I have one of these and it isn't too bad. You get allot of surface area but not allot of depth, so you will struggle to cook a whole chicken unless you cut it in half if thats your thing. The good is I can pack in what feels like more fries into the tray but if you're using thin chips they can fall between the cut outs of the pan. Other than that it's pretty good in my opinion, Ive had mine for 3 months now.

    • thanks for the feedback, do you find it gets cooked underneath the meat as well, or do you need to toss it quite a bit?

When you're cooking it tells you maybe what feels like the 3/4 of the time to "Turn your food over" I dont usually do it with chips and it really depends I think on what you are cooking. But lets say for chips I usually just check it around the half way time and give it a shake and they always come out crispy and the bottom ones are cooked as well. I did butterfly some thick chicken breasts the other day crumbed it in panko bread crumbs and cooked one batch for 25 mins and i did the swap only to make sure that the crumbs were evenly cooked and it turned out fine. The second batch i cooked it without turning and to be honest I didn't see a difference! I did put a tiny bit of oil as well just to get the crumbs crispy. Oh and it does have a like a "Heatup" option built in before it tells you to put in your food, but I am lazy I just put it from when I start it :)

        • That's great to know, thanks for the reply!

  • Instant Pot, sign me up.

  • Thanks Op for the deal and providing the link to YouTube review. Purchased!

  • I much prefer the oven style one

    https://www.amazon.com.au/Instant-Vortex-Fryer-Stainless-Sil…

Having had the basket type before the oven style is much more useful and it does a really amazing rotisserie chicken. It does take up more room but the cooking is much more even, much easier to clean and food isn't sitting on top of each other like in the basket.

    • The above review says they suck.

      • Well, I've had mine for more than 18 months and it has been fabulous.

  • We have the larger Instant Pot vortex and it does not suck.

  • Thanks, got one. Been waiting for this for a while!

Got same day delivery and used it. Perfect upgrade from what I had!

    • Been thinking of pulling the trigger but my $50 mistral one is still going strong after 2 years. May I know what you had before?

It was the first air fryer Aldi sold in Australia:

        https://www.productreview.com.au/listings/aldi-ambiano-digit…

The LCD display started to go at around the 1 year mark and printed icons on the unit all came off after a few wipes but she has/is been going strong since day 1 but being only 3L (big? maybe the only size available at the time) we have out grown her. Still not sure what to do with her so she sits on the floor a few meters away from me…

        • Instant pot has great reviews. I might just buy it. Waiting for my mistral to die but I guess not happening anytime soon lol
