Still happy with my BPC 299 deal

  • Reviews seem to be mixed regarding the quality, same story on the Amazon page. Common theme is bad build quality

    • I've used these for like 2ish years now. I'm onto my second pair, first was replaced as it started to crack where the earcups are connected to the headband. The new set I got seemed to be a different and much better build quality to the first, so far so good 12 months on since replacement.

    • Had mine for 4 years now, and they’ve been great. Used as a daily driver all pandemic working from home, plus gaming on ps4/5/pc over that time. No issues.

    • Given this is the same price as the Audeze Penrose, I'd suggest you go with the planar if you have to spend today.

Some have signal issues due to how Audeze tried to maximize bandwidth and quality for the connection, but most fixed it by repositioning the dongle, including using an extension lead to position it above/below PC level.

But overall, there's a good argument to wait for updated Bluetooth, though it's been an excruciatingly slow wait due to covid and delays finalising the spec.

If you can't, consider some of the $100-$150 sale options to get a good basic experience, as you're not getting double the feature set or audio quality with anything Corsair, Sennheiser or SteelSeries are producing right now (and probably forever for the gaming brands without outsourcing the entire design).

Hyper X Cloud Flight, SteelSeries Arctis 7, Corsair Virtuoso would be the options in that lower price bracket.

    • I sold mine. For the price, they weren't worth it. I think I paid $450 for them. Sold them on to someone's whose broke out of warranty. My biggest issue was the creaking. Any time I feel like I moved my head or my jaw, they creaked. I feel like for the price, they shouldn't make any noise other than what they're being directed to make by the source.

I'm currently using the ath-gdl3 when I need a microphone as I prefer open back and have been happy with them.

As someone who owns these headsets I've been using my wired ones more than these. The battery life isn't as good and the charging takes forever. The only good thing about these is that they're light on the head.

    • +2

      It comes with two batteries

    • +3

Easily getting 15 odd hours on the battery on this still, 4 years in too. Swapping battery takes 5 seconds, and is always fully charged when i swap again.

    • +1

One of (if not the only) headphones on the market that can switch out batteries; and in seconds at that.

What are you even complaining about?

  • +1

Check stock and it's Delivered by 1 August. So get it cheap and wait two months?

This was on sale through bpc $299 recently and the deal was posted on here

  • Clearing stock of this model out so they can justify the $649 price of the successor (which I'll be buying because I'm a total sucker)

That's up in proper mid-fi headphone pricing territory…

They had B&O help with the model but B&O are known for speakers, not headphones. Their past releases have varied from mediocre to crap.

Another gimmicky release, though it might hint towards upcoming Bluetooth quality from a signal and processing perspective.

  • +2

I've had this since release, I also bought the B&O portal PC version recently.

Sound quality wise, the B&O is probably a tad better, and the B&O have better ergonomics, since it is lighter and suits bigger heads. Is it worth double the price? probably not.

If you have a large head the Arctis pro might be a tight. The adjustment is not really forgiving. Wearing them a long time might get tiresome. If you have a medium or small sized melon, then these will be great.

Hot changing batteries is so good on Arctis pro thou.

The swappable battery is the thing you never knew you needed until you have it right! (especially for anyone working from home) . Probably my favourite feature on the whole headset.

      • I’m genuinely amazed it isn’t a more common feature for wireless headsets.

  • I take it these don’t work on Xbox?

    • This accepts I/O.
      Your Xbox has I/O.
Just a case of choosing compatible I/O.

      • Only sound via the optical on the xbox one (which you can also do for the series x via a tv optical). Game chat doesn't work, only party chat or discord via a phone or pc. It's a massive annoying work around to get very basic functionality. My biggest gripe with Microsoft and the xbox, their absolute disregard of allowing standard usb headsets.
