Probably an easy question, but if I get an additional card, does that invalidate them from Amex bonus point offers if they sign up for their own card in the near future (ie. So they need to serve the cooldown period)?

Not so sure. I had a supplementary card application knocked back previously. Then did it for an alternative family member, and they were instantly approved.

I tried a “adult child” additional card holder and amex denied it requesting ID etc. then did my girlfriend and she was instantly approved.

If my partner already has her own AMEX Ultimate Qantas card, can I still add her as additional member under my card that is of the same type?
You can try. Sometimes they do not even ask any identity questions and people have them in their pet's name. All they can do is say no.
