What Will Happen if I Attempt to Cut The Security Tag?

Hi all,

I bought a pair of shoes from Anaconda and got home only to realise they left the security tag on. I really can't be bothered driving back (20 mins)…I was wondering if I could get through this with a pair of scissors or knife and what will happen if I attempt to do it. Is it one of those ink ones? Or do I really need to go back?

Cheers

Edit:

Sorry for the delay, here is the video, not very interesting 10/10 would steal again.

This is requires simply a tool with a magnet. Just get some neodymium magnets and place over centre and it pull up the latch. (This allows the below to be turned)
Use a flat head screwdriver and push the outer ring clockwise.

Haven't heard from OP for a long time. Worried it was some sort've tamper proof explosive…

Those tend to have enough ink inside which will colour your shoes (and you) in enough colour to attract a male lorikeet to do a mating ritual dance for you.
Freeze it, then crush it in a vice grip.

      Poor lorikeet

  • That's an alarm not ink. You cut the wire which breaks a circuit and triggers the alarm.

  • Just don't cut the blue wire… I mean the red wire!

  • cut the shoe then stich it back

Personally, the time you took to write this and the time you took to reply in this forum are already worth more than the 20 minutes you could have driven down and get the tag off.

  • I purchased some Salomon hiking boots from Anaconda($69 bargain) that got delivered with security tag still on them.
I just cut it off without any issues, my tag was different, It was white and round

Not sure why you don't just call the shop and ask them instead.
You would have got a more useful advice than having to put up with 100 people who are trying to become the next stand-up comedian.
Really dont' understand why people try so hard to come up with jokes and catchy comments on every single post.

    • It's not hard, it comes naturally

Not surprising in this age of narcissists always seeking attention

That's funny. Similar thing happened to me.

I made a very large withdrawal from a bank and the teller forgot to remove some security device, possibly due to being rushed on my part. Soon after leaving the bank I was engulfed in a plume of red smoke. At first I thought nothing of it, so didn't make my way back to the bank, but when I finally made it home the money was all covered in some red dye. I've tried removing the dye but to no avail. After 7 years I don't want to return to the bank over such a trivial matter. So does anyone know how to remove this red dye?

It's a glitter bomb so you will have glitter everywhere if you cut it as that will activate a glitter explosion from the camera-shutter-like-thingy.

Think about it ….. if it was an anti-theft alarm thingy then it would have sounded as you left the store but it didn't so the only plausible explanation is that it is a glitter bomb.

So unless you want some sparkle on your new shoes ……….and your hair …… and your clothes ……then probably best to go back to the store for safe removal.

Magnet will take it off. If not, place in freezer overnight and then smash it with a hammer. Ink will be frozen.

    Give it back

My niece bought something where they forgot to remove the security device. My son and I took it outside to remove it (in case something horrible happened). The alarm went off as soon as we cut it but it was the most pathetic, weak, quiet, wonky warbling I have ever heard. We laughed hard. Then we smashed it with a hammer.

  • If it was me, just get a strong neodymium magnet. Those strong magnets seperate the inside mechanism. That's what they do instore…

I've got a similar problem, except mine was shipped to me like this, I couldn't get through the hold times and they haven't responded to emails. Different kind of tag though, is this an ink one? Any chance of getting it off with garment intact? https://imgur.com/a/Gkxf6BG

By the printing on it that does appear to be a dye pack ! .. hmmm … I'd call them and suggest they pay for the shipping each way to get it sorted…

    • You just need a strong enough magnet to get it off I think

Take a video of you cutting it. If it inks your shoe, the likes on the video will pay for it.

  • That is so annoying.
    You have options.
Wear as it is with tag on, or return to the store with your supposed receipt.
If you attempt to cut it but damage the shoe, then you have a damaged shoe which you might not want to wear. Up to you.

  • How funny, I bought a pair of shoes from Anaconda online last month and they had the security tag on them too.
They also sent 2 left shoes.

    I returned them in store
