passport/medicare details, email, and now your physical address? Couldn't be handing the hackers a juicer target. Why do they need your address anyway? I've not had any issues churning SIMs without ever being asked for a physical address.
Got this mail today:
From 4 April 2023, 5G network access will be included as standard on the Boost Prepaid Mobile plan on your below service, and we'll be introducing capped download speeds on our 4G and 5G networks on most recharges.
Here's what's changing:
• 5G will be included as standard on the Boost Prepaid Mobile plan. To access 5G you need a compatible 5G device.
• We are introducing capped download speeds to your 4G and 5G network access on most recharges.
• These changes will come into effect the first time you recharge from 4 April 2023.
• This change will not impact your voice and SMS.
What does my new capped download speed mean for me:
As all speed cap options are great for video streaming, browsing and social media, you should be able to continue doing what you usually do, and enjoy the same or similar mobile experience you do today. If you need to hot-spot multiple devices, or regularly transfer large files, you may benefit from uncapped download speeds.
Your new 5G enabled Boost Prepaid plan
Recharge Recharge Expiry Download speeds up to
$5-$15 7 days 150Mbps
$20-$40 28 days 150Mbps
$50 28 days 250Mbps
$70 28 days Uncapped
$100 6 months 150Mbps
$150-$300 12 months 150Mbps
Importantly the capped download speed on your recharge is the maximum potential download speed for included data. Typical speeds may often be slower and will vary due to factors including location, distance from the base station, local conditions, concurrent users, hardware and software configuration and download/upload destination.
What 's next?
You don't need to do a thing, and there's no change to your current recharge. Capped download speeds will take effect when you make your first recharge from 4 April 2023.
I was on a pre-paid 6 month Telstra plan through Telstra that had 5G. When it expired I renewed the plan for another 6 months which then dropped the connection down to 4G. I rang Telstra support who in the end told me there was an outage in my location that was causing the lack of 5G. I knew this was utter …. but let it slide. Was on 4G until this thing kicked in and now back on 5G.
The Telstra giveth and the Telstra taketh away.. Then giveth it back again.
