Breville The Barista Express Liquorice BES870 $569.05 + Delivery ($0 C&C/In-Store) @ JB Hi-Fi

200
92WICKEDWEDS

Been watching this machine daily and noticed a price drop on the Black Liquorice variant of this machine! Not the lowest ever, but I've missed out on the last couple of deals, and this one works for me.

Try what you can, I couldn't find a C&C around me but someone else may have better luck.

Also same price at Harvey Norman currently, but no extra 5% off and delivery is $19.95 instead.

  • I have that CommBank $10 reward over $50 spent at JB Hi-Fi but I'm not sure if this is worth it or if I wait for another deal of the Dual Boiler (been dreaming about the Dual Boiler for a while, after missing out on a few deals in the past).

I have this model, it's been fantastic. Single boiler isn't so bad so long as you are usually making coffee for 1 (or 2 with smaller cups or if you have less milk in your coffee). If i was regularly making coffee's for 2+ i would definitely want a double boiler.

      • I didn't think this had a boiler.
It doesn't even have the new thermojet heating I don't think, just the thermoblock

        • The Pro has the thermojet so it is able to warm up much faster than the express. Something like 20 seconds after being turned on vs up to 1.5 mins for the express.

As well as the extra couple of hundred $, you also need to consider the difference in power usage and bench space. The dual boiler is a bit of a beast compared to the Express.

      • And you need to have room to fit a separate grinder on the bench…

Black Dual Boiler on sale at HN for $999

  • I just got the Barista Pro and I’m a big fan. If it’s anything like the pro it’s a steal

  • +1

Looks like it's been pulled from the website

    Also $599 on TGG ebay.

  • Is the grinder even worth having in this? Or am I better off with a smaller footprint and a separate grinder?

    • Separate grinder is always a better option.

      • Unless you have limited bench space or limited $

        • True, I probably should have clarified 'in your situation' as it sounds like the commenter I replied to probably doesn't have those restrictions

    • +1

Having used this grinder for the last 7 years, there's nothing wrong with it. You can shim it of necessary, but ours works well seven years on.

    • Our grinder hasn't faulted in the 5 years we've owned it. Probably you are better of spending a few extra dollars on decent beans rather than a better grinder. If you are wondering about spending a few hundred $ on a better grinder then you may as well get a better machine (full size group head, dual boiler, etc)

  • Big difference colour wise between Liquorice and Sesame?

    • They look identical
