  • how much you guys think the flow x16 will be? i think it will be the ultimate on the go gaming/workstation laptop

    • Probably start around 3.5k+ from a guess.
I just hope they change the HDMI from a 2.0b to 2.1 spec, kind of kills it for me

  • they usually add in about $800 ontop of their standard device, based on Zenbook, probably onward $2999+

  • Display panel may kill this deal, look for reviews that cover response time measurements.

  • USB C charging and I woulda bitten
    :(

Thanks for the post though OP!

I had same gen model, but I got a dud unit, it was crashing consistently after 20 minutes of gaming. was able to return for full refund but took 3 weeks. HP is quick to take your money and deliver the goods, but once delivered you're on your own

    otherwise:
    - good build, a lot of metal (bottom cover, lid)
    - good screen with close to 100% sRGB coverage
    - good cooling system
    - control software looks good (is a bit buggy, but on par with, say, Razer equivalent)
    - discreet design can be used for work, which is a factor for some
    - easy upgrades with spare m.2 (both m.2 slots accessible) and dual RAM slots, nothing is soldered here

    cons:
    - keyboard isn't the best, snd only 4 zone RGB. otherwise usable keyboard
    - not everything is metal, a bit of plastic here and there (compared to Aorus 17g where wherever you touch you feel alloy or rubber)
    - screen isn't the fastest, as mentioned above

screen quality is the biggest show stopper if you like to play fast paced

    • Got the 17 inch one with the last deal, same issue, had to return it for a refund as they don’t have a replacement unit. Might be a problem with the mother board.

      • damn. I had a gut feel that I shouldn't post this deal (which I didn't obviously)

        what did you get instead?

        • I got the new Dell G15 with 3070 ti instead.

    • I bought their victus gaming laptop and same issue. Bsod when heavy gamin in 10 minutes. Refund process took forever

    • Do not waste your money on plastic build laptops such as HP and gigabyte Aorus. Wait for EOFY for a 5900, 3080 165wattage GPU Legion pairing for 2.5k.

      • Aorus is all metal. some models are plastic, yes, but w/e

        Legion is trash

  • am I correct in saying that different versions of the 17 inch OMENs have different quality screens?
If so, may be worth some research to find the best option before buying
(EDIT - sorry - saw the deal posted was for a 16 inch model. Sorry if my advice is not helpful)

according to Jarrod's Tech review on youtube, this RTX 3070 maxes out at 100w and cannot disable optimus
