    • +1

    • Who cares.. it 2022

Worth keeping in mind the Gourmet is their lower-end stamped line of knives. I'm sure it's still a good knife but whether it's worth $100 ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

    • I think the material is the same as other model's but handle is different 🤔

Hi. I don't work from home… Would this knife still be ok for me to use?

    • Yeah you can use it but it's not a great price for you for some reason.

      • +1

Is there any way I could trick the knife into thinking I WFH?

Get this for an extra $40

    • I dont agree agree with you for a few reasons

      • while its vg-10 it also means its far more brittle Wusthof
      • you need special equipment to sharpen and its expensive (diamond)
      • the knife will petina over time and loose its luster, Wusthof wont
      • if your cutting harder veges (eg, pumpkin) you'll want Wusthof because its more durable

Im not saying yoir wrong, its just things to consider that otherwise may be overlooked by someone who isn't aware of drawbacks that come with a vg-10 knife.

      • I don’t disagree with some of the points, but it smashes through pumpkin.

        • Im sure it does, but if you experience an accidental rotation you are more likely to snap it.

Same goes it you drop it on the floor.

The Wusthof may be a slightly less hard material, but thats also what gives it longevity.

Again, no fighting you.. just things to note.

          • @vash5: Don’t rotate 😂
It’s definitely more robust compared to my blue #2 knife going through a pumpkin. But it’s also not my only knife and I have a $5 kiwi when I get really scared.

  • you can pick up a zwilling professional s for about the same price. this is lower end. i'd start with the classic atleast.

Just thought I would post this up for people who want a comparison between Zwilling and Wusthof.

Me, I’ve got both a 16cm and 20 cm Classic Wusthof Cook’s knife I’ve had many decades now. They are the cornerstone of my prep work. I don’t even use a paring knife. The man hones them with a steel when the edges go off.

From what I’ve read you should look for a forged knife, rather than a stamped one.

Just buy the $5 all steel one from Kmart it's so sharp
