Is the code unique for everyone?

    • Does it end in 795 for you?

    • +1

      92060339795

      Yes

      • Unique for the deal… same for every one.

    • +9

This to upgrade my Nexus Player?

  • thoughts on google chromecast with google tv versus this?
I want to sideload kodi etc

    • +1

I would like to know this too. Setting up second tv for kids - Netflix, Disney, YouTube.

    • I have kodi installed on the non Max model along with other things I have side loaded.

      • what I am really interested in is from what i had previously read there was a bit more available for the chromecast in terms of sideloading apps & kodi, I had a firestick tv then moved to raspberry pi then to foxtel now box (android) but the FNB is buggy so want to upgrade, chromecast is more expensive so not sure if it's worth paying extra for

    • +9

I have both but I prefer Google TV interface and ease of use

    • +1

      more apps on chromecast

    • Gonna grab one tonight with my father, would prefer to avoid the awkwardness of being rejected in store and having to pony up another tenner, are we 100% they stack?

      • Yea, it’s cashback offer. You will still be paying $59 with your Commbank card and then get $10 cashback

        • Lmao sorry, Quick reading on the phone while out, I meant the $10 jb perks code

          • +1

@TheDukeOfNukem: Doesn't stack with the perks code, as both are vouchers, and JB automatically picks the higher discount.

          • +1

@TheDukeOfNukem: Perk code is online only and does not stack as this deal requires the coupon code slot

            • @brandogs: I’ve used it in store a few times as recent as yesterday, they scan the barcode no probs.

I’m guessing since it’s a code it’s online only. Could always try my luck going in and matching it but who knows.

              Cheers!

      • +1

Don't worry. You eventually get to a point in your life (I'm there) where you don't give a flying f#$k about what others think of you. It's very liberating.

        • +2

Oh I’m there. It’s just personally an embarrassment to go for a deal and miss the mark.

          Cheers guys!

        • +1

That's because you're a piece of s*** (pertaining to your avatar)

  • +1

Does this support chromecast (like youtube cast)

and support google play store app?

    • YouTube casting works better than most devices, plus I expect it to be kept up to date and working unlike most TV built-ins.

    • +1

Yes it does. I bought one last month and its great for slow tvs. Its very snappy, has lots of features and apps. I was very pleased with the surprise feature that I could connect any bluetooth device. Great for watching movies late at night without disturbing anyone. Also the remote has alexa built in. Simply tell alexa what you want to watch on any app
      And thats it. 👍

    • Can you cast Youtube from both Android device and Iphone? Or is it from android only?

Also, does casting work for other apps like Kayo or Plex?

      • +2

It's not "casting" but linking your YouTube account with the stick. Same as any other smart TV, so it should work with any device including iOS.

  • -7

Same price on Amazon with free shipping with Prime. Also 7% on cashrewards.

    • +1

And after that you are still paying more than $59

    • Amazon is $99

      • On the amazon page for the FireTV 4k Max.

"Upgrade to brilliant 4K streaming Get a Fire TV Stick 4K Max for $59 (RRP $99). Enter promo code FTVUPGRADE at checkout."

        • Unfortunately it’s ineligible for cashback through Cashrewards if you have to enter the promo code at checkout on Amazon Australia.

          Cashback is ineligible on:

Use of any codes entered manually in Amazon's 'Promotion Code' field.

          https://www.cashrewards.com.au/amazon-australia#coupons

        • +1

The promotional code you entered cannot be applied to your purchase.

    • It’s showing $99 on Amazon for me?
JB is $59 after the coupon

    • Currently $99 Delivered @ Amazon AU (with 'Bonus' $20 Amazon Gift Card)

    • Showing as $99?

      • Yes

        • +1

There isn't any. Maybe a targeted coupon for those who have purchased a Fire TV Stick in the past?

Edit: This was in response to your original comment that said "Use code?" before you edited it to "Yes". Nice edit btw.

      • For me it shows as $99 below it says

"Upgrade to brilliant 4K streaming Get a Fire TV Stick 4K Max for $59 (RRP $99). Enter promo code FTVUPGRADE at checkout."

        YMMV

        • +1

Do you have an existing Fire device? Since it says "UPGRADE" it might be a targeted code for you.

          • @bio: Socks, I bought 2 lites and still don't have that offer

        • Yeah seems this deal is still active. Targeted to those who have previously purchased a Fire TV Stick in the past

        • That's an coupon code for those who bought the standard version and allow you to upgrade with a discount. It is targeted. I have all the versions and therefore I don't get this voucher

          • @JCRALLYART: I just bought my 3rd 4k Max…. so apparently you can keep buying upgrades.

  • +1

    One complain from 4k max…. It's 32 bit android on 64 bit processor :(

    • Does it have enough RAM to matter? What’re the other advantages of 64bit here?

    • +2

32-bit can address up to 4GB RAM.

4K Max only has 2GB RAM.

I don't get it. What exactly is it that you are complaining about here?

    • +1

What’re the other advantages of 64bit here?

      Emulation.

      • Some app is designed with 64 bit, can't run on 32bit OS

        • Yeah, I'm saying there's some emulators that need 64bit.

          • @PainToad: Dolphin is the only one I can think of, but the 4K Max chipset is way underpowered for that anyway so even if you could run it it's not like you'd actually want to.

  • Was surprised when I tried this, it didn't have an official Binge app.

Also surprised it needed its own power cable out of the USB stick into the wall socket. Made it a bit annoying.

Happily paid more for an Apple TV.

    • Does it need to be plugged into a wall socket? Can't you just plug it into a USB port at the back of the TV?

      • I do and have on several teles with several fire sticks…only thing that gave me issue (ever) was when I plugged the older basic one into a cheap 50 dollar projectors usb in, screen would flicker, but even then, the 4K max works fine on it so yeah, no power brick needed in my experience.

      • need its own power

    • +4

Yes Apple TV4K definitely superior. It is also four times the price though.

      • -4

        So it's actually 16K?

    • +2

Can plug it into the Tele‘s USB, and binge can be sideloaded or ran through kodi

(Though I won’t pretend it’s not pathetic of binge, also get on that Xbox one app you (profanity), same goes for paramount plus before my $6 year expires)

    • +1

This is a bargain for $59 compared to an Apple TV , plus USB can be powered from most TVs

  • It doesn't seem that you can combine with the $10 perk coupon?

    • +1

Yes, I don’t think we can combine multiple coupons in JB site

    • +2

Yes, I tried, did not work.

    • +1

Didn't work for me online, I'm guessing they'll reject it in store as well.

  • +1

Tempted to buy just for the volume controls

  • +1

For $49 (using CommBank cashback) this is a no-brainer

  • any chance amazon will price match this ?

    • +1

i would say likely but earliest tomorrow if they do…

    • +2

I got this message from Amazon for Prime Member: "Upgrade to brilliant 4K streaming Get a Fire TV Stick 4K Max for $59 (RRP $99). Enter promo code FTVUPGRADE at checkout". I am not sure it is target.

      • Did you already have a firetv- there was a promo where previous owners get discount

        • You are right. I had firetv before but did not use it now.

      • Doesn't work for me, must be for specific amazon users.

  • Is that ok to play 4k Blue Ray Rip X264 with no problem? (A Telstra router/raspberry wireless 5g with USB 3.0 hardrive)

    • Here are the Device Specifications for the 4K Max that lists the audio and video codecs it supports if it's any help to you.

    • +1

In my experience, 264 and 265 work with no worries, up to and including 4k

      • I have problem with Chromecast TV play UHD movie mkv file HEVC, it is very slow and stopped.

No problem if I download youtube 4K to UHD mkv file, wondering if this can do it.

  • Bought the 79 dollar one from JbHifi yesterday :(

    • return and repurchase? Or may be call if they refund the difference?

  • Lol just bought one a couple days ago for $99 but with a $20 gift card for Amazon. Does anyone know if there's any point in buying the 4k stick for a FHD tv? Does it upscale to 4k?

    • +1

Did you mean "downscale to FHD"? Yes, it works with my FHD TV.

      • +1

Yeah I understand it works with any FHD tv, but I'm trying too see if there's any value in getting the 4k stick if my tv is just FHD. Can I somehow still expect a better picture quality or some other features?

        • It has a faster processor and Wi-Fi 6, but I don't think there's any difference in picture quality.

    • Do they bill you separately if they despatch it at different times, like $79 & $20, or the full $99

      • They billed me $99 and sent a physical gift card of $20 value

  • How does this compare to Google Home?

    • Do I mean Chromecast with GoogleTV? I personally like Chromecast better and for some reason Netflix comes out very grainy on the Firestick. Don’t know why coz it’s the same Netflix account I’m using.

      • +1

The most annoying thing about Netflix is not being able to manually adjust streaming quality.

  • Thanks op got 2

  • Feedback on fire tv 4k max - good for hdr & Dolby vision playback but the sound output is limited. You can get Dolby Atmos but can't get other type of HD audio formats higher than 5.1 to play back.

Any Nvidia Shield on sale? :)

  • Awesome device and well worth the price.
Great for streaming APK's and WiFi 6 is a bonus.
I'm an Android fanboy so naturally prefer GTV.

  • +2

What’s the benefit of this? If my Smart TV has every application I use already easily accessed from its OS (and that’s quite a few) what obvious/commonly accepted benefit would one get from this that they’re otherwise missing out on?

Genuine question, I want to want one but don’t know why I’d be buying it.
