Big +1 on this one, looks like its cheaper than my usual haunt - Catch

    purchased 4 bags

Should have bought 5 and used the $10 off $100 if you could stretch that far.

Got my kids saying this accidentally now I wear it.

The head shake, "amatuer' from little kids is pretty funny.

    25c/tablet.

As an alternative, Kogan have 440 Finish Classic tablets for $75 plus postage. Postage ranges from ~$6-$20 depending on post code from what I can tell or you can get free shipping with Kogan First to some areas. Free trial of Kogan first is available.

Kogan deal - 440 tablets for $95 (including postage) = 21.5 cents each

    Big W deal - 400 tablets for $90 (5 x 80 tablets + $10 discount) with free C&C = 22.5 cents each

Personally haven't found a big difference in the different tablets in my dishwasher.

    • probs cheaper than bogan when you add the $10 discount voucher.

      • +4

That includes the $10 discount voucher.

The best value Big W deal is to get 8 packs @ $20 = $160

        Minus $20 bonus is 640 tablets @ $140 =. 21.8 cents.

        • +1

Thanks for the quick maths. Bought 8!

        • Does it include 5% off BigW gift cards?

        • What is the code for 20$?

      • Big w won’t allow me to add more than 4

    • +3

If you were after 440 Finish Classic then you can get them at mychemist for $51.96 and free postage.

      • I also bought two boxes of the Finish Classic dishwashing tablets this morning from Chemist Warehouse C&C. I use the classic for regular washes and ultimate pro for heavy duty washes.

        • +4

That's probably a good approach. I know I'm totally overthinking things - but when I have a heavy duty wash with the pre-wash cycle selected - I put some cheap powder in the bottom of the machine for the pre-wash and a usual Classic in the door for the main wash - it seems to do a great job.

          • @Ruckmauler: That sounds like the best approach based on a 1hr dishwasher YouTube video I watched

    • +1

That is awful price from Kogan, if you want the classic tablets even Big W has them for $19 for 110 at the moment and you don't have to get stuck with delivery. that is pretty much standard price for the classic tablets in a lot of discount shops. Reject Shop has them for $14 at the moment in one near me in Canberra.

  • +1

    Wow… good find.

Just in time for me, grabbed x8 for 140. Thanks OP

    • Someone told me these have an expiry date? Is this true?

      • +1

i have been using ultimate for a while (last deal was probably 6 months ago or so)

theres no expiry date on the package, but, theres a lot number with manufacturing date and so on. heard we can use them no problem until 2 years from the date of manufacturing.

i did have an issue couple years ago, where the tablets not dissolving completely (but, then my dishwasher went broke, so, cant really say which one was the culprit)

      • These arnt tide pods, you cant eat them

  • Looks like they've limited it to 1 per customer…

    • My order got reduced from 4 to 3

Was a postal order not c&c

  • How do they compare in terms of cleaning results to Aldi Logix Platinum? Missed the latest bulk special there, tempted to get this instead.

    • +8

I think everyone should try the different tablets to see how they fare for you and your machine. We found the Finish Quantum Ultimate Pro Tablets to be the best. I think the Fairy Platinum ones have been pretty good too. Most of the other tablets we have tried (including Finish Quantum Ultimate Tablets) left a residue on certain bowls or didn't clean them as well.

      • +1

I think the sneaky thing that takes a while to notice… holy crap, erosion!!
Saucepans, glass, labels… eaten. But never put our finger on what tablet was doing it.

    • +2

I used to use the Aldi logix platinum. They work well for most washes, but every now and the heavily soiled plates or pots don’t seem to get cleaned 100%.

I do find the wine glasses gets cleaned much better with Finish :)

    • +3

Great advice, try them and see for yourself, some people swear by Logix, other people (like me) think they are useless - binned the box after 2 washes.

I guess dishwasher and water (hard vs soft depending where you live) may play a part in different experiences.

I won't go back from Finish Quantum Ultimate Pro after trying a number of alternatives.

      • We used to have two types of bowls, to make it easier, let's call them white and beige. (we ended up giving the beige ones to my parents as they seem to like them, and they did originally give them to us).

Before we used Finish Quantum Ultimate Pro we used to have to check every bowl top and bottom and every beige bowl would have a residue on it or be a little dirty. The white bowls would sometimes be dirty too. Because the beige bowls were so terrible we always left them for last. It got so annoying we tried to make sure there was a gap between the bowls if possible (not very often). Ever since we started using the pros (I don't actually remember how we got a trial pack of a couple, maybe it was in the mail or something) we don't really need to check them as it's pretty rare that they are dirty and we can stack them as close as the dishwasher allows.

If you can get away with cheaper tablets I say go for it. The fact that we don't aren't stressed/annoyed at having to check everything/wash things again is worth the extra cost for us.

        • +1

Great summary! The constant checking, rinsing, re-washing was just too much of an annoyance to me, I know the Ultimate Pros are perfect everytime so that one less thing to have on my to do list at the cost of slightly more expensive tablets.

    • I love the Aldi Logix Pro. I don't like to spend more than 20c/tablet so they are perfect for me and have never had an issue with them not cleaning something. It's funny how peoples experience with dishwasher tablets can vary so much - I think the best thing to do is just try out the options and see what works best in your machine.

      • Yep - the Aldi Logix Platinum 18 In 1 Dishwashing Tablets Lemon scored highest on the Choice review, 78%, above Finish Powerball Quantum Ultimate Pro Tabs Lemon Sparkle at 76% but as suggested above, your results may vary depending on water composition and other factors

    • Wow 20c on those ultimates is fantastic!

    • Very good price, but seems to out of stock everywhere.

  • +1

No delivery is available. Postcode 2122

    • it’s no delivery at all ..regardless where u live …by the way 2212 is my childhood haunt ..still shop there reg

  • +7

I find the Aldi tablets do just as good of a job with my dishwasher for 14 cents per tablet.

    • +1

I second that. 14 cents regular price wins for me over once in a while offer for Finish tabs. Bigger things in life to worry about :)

    • +1

I agree. I've never had an issue with Aldi Logix platinum.

Changed to Earth Choice for a while as it won the Choice test, but I found it just didn't clean as well, so went back to Aldi Logix.

Cheaper than these Finish ones too.

    • Yep. The big 100 packs that they sell from time to time are crazy good value.

    • Same for me. Switched from finish ultimate recently and found no difference. Dishes are super clean with logix too.

    • +1

I have found the opposite - much poorer results from Aldi

    • I find the Aldi tablets do just as good of a job with my dishwasher for 14 cents per tablet.

I find that it leaves white marks on my dishes, not sure why given so many people are fan of Aldi tablets.

      • +1

It depends on your dishwasher. Worth trying all of the cheap tablet options and working out which one works for your machine.

  • +2

I've been buying this for years, seem to work perfectly.

    https://www.cheapaschips.com.au/products/bc233

    • I at times cut the tab in half for smaller loads. Its hard to cut these as it has the red ball in the middle which crumbles.. Another reason I prefer the Aldi ones

    • These Finish Classic tablets have a non disolvable wrapper that you have to remove before use. My wife hates them because she has a "thing" against touching the raw tablet :(

  • just out of curiosity people buying 4,5,6 packs - do you have this much use or are you stacking for years to come?
we generally use about 2 per week.. so with 4 bags I am looking at about 3 years worth or tablets..
    80x4 = 320.. 2 per week so 160 weeks ~ 3 years…

i guess the question is how often do you run your dishwasher? cheers

    • +5

I'd say most families would use their dishwasher every night. If it's just you or a couple perhaps I can understand not needing to use it every day. It could stink a little though if you are leaving your dirty dishes in there for more than a day.

      • +4

For us twice a week is the norm. A very simple solution to avoid smells: prop the door open a bit, food residue will very quickly dry that way, rather than ferment. A good tablet has no trouble dissolving it later.

        • When it was just my wife and I, we would run it every second day. If it was a particularly dirty wash we would sometimes run the quick rinse or whatever cycle the first night.

      • +1

I meal prep, so no pots or pans for weeks usually. I live alone and it would be once every week or so, but often longer. Twice a week on the meal prep weekends

    • I bought first and thought later :(

Will be donating to friends and family…

    • +1

My suggested rules for dishwasher ownership are

Turn it on before going to bed and you can empty while your toast and coffee are getting ready.

Never complain about someone turning it on. Encourage people to call out beforehand. For little kids make me wash and dry and pack what they didn't bring by hand just once and they will bring it next time and ever after.

Logically, understand these tablets don't really expire and deals only come along every so often. Screw running out and dishes piling up. Spend a hundred and you only forgoe $1 per year in bank interest at the most. Compare that to a half hour hand washing to catch up because you ran out trying to time it. You are earning at a rate of $2 an hour trying to time the purchase on your first wash. Then you will run out again. Or going to the shop just for tablets likely to take a half hour anyway? Screw that. I like to have around a hundred in the cupboard and keep an eye out for deals.

      • +10

I set ours to turn on at lunchtime so the solar pays for the power.

        • This

        • +1

We don't have solar power (yet) but our machine has a solar cycle which only uses the water that it pumps in. If the day is hot enough we can use that setting and use the water from our solar hot water.

        • +1

Same I run from 10am to 2pm for free on solar

        • +1

This. Because dishwasher uses a lot of electricity to hear up the cold water. You'd be surprised how much kWh it uses per wash.

    • Every evening Monday to Friday and at least twice a day on weekends.

    Nice find OP

  • +1

Great first post, OP. This is cheaper than Amazon price.

  • +1

Thanks I have stocked up. Bought the max of each of the 3 different types

  • Nothing within 20km of me, great bargain but I was too slow to the party

    • +13

If 99% of all customers used Finish, then it would also be reasonable to assume that most of his customers with broken dishwashers also use Finish. It could be possible that the 16 people in the country who use Fairy just didn't call him to repair the dishwasher? Not saying it's an absolute fact but something to consider when taking advice like this

    • Subjective in the extreme and really doesn’t take whether or not this post is a bargain into account.

    • +1

People drink water will die doesn’t mean water is poisonous.

    • Or he tells that to everyone so they use Fairy and then PROFIT!!!!!

    • +1

Are you the legendary Broden?? Seems on brand that you were the only one to neg the deal

      • +1

And appears to be back after a hiatus.

    • +1

My dishwasher repairman said to stay away from tablets with soluble wrappers (all brands). He said he repairs/replaces many dishwashers where the wrapper hasn't dissolved sufficiently, causing blockages and water pump failures.

      • Which tablets don't have soluble wrappers? Aside from Finish Classic

        • +1

I have some Finish Powerball tablets individually wrapped in foil.

You could also use Powder or Gel/Liquid to avoid the soluble wrappers.

He also suggested the Tablets can be cut in half for a standard wash - a bit hard to do with the soluble-wrapped tablets.

    • Fairy is a soap bomb that imparts a disgusting scent unto plastics. Don't know if others can't detect it but many people like me would never use fairy again.
